Fellas, if the game is blacked out in your area, and you don't have an NHL package, the TSN 690 link in the GDTs works ... I'll verify the French link in the next game ...

I'm Ok with going with this PP to see how they do to start the season. Having Dach is a huge upgrade. Laine need to prove he can get his old form so putting him on the 1st PP would not be signalling that it's based on merit. If this is our first PP then ouir 2nd may be quite decent with Laine up front, and Hutson and X on the point. The other 2 players are a toss up. I assume Newhook would be there to play centre (better not be Dvo or Evans) and then it's anyone's pick. Probably Gally for some net front presence. With the lasy forward,I think I'd got with Roy to help his development, but i wouldn't rule out Josh and maybe Armia. Will be interesting to see how long before it is obvious Hutson should replace Matheson on the 1st PP. Of course there is a huge risk having Hutson as the only dman on a PP.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. I'm not sure about the former. Marty is proving the latter.
Let's keep the blind and IQ limited quarterback quarterbacking the power play just in case he a grew bigger brain and a third eye.
Meanwhile the guy that actually scored 44 goals in the NHL and at his prime along with the kid who is at the next level is wondering if they need to buy a polaroid camera and hang around the those nefarious spots to get nudy pictures of the coach and his Raccoon Love.
Soon, sometime this century someone needs to tell Marty that his job is on the line if he doesn't remove the paper bag from his head.
I'm pissed...

According to a fan with the players they had on the ice...
Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky Newhook-Dach-Laine Roy-Beck-Anderson Davidson-Condotta-Farrell
Matheson-Reinbacher Savard-Hutson Xhekaj-Mailloux
Montembeault and Primeau
Marty may not get any pats on the back for the power play, but i got my two headed monster....XMail will deliver...

I'm OK with Hutson and Laine on the 2nd PP right now. They both still have to prove themselves. And to remove any on the current guys from the 1st PP at this poiint would not be good for meritocracy and morale. BUT, and it's a huge BUT (that's why I capitalize it ) , if Maths is killing plays and Hutson is dancing, Marty better not be shy to demote Maths. Similarly, if Laine is lighting it up and Cole, Slafs or Dach are struggling, then Laine better be promoted.

There is a certain amount of seniority bias on every hockey team. Inserting a rookie ahead of a guy who got a lot of PP points last year (whether he deserved them or not) would be a potential chemistry faux pas. Better to play the vet, who will most certainly have difficulty because of the points made above, and then you can swap him with Hutson, or put in Xhekaj or whoever on the 2nd PP. The seniority bias disappears because Mytheson's been given a chance.

Looked at the announced TO line-up for tonioght and other than a few rooikies who's names i recognize - NADA. It's almost as if the NHL has a business model for the pre-season whereby visiting teams dress crap so the hometeam fans can enjoy a win, and maybe a slaughter, which would help ticket sales during the season. Anyway, I'm good with a slaughter tonight. And our PP better show some results! It's partly (to a large extent, I think) relieving the 'vets' of the need to leave their families etc. The rookies and hopefuls relish the thought of staying in a nice hotel, getting the experience of being on the road, etc. But it does indeed lead to these skewed lineups.

I would start the season with Hutson, X for his 107mph canon, Laine on the left circle, Slaf or Dach in the middle and Suzuki on the right circle.
Laine and Suzuki will be the quarter backs and puck distributors.
To set the tone and put some fear, I would feed X and let him hurt several people with "errant" shots, basically get the opposition to pay attention and freeze, thus giving more room to pass around.
When Weber was on the power play, every time he got the puck, opposing players became instantly aware about their exposure to his canon, which froze them in their track and made them turn their heads. Same thing happened when we had Souray. Now we have X. Mailman and Guhle also have a great slapshot but nowhere near the velocity of X.
The group we have now is a perimeter pass the puck...until they lose it.
I'm not saying that we will make X the focal point, but he should be an option that can only be ignored at the cost of their limbs.

Having that heavy, painful shot on the PP makes a lot of sense, especially against direct competitors. Injuries happen and they happen more often blocking heavy shots. An opponent losing a key PK guy or a top Dman for a period of time, will help our playoff chances

Laine carted off the ice, knee injury
This Patrik, was why Habs management didn't want you to play ... but noooooo, you insisted you wanted as much pre-season action as possible

Xhekaj goes after the guy who kneed Laine after the puck dropped. A guy named Pare, who wouldn't fight. Xhekaj pounded him with gloves still on and got 2-5-10-10 and a game ejection
7 min PP to Toronto
Still think it will be a deterrent?

Watching Patrik Laine hobble off the ice suggested that there is now a new job opening at RW ... at least for the next few months ... didn't look good at all ...
Cheers.

That is the ref's fault. I guess Molson should be barking in the league office behind closed doors.
It is certainly not Xhekaj's fault. Would Montreal be better off with no tough guys...

This is ridiculous, some AHL player taking Laine's knee out. Is this the curse of St Patrick? We cannot get ahead!!

Lane Hutson played 9:07 in the first period ... we will be forced to play him 30 mins this game
If I was MSL, I'd send a message to the league by only icing 3 players every third shift.

Seems like MSL's PP has the same philosophy as Burrows ... if you pass 40 times they might credit you with a shot

Slafkovsky gets into a fight with Rifai
MSL should bench the first and second line. We can't afford any more injuries.
We play with 6 forwards and 4 d-men the NHL might finally see how dumb it is to ice a head hunting AHL team
