In The Rebuild Molson states he wants to get away from the torch imagery. That’s why it’s not apart of the introduction anymore. I don’t like it. The live orchestra and band was cool and all but it still seemed to lack something. It was better than last years.

Tesm seems to be playing confidently. Guhle roughed up Matthews on that last shift. He looks like a #1 D to me. That appendix was clearly holding him back.

The first period was entertaining hockey, which is what you hope for after the pageantry of the opening ceremony.
Montreal's power play looked very good and the PK was solid too.
There is no ideal line to check the Matthews line but all the top three Habs centres have stayed on the right side of the puck.
The number of penalties is not a shock for early season NHL. But what struck me was that the fringiest guys in the lineup tonight (Heineman, Barre-Boulet, Barron) all committed penalties, not awful ones since they were d-zone, instead basically just step too slow/too slow to recognize danger types, but when you are on the roster bubble, not sure they did anything to help their case about being in the lineup tomorrow in Boston.
