I'm impressed with how well he sees the ice, his lateral movement, cuts ... and speed, which he developed while growing up chasing rabbits with a stick ... that said, I also remember the talking heads saying that there is a tradeoff with Lane Hutson ... his bread and butter is his offensive game, while he has holes in his defensive game ... Cheers.

I need to eat...wear clean clothes...not wash dishes...warm the bed... She wants The Voice, she gets The Voice. Hang in there, mate ... we'll get you through this ... It's amazing how when she puts food as an argument...I ALWAYS lose. I think she got that from my mother who use to use cookies as a weapon. Yes, evil woman controlled me through my stomach...

Of all the rookies we've had in the last few decades , Lane excites me the most. His potential is enormous. Anyone watching a Habs game (including the folks on Prime) leave saying wow, that guy is impressive. My fear is he reminds me a lot of Phil Housley - small US born dman with great skating and moves. But Phil only had a few seasons where he was on the plus side of +/-. Now he didn't play for many good teams but we gotta hope Lane doesn't become a liability defensively. In fairness to both Phil and Lane, you don't get a + when you're scoring on the PP, and a goal is a goal. In Housely's rookie year he got 66 points in 77 games. and was a -4. I barely remember him but i do remember he had no problem using his stick. I don't think my favorite dirty tricks are in Hutsons bag of tricks. Hutson and Savard were a disaster last night. The first 3 goals were on him or him and Savard. Playing Savard with X makes as much sense as hot peppers for IBS person. Neither is good at outlet passes, never mind rushing. I don't know what to make of this season. At this point, it will be more fustrating then enjoyable.

Did nobody else notice that during the game the D pairings went from Matheson - Guhle to Matheson - Baron Savard - Hutson to Guhle - Hutson Xhekaj - Baron to Xhekaj - Savard Noticed and threw up in my mouth (a little bit). The Savard Hutson pairing were tagged for the first 2 goals and MSL must of blamed Savard for it and shifted all of them. The best defensive defenseman is Guhle so he inherited Hutson, Barron is the weak link and he was paired with Matheson, finally the odd couple of X and Savard. Neither are fast, nor great at outlet passed or skating out with the puck. It would of made sense to pair Savard with Matheson but I guess Savard was the escape goat of the evening. Basically we got the Frankenstein solution... I tried to download the game simulation from NHL and so far, can't. But, now we have evidence on who committed which crime...note the first two Pens goals... www.nhl.com/gamecenter/mtl-vs-pit/2024/10/14/2024020046

Guhle has been a force at even strength this season, so I am not sure I want to change his mojo. Savard has been a great settling presence for various kids over the last couple of years. Xhekaj-Savard was a solid pair down the stretch (20 games) last season. I think the problem is Savard has never played hockey with a player who operates the way Hutson does, weaving in and out traffic and carrying the puck down low in the o-zone, and frankly the old vet is struggling to get on the same page with his partner.
Part of the issue for the Habs getting burned on odd man rushes and missed assignments is that Coach St. Louis is intentionally getting Hutson on the ice when Montreal's first line is out there, which is understandable (skill loves skill), but the problem is that guys see Hutson as the cookie dispenser and they all want to populate the o-zone until Hutson retreats.
