Couldn't think of anywhere to put it so it might as well be here...
I'm a huge believer of crosstraining in manufacturing. It cost money to do that but now you have a staff that can do most jobs. Which means you can add or subtract without worrying you will lose critical personal or not have e ough trained if you need to add people. Also, the first company i worked for was a massive multinational that after 20 years in your senior position, you could retire OR be transferred to other senior positions. From lets say manufacturing manager to sales manager. Their thinking was that now you have the best bringing their knowledge to their other best. Sadly, i left them...
Sooo..what's wrong with putting X on the 4th line for a few games or Matheson or Hutson...and in reverse putting Slaf on defense? It's not their permanent position but they will learn in a hurry when their mates don't come back to help. And on the other hand, what it feels like to get pucks in their feet or have to dump and chase.
It's not like we are going to compete for the playoffs or first place so why not REALLY teach how to play hockey and how to see the entire ice.
This kind of thinking is going to send schockwave through the NHL.
Hello SMarty...are you really that smart? Prove it...
