FRanko, I just spent about an hour talking to 3 different Rogers people. I had difficulty registering & the last person I spoke to is telling me this French language package is for streaming only - ie: on a phone or XBOX. She says it is not a TV service. Is that right? No not as far ss I am aware. French package is a TV package. Game centre is streaming THnaks. Really frustrating dealing with them. They send me to the web site to register, then that doesn't work then I get sent to someone that doesn't know what this package is. I'll try again tonight.

"Tony" from the "Office of The President of Rogers Communications" has been trying to get a hold of me for the past week. We can't seem to line up our schedules to be in the same place at the same time. If all he's going to do is read me the "company" line, then I'm not going to waste my time.
Now it seems like the French RDS package offered at $60 for the season is still not up and operational.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do?
No initial launch is ever smooth - but this has been so bungled that it could take years to convince people to trust the system they've tried to put in place. Just a farce.

I've sent the comments along . . . don't think Rogers is going to be happy with the "farce' comment, to which I say "good". I'd say "hopefully that will smarten them up", but I'm skeptical.
still waiting for response, but I imagine that this is a busy day for them (NO -- I'm NOT justifying the ineptness).
the RDS feed needs to be up for tomorrow, so there is still time. everything was supposed to be done by Monday, though.

It's funny. The company I own just made a deal to upgrade all of our phones with Rogers. I pushed and pushed and pushed for the best deal possible, and they ended up giving me a dedicated customer service rep in the business/customer care center. I've never had an easier time dealing with someone in the implementation of a complete hardware upgrade across our company before. This involved hard negotiations, concessions by both sides, considerations for size and usage - and finally a resolution which not only kept our business with Rogers - but has left me feeling altogether satisfied. This was relatively complex and has been moving back and forth over the past few weeks. This was not a "cookie cutter" purchase.
YET...
All I want to buy from them personally, is a TV package that THEY'VE made available to ME...and it's as bogged down and confused as anything I've ever encountered. It should be almost as easy as walking into a store, picking up my purchase, and walking to the till to pay for it. Simple. I want this - please allow me to buy it.
Sometimes I wonder how the same company can get something so complex right - yet something so simple SO wrong?

And to prove I'm not shilling for them, I'm on them too because I can't access game centre.

Despite the fact that there own site says it is a cable package available now the 3rd person I spoke to today told me that it is a "streaming only" package.

What I still don't understand is this: this is the same NHL with the same broadcast restrictions and territorial rights as last year & all the years previous. Yet all I had to to do then was ask for a French language package that included RDS. For 7 bucks/month I got every game.
Why could people watch RDS coast to coast last year but this year we are blacked out?

OK:
TV package has been live through most of the pre-season (I caught a couple of the Habs French games). Games will air on 464 or 465 (Toronto).
RDS is up and running -- unfortunately, the reps (Rogers/Bell/Cogeco) don't seem to know it!
and FREEHAB: from my friend at Rogers: Tony is not trying to feed the company line - just trying to make sure he gets what he needs.
Rogers customers that can't watch the game tonight can log on to NHL.com -- put the game on, after 5 minutes they'll ask you to log on. Sign up with rogers in advance.

Just talked to Rogers again & found someone that is supporting this effort - GCL support I guess. We were done in just about 5 minutes. What he told me was to go to the 400 series of channels & look for the games stating at 401. I'm not at home right now but will have a look tonight. Seems encouraging.

1462 and 1462 have still not shown up in my guide. I called to ensure it was available in my area. The answer from the Bell CS rep: "It was just offered on Oct. 2nd....they were having technical difficulties as of yesterday (Oct. 3). Wait until the start of the regular season. It should appear by then." We shall see. Well, ..... to CH and 24in93 and fellow GTA Habs fans and Bell customers....... I think it is finally working. On Bell, when I use the guide I can now see channel 1462 (which seems to be for Habs games) and channel 1463 (which seems to be for Sens games). I can also see when I scroll the schedule to tomorrow (10/09) that the game in Washington is scheduled at 7h00pm (And Sens schedule at 8h00 against Nashville). I did "synchronized my programation" as per the Bell web site but I'm not sure if that is what did it or not. Could only be the timing. Now let's just hope that I celebrate tomorrow at 7h05pm 60$ to get all the missing games ? I like it. Hopefully that works for you guys too.

Last year with Bell, in order to get RDS, you needed to pay for the full French package which was 15$/month. No other choice. Never watched any of the other French channels for a second. But I guess they knew that....

Still have it even after I cancelled RDS.

"Tony" from Rogers was great - just like every other customer relations person I've spoken to at Rogers. Very helpful and completely understanding. After calling me at work, then later at home, and even later while I was in the car - "Tony" from Rogers assured me that the $59.99 Habs/Sens package had been installed on our Rogers account - and that it would be fully operational. I live in Woodstock, Ontario - which is about 110KM West of Toronto. He told me that it will appear on channels 464 and 465. He also has promised to follow up with me on Monday (he doesn't work Friday) to make sure that the package is working for us tonight. When I go to channels 464 and 465 in my guide, BOTH are dark and say that I need to contact Rogers 1 888 # to purchase. I really hope this changes before the game tonight.

Hi Freehab, Do you get SN 360 (old SCORE) ? It's on their tonight. I DO! Thanks! I just hope that I get whatever it is that "Tony" has now billed me for. I've got to think that it's in Roger's best interest to ensure that they get all the bugs worked out on this stuff ASAP. They'll likely not sell too many NHLCI or RDS hockey packages once the season is underway and people find that they can manage or get by without all of these extra channels. The time to have gotten this right was before the season started - and not a week or two in. Like I've said, if the channels work and I'm getting what I've presumably now been billed for - great. If not - then I'll cancel, fore go the packages and just make due with the channels I'm already getting. We all suffer.

If that doesn't work for me I'll try 464/465.

Thoughts from "my guy at SN".
btw, he's a Habs fan and says the SN guy in charge is a Habs fan too.
Lots of complaints from Leaf fans that the broadcast was too pro-Habs. (Interesting).
Hevwas at the game 7 meltdown in Toronto and loved every second of it (who wouldn't).
A few glitches but bound to happen. It'll take a while to get to RDS level.
Glad to be back so I can watch tonight's game.

So I'm currently watching the Habs Caps game on RDS. It appears Bell Fibe will have their French language package on channels 1438 and 1439. I guess they're doing a free preview as I haven't ordered anything yet and I'm watching the game! Just showed up in the guide today. Curiously I had Sportsnet 360 as of yesterday and now it's disappeared off my guide. That's how I stumbled on RDS, while I was searching for 360. What a pleasant surprise. I missed you Pierre!

FREEHAB: did you get RDS tonight? if not pm me and I'll put you through to the guy I know at SN. Life is ALLLL good, Franko! Just as "Tony" promised, it was there on channel 464 and 465. I'm not gonna lie, I did watch it on SN360 in English and not on RDS last night. Had my son's Minor Bantam AA coach over (diehard Habs fan) and a few of the other neighborhood Habs fans to watch. I might start charging a "fee" at "the gate" and recoup part of my $59.99. Thanks for your help with this. It's greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to thank "Tony" when we follows up with me on Tuesday.
