So , was DD the problem? No ... The problem is we have ZERO offensive depth. So this habit of picking up defense has to stop. We had Tinordi, Drewiski, Gonchar ...sure Petry has been a good pickup. But I'd prefer a second liner Skilly, Tampa is not winning the Cup, despite all their offense. They got pushed to 7 games and might very well have lost that 7th if not for the Wings missing Zidlicky and Kronwall. They're beating up on us because we have the equivalent of a straightjacket offense. Next series, they're up against either NY or Washington. The Caps have a big, hard skating, well coached team without a popgun PP. While the Rangers are missing Zuccarello, their offense is still better than ours and they too are well coached and well disciplined and they have as good a defense as us. Lundquist is close enough to Price. The Lightning know they just have to keep going to beat us. We can't score and they'll get one at least and then two in OT because we can't get a second unless the game's already out of reach. Then, if somehow they get past either of those two, they face one of three teams that can all score. It really helps when you can give the other guys all the PP's you want, and take all the liberties you want and they can't score. My point is that despite all the offense, Tampa is not well built for the playoffs and won't win it. It's just a matter of which round they're taken out in. this......and I mean THIS exactly what I said to my wife as I turned off the tv after the TB go ahead goal. The Habs may or may not win this series(most likely not) but it won't matter, because nobody here is going to get past Wash or the Rangers for the cup round....and I see that as an absolute fact.

But what is your point? You seem to be agreeing with me that we need offense. If we had offense, then we'd have as good a defense, goaltending, and offense as them. Not to mention that even Washington can win a game against them. Heck so did Pittsburgh. This year this conference was ours for the taking, if we had offense .... 110 points mean squat if you only score 1 goal a game in the playoffs. If 110 points doesn't mean squat, then a decent addition would make a world of difference, right?

Sorry, you're right, I didn't complete my point. I agree with Berg that defense wins championships. We have defense but the pathetic offense ensures this type of team will never win a Cup. You have to have some offense. I jumped to the fact Tampa has the type of offense that's really good but their defense isn't good enough. The remaining teams are all better defensively and can score enough (more than us in other words)that Tampa can't treat them with the disdain they treat us. And they do treat us like a door mat.

All of Tampa's best players played like they were ... Bishop, Stamkos, Hedman ... Price was hung out to dry ... the only leadership I've seen from our team in this series has come from Prust ... worst part; there are people paying what scalpers are asking just to see this stuff ... brutal ...
Cheers.

I too want guys on my team who hate to lose. Until Stamkos' goal, I also thought Mitchell was one of our best players. He played like he cared and was working his butt off and it showed. If the rest of the team would put in that kind of effort, we'd fare much better against Tampa.

So Lucic's death threats were a good thing then ... Sore loser antics are not classless?

So Lucic's death threats were a good thing then ... Sore loser antics are not classless? ah, but Prust didn't say "kill the ump ref" -- that's a fan's job. he just pointed out -- while the series was still going on (twit) -- as opposed to Lucy doing it in line at the end of the series (twit) that the refs aren't always very nice (think that whistle is going to blow early on a goalmouth battle?).

WE should hire a lip reader to find out what Watson said. Prust tends to speak the plain truth, but I doubt he was quite as 'questioning' as he stated. I do think, though, that the remarks Watson made to him, as repeated by Prust, are accurate and that in itself deserves some action on the part of the league (at this time please pick yourself up off the floor and continue reading). What a gong show the NHL is.

Sure they're classless. Who gives a hoot though. I'd rather be a poor winner than a good loser. If its not meant to be, go down kicking and screaming. Let's be real.
Not really comparable to Lucy either. It's not like this is in the handshake line where you're supposed to just let bygones be bygones. It's kind of the point.
This is just some frustration coming out from being persecuted by the refs all year. Not that big of a deal. It may actually help the guys refocus.
