I am sure Hamilton will find some other guy.......
Hopefully, like Martin and Quenneville(2 other Franco Ontarians) who have turned around their franchises.....Julien can turn this franchise around.
AS never considered Hartley...he just said it.

AS just said on an interview for RDS
"we're gonna keep the assistants in place for the until the end of this season, after that, Claude Julien will have had time to evaluate them and will decide what to do next.

Congratulations, guys! You finally got your wish. Hey Viper, are you dancing in the aisles now that your wish came true? My guys were sort of surprised to hear about this. They thought the timing was sort of strange. I told them I wasn't surprised and said that at least a good portion of you wanted this to happen. Then I posted the link and the story on my forum. I think they sometimes wonder about me (just like you guys do), being a Leafs fan that likes the Habs. Hey, I didn't grow up in Canada, the Habs and Leafs weren't rivals as far as I was concerned, so it left me free to like the Habs too. I couldn't change my feelings just because the league moved the Leafs back to the Eastern Conference. I think I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Habs, but I will always be a Leafs fan because they own my heart (there is a blue Maple Leafs tatooed on my heart . I'm happy for you guys. Now maybe the Habs can get a really good coach.

Maybe Julien can get the boys to play a full 60 minutes! ;D Here's to a fresh start and a stop to the rotating door on the press box. Play Hainsey, Hossa and bring up Ward and let the future begin! Can the Big K be far behind? I am relieved and can't wait for the rest of the season to unfold. ;D

My God, now I can sleep better.
For the last few weeks I was getting some inside info about what was happening in the locker room then a few days ago this MM thing took place. Here I was, wanting to explode with joy but I had to keep my mouth shut.
This is great news but it could of been better. Oh well, we will take what we can out of this and go forward.
Maybe Julien would surprise us and be better then what I think of him. Nevertheless, this is great news.
If you guys want I can bring you up to speed about the short MM saga but never ask me to reveal who he says he is. More about this later.

I just got home. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Alright time to find out if we were right. God I hope we were. I was reading that Julien likes an aggressive forecheck thank god, finally we might have a SYSTEM that might take some pressure off our mediocre D corps. Good luck Jules.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of some on this board, I was sorry to see Therrien go. At a personal level, no one likes to hear about someone losing their job when they tried their best. At a hockey level, he should have been allowed more time to rectify the situation IMHO. The cards he was dealt were not ideal, to say the least. Was it his fault when Brisebois made a mistake or when Kilger took the night off?
I believe the players are as responsible for much of the current situation as he was. They are highly paid professionals who should be doing their best, no matter who's coaching. I think many will agree that it has not the case this year, with a few exceptions such as Koivu.
Cheers

''<br> Like most new coaches do......he will likely keep the lines intact...for now......I am pretty sure once he gets a feel for this team, we will see some changes. But what I like is the last pharse. ''I want intensity, movement on the ice, a GOOD TRANSITION GAME. I want the player to feel good and confident after a practice'' Let's hope he practices the transition game ALOT!

Thoughts: - TSN reports a 5th round 2003 pick to Edmonton, moving up to a 4th rounder if the Habs make the playoffs. - another forced move of bringing up a minor league coach. I hope Julien works out but after MT (same kind of track record) I remain skeptical in these circumstances. He gets a 2 year contract so there's no trial, we're stuck with this guy for two years. Hmmmm....guess I have the same misgivings as PTH. Remember, MT had a good minor league rep too. - everybody now expects a miracle. Bring on the kids, do this, do that. AS should be the next to go. Expectations are a mile high. Well: 1) AS hasn't yet had a proper chance to turn this team around. Get another GM and you go back to square one. An organization needs stability if it's going to improve. 2) this team still hasn't got the players to amount to much and they'll only come, when they're ready, from the farm. Which will take a while. Expectations of a "big trade" to get us a good player or two, who can make an impact, for our cast offs is, well, unrealistic. Somehow I get the feeling that a lot of folks here are setting themselves up for another big disappoinment. Hope not but I'm still being conservative and putting my expectations on 2004/05. Just my 2 cents. Cheers.

It's going to take a while for the players to become familiar with the new coach so I don't see a dramatic turnaround in the near future. The team might win a few games but making the playoffs is going to be iffy at best. Savard could have waited until the summer, made space for some youth, taken advantage of a better draft position, signed Julien before training camp and saved a pick. Cheers

Heard on RDS...Bertrand Raymond asked AS...''if you had the choice between Hartley and Julien(if both were available) who would you pick?'' and AS told him he would have picked Julien(some may say..what else do you expect him to say after hiring the guy? )
It will be interesting to see if it will change something on the ice(I think it will)...

Actually it was the wrong questions to ask Savard.
The question should be: "Savard, why did that recent "ex-coach" not want the job?
Second question should be: "Why did you think that the Uber Coach wants to coach for you?"

Actually it was the wrong questions to ask Savard. The question should be: "Savard, why did that recent "ex-coach" not want the job? Second question should be: "Why did you think that the Uber Coach wants to coach for you?" Savard has been meddling in Therrien's business since day 1. Imposing players on him, choosing his assistant and all. Heck, Savard even came down twice to ice level to yell at the refs... What was Therrien gonna say since Savard was the guy that give him his big break, the biggest chance of his life and the biggest paycheck too. Was Therrien gonna say ? Stop acquiring darn heartless one dimensional player... Move some of the smurfs we got by the dozen... Get the friggin physical dmen we've been needing for 2 years... No, Therrien couldn't say these things and just went along with the boss plan. Of course he ended up paying for it when it all crashed. What do you think proven guys like Larry Robinson, Bob Hartley, Jacques Demers or Bob Gainey would tell Savard when he'd try to meddle in the coaching business... Now what do you think Julien will say... Yep. I think this answers your questions
