Now what do you think Julien will say... He'll say the same thing MT said... " ok boss !" I for one think the whole "MT is expendable when AS's skin is on the line" theory has been pretty well vindicated. Still, Julien will have a bit more leverage than MT...... AS knows that if things really don't work under a second coach in a row, people will to wonder about him.

Yea, I agree PTH. MT was Savard's safety net. Now he's used it, probably sooner than he'd hoped, and Julien is HIS pick. He's even on record as saying he prefered Julien over Hartley. So, as you say, if there is a failure AS will surely be on the firing line. Frankly I hope Julien works out, for the fans, for the club, for the young players and because I think that AS is doing a pretty fair job of finding and developing home grown talent so I don't want to see him canned. Plus, although he's made some mistakes, he's also made some good moves and IMO still has the makings of a pretty solid GM. Maybe it's wishful thinking but Julien might not be quite the push over that we think MT was. MT's approach seemed to be basically play hard and you play. Outside of that he really didn't appear to have any ideas. The "meddling" that Doc refers to was in fact postive in some instances. Julien, if you can believe what we've seen and read, has quite definite ideas about how a team should be handled- a system, how to use players, how to deal with players, etc. Those ideas, plus the fact that he's a real detail man, may put him in a better position to deal with AS, if in fact Savard does meddle more than he ought to, whatever that is. Now AS might have someone who will be able to counter him if needs be. Other variables may come into play. MT may have never really been AS' man. If he does have more confidence in Julien he may be more inclined to take a hands off aproach, especially since it seems, to me at least, that Julien is much more Savard's kind of coach- organized, methodical etc. He's also got the experience of dealing with MT and how things can go bad and may actually have learned something about how to deal with his coach and the need for a proper mix and balance of players on a team. I may be overly optimistic of course and Savard may be a complete, ego driven, dolt. But I sure hope not for the sake of our team. I remain focused on 2004/05.

Theodore on Julien:
"He's fair and straightforward with everybody and he's not afraid to talk to his players."
Could that be a shot at MT? I seem to remember Chow complaining that MT never spoke to him, and it doesn't seem like he ever said much on the bench.

well, well, well... guess who Fatty Tremblay blames? Yup...an anglophone...Gilmour......it's sickening www.cyberpresse.ca/reseau/chroniqueurs/rtremblay/rtre_103010184692.htmlNot Audette or Brisebois's fault, eh? nooooo PS, if you hate MT, DO NOT READ FRENCH PAPERS TODAY! you will get sick like I almost did. You would think the guy is the best coach in the NHL and was in first place of the league the way they protect him and defend him. And they are already starting to get on Julien's case because he describes himself as emotional like MT(yup, of course they forget to mention Julien actually knows what a system is...something MT never really showed while at the helm). GO HABS. Win 10 in arrow to shut the french media up!

I don't want to say Savard dropped the ball by letting Carbo go, but you couldn't fire Therrien after that playoff run and Carbo was admittedly not ready to be a Head Coach, but you know Savard would have been interested... still, I like this Julien guy, he's done a lot in a lot of different places. Don't care for his lack of hair though, but we'll see if it impedes his success as coach.
