Alright...this one's for Skilly. Sing along and substitute "Reggie" for "Skilly" ENJOY!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEtOs6ofM40EDIT: Yes, posted in two threads for posterity. Besides, it's a double entendre and allowable as per the international forum rulebook.

Hey ... I live next to a farm, and a castle (yes this is true). But I am not a country bumkin! And the only rig I drive is a Dodge Grand Caravan.

Glad you enjoyed them Skilly. Just one more for tonight. Never knew they made it to the Ed Sullivan Show The BandThey look a tad nervous. Cheers. Ed himself always looked nervous...or awkward....never totally comfortable anyway. He had his feuds...most notably with Steve Allen, Frank Sinatra, Jack Paar.....but he was also very generous to those he liked. He actually paid for the funeral of legendary dancer Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, who was completely destitute at the time of his death, and likely for many years previous.

Here's one for you Andrew. I have most of the CD's The Tragically Hip have put out. Blow at high doughHey, thanks Dis. Not as much of a Hip fan as I once was, but they're still great live. My favorite album of theirs is Day for Night. After that one I started to lose interest. Funny that you would post that, as the Hip played at Sasquatch Festival as well (the same concert as the Constantines with the hail storm). When the hail came down Neko Case was on the mainstage and the Cons on the side. Both stages shut down. The side closed for the day, and the mainstage was out for about 90 minutes. The first band on after the delay were the Hip. They came out rocking (with Grace Too) and brought the cold and soggy crowd back to life. Gord Downie was in fine form with his animated stage presence and going off on tangents during songs. I found some footage: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBjqah9sUHktinyurl.com/yjskyr

Thanks for the links. I know what you're saying about the albums going downhill after "Day for a Night." As an aside, if I'm not mistaken I think that was the album they flogged during their appearance on Saturday Night Live. Anyway, after that album their material basically had good songs here and there rather than all the way though. "Blow at High Dough" comes from the album "Up to Here." It was the Hip's second album and is probably one of the best rock cd's I have in my collection. Every song is good. And one of those songs is considered one of the best of the last decade. Check out New Orlean's is Sinking. Incidently, Rob Baker (lead guitar) frequents a popular in-town roadhouse called "Shoeless Joe's." I've met him twice and he's the real deal; Oilers fan though ... Anyway, I remember thinking I had seen the guy next to him as well but I couldn't place him. It was Paul Langois of the same band.

I could never really get into the Hip much. Still can't. I think their best tune by far is Poets and then it drops off pretty far after that. 50 Mission Cap is every Leafs fan torch song, so obviously, I loathe it. Rush was always the pinnacle of Canadian bands for me. There's so much world-sized talent in each of those guys and when together make some special music. They rock out wherever they go. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKBLSkN2sRk... Geddy Lee gives Mike Ricci a run for his money. Looks like somebody got 100% on their CG project... www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOaRLEOBECU

Hey Dis,
I was watching the Sabres-Hurricanes the other night last night on MSG. During the first intermission they had a ceremony to commemerate the anniversary of "Concert for Bangladesh". It was the first concert that has been inducted into the MSG wall of fame. Thought of this thread when I saw it.
If I was good at this finding link stuff I would post a link to George Harrison or Eric Clapton during the concert. They should clips from the concert and it looked like it was a good time had by all.

"Time Stand Still" was all I grew up with because I knew someone who loved them. Now I see that they were a good band, but the pinnacle? I'd say the pinnacle for Canadian rock is Bryan Adams. But the band that led the way was The Guess Who.

Thomas was even the top-selling international Canadian male recording artist of all time. But, I honestly don't know who it is now. Probably Adams. Cheers.

I think their content is going to dramatically decrease as they continue to wipe out any copywrited material. Still, if they do have it, it shouldn't be too hard to find. I really don't have time right now, but if you find some time later maybe try searching the YouTube website using their search engine. Try "Concert for Bangladesh+MSG" Might work, might not. If it doesn't may just try searching Concert for Bangladesh. Cheers.

Sipping on my last pint now. Just found a newer band ... well, new as in the last six years or so. Don't know if you've heard "Days of the New." This rendition is pretty close to the studio version. See The downtownHowever, this one is the exact CD version: Shelf in the roomI picked up the CD, Days of the New, back in 2000 just for the first song but found there were four really decent tunes on it. Cheers.

As far as newer bands go, I'd have to give a tip of the hat to The Trews. Playing Kingston's Joy Supper Club on Nov 5. But, I listen to more jazz fusion than anything else.

Classic SNL! And to come full circle using Skilly's earlier post: "But the band that led the way was The Guess Who." The Guess Who evolved from Chad Allan and the Expressions who had the 1965 hit "Shakin' All Over". Chad Allan's real name is: Allan Kowbel.

Chad Allan's real name is: Allan Kowbel. ;D not chad . . . From what I understand Burton Cummings was a real @#%#@ (knew a guy that jammed with him) -- ego bigger than his head. Actually liked the Bachman-less Guess Who when Dominic Troiano played.

I remember when I bought Queen's album and discovered the bicycle race poster insert: just about fell over. After all, this was the last 70's -- such things just weren't done! Watching the video reminds me that I once had hair, too.

If you're talking about Michael Jackson, despite his fondness for little boys, I agree. If you're talking about Weird Al, he's just a decent comedian.....
