As a kid I had a huge crush on Michelle Phillips. That led to a crush on Peggy Lipton.

From the "where are they now" category. Richie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow) has had a project called Blackmore's Night for the last dozen years or so. It blends renaissance music with a folk and rock feel. Not to mention the nicest looking and best sounding vocalist he has worked with (Candice Night became the new Mrs Richie Blackmore in late 2008). This song is very melodic, but then Richie lets loose with the guitar at about the 3:05 mark and plays head to head with their dude on flute. Very Tull-esque indeed. All we need is lanky Ian up there prancing in his leggings, eyes bulging out as he hits a new high note. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHDAh4IMToU

Thanks for that clip NWT. I had wondered what Blackmore was doing. Our band plays a lot of Deep Purple....as Ritchie was our guitarist's main influence. I lost track after "Rainbow".....duh....all I had to do was google 'Ritchie Blackmore'.
What a gorgeous setting for a concert as well. Where is that?
BTW...the backup singers aren't hard to look at either!

Sipping on a red wine tonight.

Not rye....sipping on wine during dinner tonight....and watched a couple of segments of Dr. Phil....all about making ends meet during these tough times. Topic-du-jour. Guests included a frugal couple who wrote a book about their lifestyle....showing how they've clipped coupons, shopped at thrift stores, etc. for 26 years. Then on came a spokesperson from the UCLA Thrift Store, which is located in the Bel-Air/Beverly Hills area. Dr. Phil says, "You can get some really nice designer labels there for a great price. My wife and I donate our clothing there on a regular basis, isn't that right, Robin? You're gonna donate what you're wearin' today, right?"Love how he connected with his drowning-in-debt audience there...by saying how rich he was. (Of course, the audience applauded wildly.) I was expecting him to say, "You can save lots of money on groceries, too. I had filet mignon the other day, and my personal chef told me it was on sale."

Sigh, what memories. Deep Purple, Blackmore, Gillan and Lord, Child in Time. Oh to be seventeen again. (no puns, please)

Very reminiscent of the In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida solo. How many young rock drummers cut their teeth on that?

The title is exaggerated....i.e. it's not the funniest video in the world....but it's funny.
Obviously, a very serious subject is being discussed....but the interviewer can't get past the high-pitched voice of the man.
Laughing in inappropriate situations is classic.
----------------
What's also funny is that nobody in the audience is reacting.

Did you see/hear this CBC Q interview with Billy Bob Thornton?
Either he's eccentric, a complete arse, or he was high on something.
Granted, the producers agreed to not mention his Hollywood career, and the host went ahead and mentioned it in his intro....but come on, Billy Bob....the Boxmasters wouldn't be opening for Willie Nelson were it not for your marquee value which was NOT earned paying your dues in the music world. I felt bad for his bandmates...likely all great musicians who HAVE paid their dues over the years.
Don't bite the hand that feeds ya, man....it's all showbiz.

probably a little of all three. with a mixture of big ego.
but "Bad Santa"? no wonder he didn't want his *cough*acting career*cough* mentionied.
Billy . . . you're not a great talent that burst on the scene [or to put it another way: I've heard the Beatles . . . and you're no Beatles].

There is no replacement for the Lawrence Welk Show. This must be where Will Farrell got his inspiration for the cheerleader character on SNL.
And Cheech & Chong got theirs:
