The Bulldogs starting the season 3-0 with 2-0 shutout. Chipchula's first game after being returned by the Habs. Didn't do anything spectacular but was OK. Marc Denis has been a surprise IMO. With the shutout last night he now has a 1.33GAA and a .958SV% in the early going. Anthoer surprise in the young season has been David Desharnais with a smooth transition so far.He started his AHL career with 3 points in 3 games so far.
Should be a interesting year with alot of kids like Max Pac, Maxwell, D'Agostini, Weber ect. playing big roles for the team.

Didn't seemed down/pessimistic on Chipchura's future with our team/his progress at all.

JJ- thanks for that tidbit. It is good to hear Gainey speaking about his confidence in Chipper. With a little extra jump in his step (look what Gui did in the offseason - darn impressive), Chipper will be a good plugger for a while. I am sure the discussion of the aging vets on the fourth line and their pending UFA status is also not lost on young Kyle. Bide your time and fine tune your skills, young man.
As for David Desharnais, the greatest photo I saw of the rookie camp was little 5'6" David beside 6'8" Missiaen. A truly David and Goliath shot. You cannot help but want to cheer on this young man who just keeps producing at each level of hockey. Not sure when he will max out, but he just keeps plugging and producing. Keep it up Mini-Dee.

According to this article Dan Jancevski asked the Dallas Stars to be assigned to Hamilton. Being property of the Dallas Stars he has no qualms about helping the Canadiens young prospects in Hamilton. Lever at times paired him with Yanick Weber. Dan Jancevski: "I asked Dallas if I was going to be sent anywhere could I be sent to Hamilton. They talked to Montreal and things worked out," said Jancevski, who won the Bulldogs top defenceman award in both of his two previous seasons here. www.thespec.com/Sports/article/450684

DanJan, Alex Henry and Chipper all wearing the "A". No captain yet, but one of those guys would make a ton of sense.
Good to hear about Dan wanting to come back to the Dogs. This is his third stint with the Dogs.
Chipper just pummelled someone in tonight's game. He dropped some guy who never even got a punch in....WOW.

MaxPac with this first pro fight tonight too. This is more fun than the NCAA, eh Max?
The Ads had 22 shots against Denis in the second. There is no defence in this game!!
2-2 in the final frame.

What a brou-ha-ha they had tonight. Chipchura, Glumac, Pacioretty, Belle, White and Flinn all dropped the mitts tonight. Mini-Dee Desharnais also got two helpers tonight on Glumac's pair.
Brisebois' Boys (Julien that is) are playing well.

Interesting. Didn't know Chipchura had that in his game. Ticked off about the demotion? ;D I listened in to the game during Hab intermissions and just caught the fight. Derek Wills said he had never seen such a one-sided scrap. Note to management: he has a willingness to drop the mitts if needed and can hold his own. Interesting.

Surprising for sure. Not once did I see him drop the gloves when Prince Albert would play here. Mind you, he was the Raiders' team captain and best player at the time so I could see why. He's never come across as that type of player.

Chips was okay in the first home game against Hartford. He might be the best Bulldog ever at protecting the puck. A smart hockey sense and very, very strong.
I had no idea how strong he was until I saw him fight in last night's game against Norfolk. It was pretty awesome. The girl I brought to the game who doesn't have much interest in hockey even said "that wasn't even close to being a fair fight."
This is a very young Bulldogs team, but it also seems to be a very big Bulldogs team. They've assembled a brand new team from last year (which is good) Little Weber got hit from behind into the boards and Shawn Belle was all over the guy in seconds.
There are a lot of Bulldogs who no problems standing up for themselves or their teammates. It's really nice to see. When Belle finished serving his penalty, Weber skated right over to him and patted him in the chest.
Marc Denis is definetly the General on this team. They've had great goaltending the last couple of years between Halak and Price, but they haven't had that veteran mindset back there. He's always talking and coaching from his crease and I think the younger players will really benefit from it. I'm not sure what kind of goalie Cedric Desjardins will be, but he's got a good role model.
I have no doubt that Weber, Valentenko, Chipchura, D'Agostini, Stewart and Pacioretty will be NHL players. Not sure if they will all be with Montreal considering the amount of depth we have, but these kids will become better players this season. I've had a big problem with Don Lever for a long time, but he knows how to coach kids.
Man...and we still don't even have Emelin yet.
Aftet two home games, I can feel the team chemistry just like I can with the Habs. With what was said before about Dan Jancevski wanting to come back to Hamilton. I'm not sure we can understand how much volume that speaks with the young players. Wouldn't a young player get a sense of security and trust right away with the coaching staff after seeing that? It will make it that much easier to buy into the system if you have that confidence.
Pretty cool.

Little scary early on as Patches takes an elbow to the head and leaves the in the first period drawing a major penalty. He did returned in the 2nd and actually looked better. Dogs are losing 2-1 in the third to the Marlies by the way.

Dogs lose 4-3. Lehoux scores 2 goals tonight and D'Ago with three assist. Desjardins with the lose tonight.

Dogs lose 4-3. Lehoux scores 2 goals tonight and D'Ago with three assist. Desjardins with the lose tonight. They rested Denis, Valentenko and Flinn to let Desjardins, St-Denis and Shelast get their first action of the season. Dogs at least get a point with the game going to OT. They came back from a 2-0 deficit and really dominated play from the second period on. Lehoux and D'Agostini with three point nights and both ended +3 for the game as well. First of 12 regular season games between these two teams this season. That unbalanced schedule is something else, but it is a lot about keeping travel costs down.

A case of monkey see, monkey do tonight.
Dogs also get off to a bad start, going down 4-0 to Grand Rapids tonight before the five minute mark. They also pull their starter after four goals, putting Desjardins in. They also come up short 6-4 just like the mother ship. Thier first loss in regulation tonight...ditto the big club. Marc Denis' good start comes down to earth quickly tonight...ditto for Jaro Halak.
Time to shake it off and get ready for the next one...ditto for the Habs!!
The only positive is Matt D'Agostini had another good game and got two goals and the second star in a losing cause.

Hamilton records a 2nd lost in a row being downed 2-0 by the Quad City Flames. It was a goaltending duel which continued through the third period until the Flames scored on Marc Denis at the 9:03.Quad City struck again five minutes later. The ‘Dogs couldn’t recover from the deficit, despite a handful of quality scoring chances throughout the game.

Any ideal when Mathieu Carle is expected back from injury? He's missed almost a month now....... i think and i noticed he never appeared on the Hamilton stats yet. He may be an option later on if Montreal has any issues with their defence.

He may be an option later on if Montreal has any issues with their defence. He played last night in the Dogs BIG 6-0 win over the Bears. No points and +1. Good night for Max Pac, goal and 2 assists and D'Agostini keeps on scoring. I think we'll see D"Agostini as the first call-up this year. Apparently Maxwell had a good game as well. Denis first star, 37 saves.

Denis first star, 37 saves. Something to keep an eye on. Because, you know, there aren't going to be enough Halak rumors this year. Marc Denis has now played in 7 AHL games, has two shutouts, a .943 save percentage and a 1.98 GAA. He's only 31, which is still young for a goalie, and had the misfortune of playing the last few years for Columbus and Tampa, two awful teams who are quite good at destroying a goalie's confidence. He was at one time a legitimate #1 NHL goalie. I'm not saying that he'll ever regain the form that once had people raving about him as a worthy successor to Patrick Roy, but as Doc's Backup Bob, capable of 25-30 games a year...

Quick question on Denis - can the Habs call him up without having to expose him to waivers?

Quick question on Denis - can the Habs call him up without having to expose him to waivers? I remember Julien BriseBois confirming that Denis woudn't have to go through re-entry waivers if he's called up a little while ago. I will try and get find the article.

That spanking of a very good Hershey Bears team 6-0 was huge. Check out the highlights here...and enjoy Greg Stewart's one punch fight, MaxPac's first pro goal, and one heck of a wrister from D'Agostini. www.hamiltonbulldogs.com/media/videoDOGS?channel=2Dogs are expected to name their captain tonight. How does Captain Chips sound?

We're beating up on the dregs in the AHL. Last night, the Monsters, and tonight an even scarier team, the Rochester Americans. Looks like the plumbers did the damage tonight 5-3. Desjardin saved our bacon at the back end and Rochester's goalies made life easy for the Dogs. stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1004905

Matt D'Agostini now tied for third in AHL scoring. Marc Denis is seventh in goals against average and tied for third in save percentage.
Two big reasons why the Dogs now have 15 points in their first ten games.
