Chipchura got the first, putting the puck in the far top corner over Pogge's glove with a wrister.
On a broken play Carle made it 2-0, pinching on the PP, after Dan Jancevski broke his stick on his shot.
Max Pacioretty scored a beauty goal showing off his speed getting pass a defender and making it a breakaway. He showed off a nice fake move to get it pass Pogge. Two games in a row in which Patches scores a highlight reel goal. He is developing just fine in Hamilton IMO.
Russell skated in on a three-on-one with two other 'Dogs before wristing it pass the goalie.

I made it down to Steeltown to see the last two Dogs' games - the first two I've been to this year! Both games were entertaining. The Dogs have a couple of heavyweights in Henry and Flinn as well as a pretty aggressive middle weight in Stewart and that seems to create a lot more room for the "skill" players.
I was particularly impressed with Pacioretty. He's has tons of skill and speed. The goal he scored yesterday was a beauty and he had a couple of other nice chances as well. He plays well with the puck and makes some great plays. The only knock against him that I could see was that I don't think he shoots enough. He seems to always want to make the perfect play.
Chipper played with a chip on his shoulder both games and he looks good playing that way. He probably won't ever be a first line centre, but he can be a very good second or third line energy type of guy who'll give you some offense while playing a strong defensive game. He has spurts of brilliance but for the most part plays a solid game where you seldom notice him but after the fact realize what a great job he does. The best way to describe him is a solid responsible type of player who can bring decent offense but whose primary role will probably be along the lines of a Bob Gainey (which isn't too shabby a comparison).
One other guy I noticed was Desharnais. This guy is small but a real dynamo. He doesn't back down and will take a hit to make a play. He looks like one of those guys who no one believes in so he has to constantly prove them wrong. His lower body seems to be big (the guy's only 5'6" but he weighs 177 lbs) and he seems to have good leg strength. I think Desharnais will eventually end up in the NHL, but given his size it might not be with the Habs (unless he replaces someone like Pleky).

Interesting.....
I agree. Especially about Patches pass first attitude. His shot is nothing spectular but he's got some soft quick hands in close and especially off the rush. He showed that the last two game on both goals he scored and in the shootout.
Note: O'Byrne / Maxwell to Hamilton As per rds.

After the callup of Marc Denis from Hamilton, the goaltending is getting a little sketchy. We have Cedrick Desjardins next in line but he is out with a groin pull. So i'm not sure if he will be set for friday. So goaltender Loic Lacasse will probably get his first AHL start friday and Saturday as there is noone from my point of veiw left to even back up Lacasse on the depth chart. Hamilton's feeder team in Cincinnati is in just as bad shape having only Kyle Gajewski who is a Nashville prospect. Lacasse is in Hamilton and Martin Houle quit to go to college leaving the Cyclones exploring their options for goaltending. Edit:Cyclones added Lee Lansdowne to roster.Lansdowne's primary duty was Video Coordinator.LOL Problem solved!!! www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=53411

O'Byrne is in Hamilton on a conditioning stint. It can't be any longer than a couple of weeks and could be as little as a few days. He said all he was told was that he would play tonight and then again tomorrow when Hamilton hosts Iowa and that Montreal general manager Bob Gainey would be there for both games and that they would reassess afterwards. The American Hockey League club was also expecting the arrival yesterday afternoon of defenceman Frederic St. Denis, who they called up from Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. Head coach Don Lever said they are hoping to sign someone to a PTO to act as backup to Lacasse or that Desjardins will have to dress as a backup despite his injury. www.thespec.com/article/489674

Bulldogs score four goals in second period to come back and beat Crunch 4-3.
The Dogs first goal came when Yannick Lehoux found a wide open Thomas Beauregard all alone in front on the power play. Then Mike Glumac's point shot on another Bulldogs' power-play opportunity just 42 seconds later cut the Crunch's lead to 3-2. Hamilton tied the game at 3-3 just a minute later when a sloppy line change cost the Crunch a 3-on-1 break against them and Ryan White deposited a cross-ice feed from Shawn Belle past a helpless Dan LaCosta. The third power-play goal was scored when Beauregard broke free with two Crunch defenders on him and slipped the puck through LaCosta's pads.
It wasn't the start to his career rookie goaltender Loic Lacasse envisioned in his first game as he allowed goals on the first and third shoots plus allowing the Crunch three goals in his first period in all. But he did settle down in the second.
White was very impressive and as were guys like Russell, Desharnais, Latendresse and Beauregard. Glumac and Stewart also worked their butt off for this win.

Dogs' lose against Chops last night 3-2.
Desharnais and Latendresse have really stepped up their game with so many call up still with the Habs.(Lats 7 points in 10 games. - Desharnis 12 points in his last 13 games)
O'Byrne has been showing some sign's of life with some physical play including a nice hip check last night.
For the most part Lacasse has been solid. He been making some key saves when he has to and it's too bad for Lacasse to get the loss as he looked better last night. I'm very very pleasantly surprised by his play. On the negative side last night was the second game in a row that Lacasse had give up a goal on the first shot.
As for last night the Dogs' played the game as the played the 3rd period, Iowa would have been lucky to get a point. Two delay of game penalties in the fianl minutes allowing the Chops a 5-3 powerplay did Hamilton in as Iowa scored with 40 seconds left to win the game.Tough loss after they got back into the game.

Yeah that was some bad breaks to have two delays of game penalties at the end of the game. Not the best way to lose the game as they did deserve a better fate IMO. I also agree that many of the guys have stepped it up with all the call ups. Beauregard gets his first two AHL goals in that 4-3 come from behind game with two really nice goals. Olivier Latendresse clearly looks like he has no interest whatsoever returning back to the ECHL. Given that we got him in a swap for Cory Urquhart who failed to show any real spark to his game in 2.5 years, I think we are a bit ahead on that minor league trade. And Desharnais is getting points again with his hard-working play and nice skill. Decent stretch of two games with both your goalies out. Lacasse gets his first AHL win and the backup is a 32 who was playing in New Mexico in the CHL last season (he did play for the Dogs back in the Oiler days). Let's hope both Denis and Desjardins are back soon as I am not sure the current goaltending duo will win more than they lose.

All you can hope for is Denis and Desjardins return soon and maybe Lacasse gains some confidence out of all of this. He didn't look silly the last two games in the AHL and the Cincinnati Cyclones desperately need a goalie to step up.

- Canadiens acquire defenceman T.J. Kemp and reassigned him to Hamilton. (Kemp will help the team who needed another offensive defenseman that has a veteran presence. Maybe this means they have plans for Weber on the Big Club despite him sitting out all games so far.)
- Bulldogs sign forward Steve Gainey to a Professional Tryout Contract. (S.Gainey is another veteran who has experience in the NHL to boot. He's a guy who plays on your bottom line and you can sit without worrying about hurting his developement as he is not a prospect.Brings leadership and hard work to a young team)
- Bulldogs reassigned forward J.T. Wyman to Cincinnati (ECHL). (JT Wyman need time to develope as he not going to get any meaningful minutes on the 'Dogs. Interesting to me will be whether they continue with the experiment of turning him into a blueliner. He impressed me so far in that position.)
- Bulldogs reassigned defenceman Frederic St-Denis to Cincinnati (ECHL). (Frederic St-Denis is one of the better D- Man on the Cyclones. Cincinnati blueline has been undermanned with St-Denis and Conrad Martin(Signed in Europe) absense.)

Both Gainey and Kemp playing tonight (right now) against the Phantoms. Good news is Jancevski obviously was not hurt too badly as he is playing tonight as well. Carle is not dressed.
Edit: Kemp is playing first PP D pairing with Maxwell on the point.

What a amazing powerful shot by Leroux on that goal. I didn't think he had that in him.Good for Lacasse to receive the assist! Desharnais with another goal. His red hot right now. S.Gainey is having a good start to his Hamilton career throwing his body around recklessly and almost scoring but rang it off the iron. Lacasse is solid again not having to face alot of shots (5 so far tonight)but he stopped them.

What a amazing powerful shot by Leroux on that goal. I didn't think he had that in him. Lehoux is one of what has been an excellent quartet of free agent signings. Lehoux and Glumac have brought some real nice offense, and Henry and Flinn have brought some serious toughness and willingess to drop the mitts. All that has been missing from past UFA signings in Hamilton over the years.

Gainey gets a goal in his first game with the Dogs on the PP to make it 3-1 tonight. Plunked in front of the net to boot. He was really amped up to play this game. Always great for your confidence to have a big impact in your first game. Gainey's done that in spades. The Dogs have played a complete 40 minutes so far. Up 3-1 I hope they can finish it out.

Very solid game by the boys in Hamilton. I nice 4-2 win.
Nice to see the new additions make an immediate impact. Gainey and Kemp both scored tonight. Gainey has been throwing his weight around all night.
Lacasse with a solid game again as he stopped 18 of 20 shots. He made some good saves throughout the game.
Desharnais keeps up his scoring ways with a goal tonight. Leroux scored on a surprisingly powerful shot. Gainey scored working the front of the net. Kemp scores with a wicked shot that deflects off a Phantom's skate.
As NWTHabsFan said O'Byrne looks to be playing with some confidence again tonight. Good news as he will most likely be back in a Habs uniform in the not so distant future.

They had some vets in the past (Manlow, Baines, Biron, etc.) who just weren't all that effective, and some prospects that were getting rather stale and not really progressing. This summer was a full fledged house cleaning, and some decent pro scouting rendered some darn good vets. The only thing holding this team back right now is a flood of injuries in Montreal. Yet, like the big team, they are holding their own with some savvy call ups and a few nice pro additions. Seems the folks at the Habs web site have noticed too!! Nice read. canadiens.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=402615

Hamilton Bulldogs has released goaltender Mike Minard from his Professional Tryout contract today.
With a game versus the Lake Erie Monsters tonight is it safe to assume that Desjardins is set to make his return from injury? And if he does make his return does he go right in and start over the surprising Lacasse?

JJ, Desjardins is back but he is backing up Lacasse tonight. They also play Sat/Sun so he should get his share this weekend as it is a busy three in three for the Dogs, with the next two on the road too.

TJ Kemp gets his first goal as a Bulldog again!! I guess the one the other night was given to someone else as a defection. Oh well, a nice one timer to start the scoring tonight. Sure looks like they found a decent pickup to keep the offense going from the blueline and add a bit more vet presence to work with the younger dudes.

Glad to hear Lacasse with the start as he did just have his best game. Much of his success is linked to his recent rise in his confidence and sitting him down after last game would send him the wrong message.

Tic tac goal by Mathieu Carle on the PP, after missing a few with a minor injury. Desharnais and Latendresse get assists to keep their good play going.
2-0 in the third with two goals from the point.

As NWTHabsFan mentioned Desjardins did play back up tonight but Lacasse got his fourth start in the row after playing his best game as a 'Dog. And Carle also made his return after missing the last couple of games with a shoulder injury.
Kemp scores his first goal as a Bulldog all over again. Seems last game Kemp's shot bounced off of Stewart who was tied up with a Phanton defeseman and then into the goal.
Kemp's real first goal was nice snap shot which he one timed off a great feed from Trottier. Goalie never had time to set up. Maxwell had the other assist.
Carle scored as he pinched up on on a nice looking passing play. Real pretty goal. Latendresse and Desharnias assisted on the goal.
Glumac rips a wrist shot over T. Weiman shoulder to make it 3-0. Glumac followed the goal with a fight on the next faceoff. Latendresse and Desharnis add another assist each.
Lacasse seems to be getting better game by game. His first AHL shotout stopping all 22 shots tonight.
Alex Henry looked pretty solid tonight.
Gainey was visiable at times looking like a wrecking ball and playing solid hockey.
Desharnais has a seven game point streak going with another 2 assist tonight.Latendresse has 9 points in 9 games. This Lats-Desharnais-Glumac has stepped up big time since all the cal ups by Montreal.
