3-0 win tonight over Lake Erie tonight. Lacasse with his first AHL shutout in his 4th game. The Dogs went 5-1 on this season long six game homestand, and head to Lake Erie tomorrow night for a home and home matchup. Goals by Kemp, Carle and Glumac. I have to eat some crow on Lacasse, I thought he sucked and was wasting one of our 50 contract spots. He has stepped up and played much better in his short stint in the AHL than the numbers he put up in either the QMJHL, OHL, ECHL or in the CHL (or whatever that league was called that he was in last season). stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005317Edit: He got off to an unusual start with the Dogs a few games ago. He gave up a goal on his first shot in his first two AHL starts. And yet, he has still managed to pull off a nice 3-1 record since filling in for both Denis and Desjardins. Even though Desjardins is healthy again and it is a back to back game, I expect Lever sticks with Lacasse as he seems to give the start back to a goalie coming off a shutout. Anyway, we will see with 3 in 3.

I with you on your Lacasse summary. I agree 100%. His surprising play is the main reason the Bulldogs pulled through this stretch of injuries and call ups. I expect a Desjardins- Lacasse split of games til Denis returns.

Interesting faceoff stats tonight. White went 14 for 16 and Desharnais was 75% in the spot. That's pretty good in any league.
Lacasse, Latendresse and Trotter with the sweep of the three stars.

Lacasse's stats since his debut in the AHL 4 games ago: 3-1 with GAA of 2.01 and a SP of 0.918. Its going to be difficult decision when Price returns and Denis is sent down with Desjardins still in the fold if Loic keeps this pace up.

Hope he can keep it up, but history does not favour him (may we all be proven wrong!). His historical stats are not great by any means: 08/09 in the ECHL 4.10 gaa 07/08 in the IHL (AA league in Michigan) 3.24 gaa 06/07 in the OHL 3.94 gaa 06/07 in the Q 5.30 gaa (with Roy as a coach) 05/06 in the Q 4.00 (ave with two teams) 04/05 in the Q 4.14 Maybe he is that proverbial late bloomer...or maybe a flash in the pan. I guess we will continue to watch and listen with interest.

I have no confidence at all that Lacasse will become a good prospect. Wrote him off a while ago and still think the same way. If I have to eat crow, I want it to be well aged, tough crow.

For the record, me neither. I am also really skeptical about a 6'8" goalie when I really wanted Tokarski, even if only for his Memorial Cup MVP status at the time and household name. He is still far from perfect as the WJC showed, but we were not picking in the first few rounds from where most safe goalie prospects are scooped.

I'm going to cheer him on when the going is good but it's in the back of my mind before every game that I expect the "real" Lacasse to show himself. NWTHabsFan posted the stats that we are use to seeing from Lacasse. Keep in mind the last two games, which were his best, have come against a struggling Philly and Lake Erie team. Perhaps thats padded his numbers a tad too. Timmins and Gainey drafted him in the 6th round and signed him to a three year contract for a reason ,you would assume. Perhaps there's more to him then these horrible numbers he's put up in jurior. I just hope his resent success gets his confidence up and he finishes the second half on a high note in the ECHL. Then we take it from there. As for Missiaen , I'm really intrigued by his size and numbers he's putting up for a weak Pete's team. I think he wil get better because they always say bigger players take longer to develope because they take longer to coordinate their movements for some reason. So i'm not as skeptical as NWTHabsFan on that issue. But that's for a different thread!!

Good comeback 4-3 win by the Dogs tonight.
Trotter gave the Dogs the lead by picking up a loose puck behind the Monsters net, stepped in front and had a wide open side as the goalie was expecting the puck to go round.Assisted by Maxwell.
Glumac made it 2-0 when he took a feed from down low and fired a shot home from the slot. Assisted by Desharnais and Carle on the PP.
Then it seemed the wheels were falling off as Lake Erie scored three un-answered goals making it 3-2.
But in the third Lehoux skated on net and and fired a quick shot high to bring the Dogs level: 3-3.
The Dogs took the lead when a pass from down low to Ryan White in the slot was fired through the legs of the Monsters goalie. White from Stewart and Russell.
Lacasse played a pretty good game and had a crucial glove save in the last few seconds to preserve the Dogs 4-3 win.

Desjardins makes his first start after coming back from injury.Replaces Lacasse as Lever said didn't look sharp in the second period last game giving up big rebounds but decided not to pull him as he rebounded well in the third making some nice saves including a HUGE game saving save with seconds left in the the game.
Note: Mathieu Aubin is scheduled to start skating in the next couple of games. He's been nursing a high ankle sprain which happened Dec.7.
Lines to start:
Lehoux - White - Stewart Latendresse - Desharnais - Glumac Gainey - Maxwell - Trotter Flinn - Russell - Anderson
Belle - O'Byrne Kemp - Jancevski Henry - Carle

AMERKS DOWN ‘DOGS 6-5
Ya....last night was not a solid night for the goaltenders as Desjardins lets in 3 and gets pulled after the 1st, Lacasse lets in 2, gets pulled 15 minutes into the 2nd, then Desjardins goes back in to finish and lets in one more.
Yanick Lehoux scored a pair of goals for Hamilton, while Mike Glumac, David Desharnais and Steve Gainey also counted for the Bulldogs.

The Hamilton Bulldogs play their 1000th regular season game tomorrow night at home against the Grand Rapid Griffins. Let's hope our Baby Habs can win that milestone game in style...not to mention that Grand Rapids is 4 points ahead of the Dogs and this is a key divisional matchup anyway.
Go Dogs Go.

We need some more consistent goaltending in Hamilton. Desjardins back with another start and stopped 35 of 38 shots, but was the losing goalie in a 3-1 loss to first place Grand Rapids to somewhat spoil the Dogs' 1,000th regular season game. Dogs managed 33 shots but were stumped by a superb performance by Jimmy Howard - a future Red Wings goalie and a big part of their success this season. Only Ryan Flinn scored for the Dogs (yeah, that would be big tough guy Ryan Flinn). Yannick Weber was back in action for the first time in a while. Next up are those Lake Erie Munsters at home on Friday night and Syracuse Crunch on the road on Saturday night. Winnable games.

Good to see Ryan Flinn get his first goal of the year tonight. Desjardins did a good job in net despite the loss.
Yannik Weber has been returned where he belongs as he was seeing lttle action in Montreal. He was just starting to heat up offensively before his recall so I hope he can continue where he left off.

Good little article on Carle and how he's been dealing with his injury troubles to start off his pro career. He seems like a good kid that takes improving his game seriously. I like the fact he seems to heed a veteran's advice. Carle has a strong offensive game with good skating and strong puck-handling ability. His size is decent but he will occasionally neglect his defensive responsibilities. IMO he could turn into a 5th or 6th D-man and a powerplay specialist. Some Excerpt from Canadiens.com: “Raymond Bourque was my dad’s favorite player so I watched him a lot growing up and often modeled my game after his,” Carle said. While the Hall-of-Famer had an early impact on his career, more recently the Canadiens’ third pick (53rd overall) in 2006 has looked to a certain two-time All-Star to help mould his game.“Andrei Markov is such a smart defenseman,” he said. “He’s always in the right place at the right time. He’s so slick on the power-play and just does everything well.” Carle is learning to follow suit in Hamilton, earning regular shifts on the penalty kill, both this year and last. He’s playing with confidence and it won’t surprise many that he’s on pace to surpass his rookie point totals from last season. And while the injuries have delayed Carle’s season debuts, it’s worth noting that Markov, too, endured his share of bumps and bruises early on in his pro career as well." canadiens.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=404147

So, 2-0 8 mins into the second against Lake Erie. OB gets his first point back as a Dog with an assist on the second goal. Goals by Maxwell and Henry. Huge fight by Flinn who takes on a serious heavy weight and kicked some butt. Lacasse back in net tonight and going well.
The two teams only managed six shots between them in the first. 4-2 for the Dogs...just in case you thought the Preds were a boring team to play!!

Aubin back after 15 games missed due to a high ankle strain is having a good game, and gets the Dogs' fourth goal assisted by the two Ryans - OB and Whitey. Edit: 4-0 final. Third win against the Munsters in eight nights. Lacasse with his second AHL shutout, both against the same dudes. Maxwell, Kemp and Lacasse with the three stars. stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005363

Aubin made his return and looked good, getting a goal, +3 on the night.
O'Byrne played probably his best game yet being physical and adding 2 assists on the night +2. Maybe realizing Gainey has to make a decision on him soon?
Kemp who has been dynamite since he got traded to Hamilton had 2 assist and a plus +3
Lacasse gets his second shutout against the same team this week. Keep in mind it's against a weak opponent but he has some very surprising numbers so far in his young career: 5-1 2.08 GAA .923 SV
The jerseys are pretty nice as well, kinda early 90's Kings style

The jerseys are pretty nice as well, kinda early 90's Kings style Yeah, those silver numbers on a fairly planin white jersey looks pretty sharp. I like them having both the Habs and Oilers logos on the shoulders to represent their two parent companies over the 1000 games. I guess they are all up for silent auction at Copps. Nice momento. Tomorrow they don the Habs colours again...sounds good to me!!

Don Lever really loves to juggle lines but to start the starting lineup tonight was something like:
O'Lats- Desharnais- Glumac Trottier-Maxwell- Gainey White- Russell- Aubin Lehoux-Anderson
Belle-Weber Kemp- Carle Jancenski-O'Byrne Henry
Lacasse is the starter Desjardins
Flinn is out with a wrst injury so with no extra forwards on the roster Anderson takes his spot.
1-0 Bulldogs when on the PP Maxwell scors on a rebound off a Weber shot. Also assisted by Lats
2-0 on a funny bounce by when Lehoux throws the puck to the front of the net and the puck hits the goalie and carried on over his shoulder and into the net. Assisted by Trottier.
End of the first.....

6-2 final for the Dogs. Two goals each from Maxwell and Lehoux and singles from Russell and Aubin. Lacasse with the win. Interesting to see Lever give him both starts in back to back games. Lever does like to go with the hot goalie. Six goals...six fights. It looked like it was an interesting game. I missed it as I was watching the Oil Kings thrash the Chilliwack Bruins 8-1 tonight. stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005385

Dogs lose a close one to one of the two teams they are chasing, 4-3 against the Manitoba Moose. The Moose got 3 goals on 5 chances and Jason Krog was a machine tonight scoring two beauties and a nice assist. His last goal came with just over one minute left to get the two points for the Moose. Too bad as the Dogs threw lots at the Moose but just could not get them to go enough to get the two points tonight. Only caught the third but they had a decent period. The Dogs' announcers are calling this a "they deserved a better fate" game. Too bad their bad penalties and their PK let them down tonight. stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005403The goalie situation in Hamilton is sorted out again. Denis looks to be the #1 guy again, with Desjardins getting the backup role now that Loic Lacasse was assigned back to Cincy in the ECHL. www.hamiltonbulldogs.com/article/montreal-reassigns-loic-lacasse-to-cincinnati

How do you break a two game losing funk...well, heck, you win a game, that's how. With Chipper and Greg Stewart back in the lineup and Desjardins getting the call in net, the Dogs beat the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves 3-2 tonight in Steeltown. Goals from OB, Gainey (the younger) and Glumac. OB was also a nice +2 on the night. Guess he is trying to reinforce the story that Gainey feels his confidence has returned in Hamilton and he could be Montreal bound at some point. We shall see, but that Breezer dude needs some rest!! stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005411

Baby Habs playing their last game before the AHL all star break. Habs laying the wood to th Baby Sens with a 4-1 lead half way in the third. Two quick goals in 26 second have given the boys some breathing room on what was a close tight battle. With that fourth goal, Sens' goalie Jeff Glass got the hook to a nice chorus of boos (it is not just in the Bell Centre!). Maxwell, White, Weber (with a cannon from the point) and Aubin with the goals. Desjardins having a solid game in net for the Dogs.
Crap, Sens just got one back. 4-2.
