4-3 late in the third. The Sens have been pouring it on for the last five minutes. If you have nails, bite them!!

Captain Chipper with an unassisted empty netter to make it 5-3 with 45 tics left. Four dogs wearing numbers that are not their normal numbers tonight. No idea why. For example, Chipper is 22 tonight instead of 17. Stewart, Desharnais and at least one other with odd numbers tonight. Game is final, time for an all star break on a nice two game winning streak!! Only Weber will be in the all star game, so the rest of the lads get a nice little rest. stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005424

Interesting stat tonight. Weber's 10th goal tonight ties him for a four way tie for most goals from a Bulldog blueliner in a season. I am guessing he should be able to break that record at some point this season. Nice job Yannick.

Thomas Beauregard is going under the knife for a nagging injury so will miss the remainder of the season. Too bad as he was playing decent hockey in Hamilton since his call up from the ECHL. Good thing Chipper and Stewart are back as they were getting short on forwards anyway.

This was written this past weekend after the Dogs laid an egg against the Marlies on Friday night. www.thespec.com/Sports/article/505093The most interesting thing to me was the fact that there are just two under 23s on Leafs roster. The media keeps pumping out this myth that the Leafs are a young team. They put one 19 year old on the roster and now the Leafs are in a youth movement?

Thanks for that article NWT.
It appears as if the Marlies are being led by older ex-NHLers who are good enough to have them where they are, but not good enough to stay with the Leafs.
Looks as if Burke is going to have to wheel and deal big-time....because I doubt they get Tavares.

Comparing the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs today is like comparing a world-class French chardonnay with a two-gallon box of Billy Bob's Nectar of the Ozarks.
Truer words were never spoken.

After a three game losing streak to teams below the Dogs in the division, this was a critical win for the boys. Good on 'em.

With Weber's two goals tonight, he now leads all AHL dmen in goals and sets a new Dogs' record for goals from a defenseman (previous records was 10).

Mike Glumac, Hamilton's leading scorer, suffered a broken bone in his hand in their last game. He will now be out for four to six weeks. With all the Montreal injuries and Hamilton call ups, this leaves a big hole up front for Hamilton. Let's see how they do and whether either of Pacioretty or D'Agostini are returned once Tanguay is healthy. If nobody else is injured they will have to be to keep the roster at 23.
Dogs next game is tomorrow against the Lake Erie Monsters. Go Dogs Go.

Brock Trotter's goal today was all the Dogs needed as they shut out the Lake Erie Monsters behind a 25 save shutout performance by Marc Denis. It was Hamilton's third straight home shutout win against the Monsters, which is quite a nice streak. The Dogs now head out on a five game road trip, so nice to take all four points that were up for grabs at home this weekend.

Montreal Canadiens reassigned defencemen J.T. Wyman and Frederic St-Denis to Hamilton from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. JT Wyman has been very solid for the Cyclones and had picked up 8 assist in the 14 games he played as a defenseman. St-Denis is one of Cincinnati best defenseman.
Shawn Belle is out indefinitely with a knee injury and Mathieu Carle (shoulder) is listed as day to day.

I'm really high on Wyman. Not that he'll be a huge impact in the NHL, but that I'm quite sure he will make the NHL in some capacity. I envision him as a tougher Ryan O'Byrne. Big guy who can skate, but Wyman probably won't be able to play as many minutes as O'Byrne when all's said and done.

He started of in his first 8 games with a -6 but now has a -3 in 15 games. The offense is a bonus. He's got some good speed and can play tough.Hope it works out and ends up as Montreal's Brent Burns. He got a lot of guys ahead of him on the depth chart(Weber, Carle, Subban, Fischer, McDonagh ,Paquet, Stejskal, and Pateryn all who i would rank ahead of him). Thats right now but who knows who will make the NHL and who knows if any trades are made. More depth the better especially on the blueline.

We should see Conboy's first appearance in the next couple games. Will be interesting to see how he fares at the start of his pro career.

Hamilton is not really lacking in the toughness department. Conboy is not a excactly a point producer or a defensive forward, yet at least. Not sure where he fits in. I expect a few games in Hamilton then a demotion to the Cyclones. I guess? ?

The Dogs won last night beating the league leading Hershey Bears 4-2 with Kinasewich in the lineup, and Conboy not dressed. The Dogs are hobbling together wins due to great goaltending of late from Marc Denis and filling some voids with their ECHL callups like Shelast (Dallas), St Denis, Wyman, and now Kinasewich who only played one AHL game this season.
Hope they can keep it up.

Dogs split a pair on the weekend.
Behind a fabulous 45 save effort by Marc Denis on Friday night, Desharnais and Gainey scored all the Dogs needed to win 2-0 in Norfolk against the Admirals.
On Saturday night, they were hanging onto a 2-1 lead after one and gave up two unanswered in the third to end up down 3-2 in the end. Desjardins took the loss. Anderson and Shelast with the goals.
Two more games left on this five game road trip, including in Philly Monday night and in TO on Friday night.

Game four of five on the road went in favour of the Dogs tonight as they nipped the Philly Phantoms 3-2. Goals from Desharnais, Maxwell and Gainey were all that Marc Denis needed to seal the deal and the win. They wrap up their road trip this Friday darn close to home in Toronto against the Marlies. Toronto is only seven points back but with two games in hand, so a huge game for the Dogs to keep some distance between them in third and the Baby Laffs in fourth. stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005564

Sometimes there are games you win that define your season. Tonight was case in point for the Dogs. They were feeling the heat of the Marlies starting to close in on their third place spot, and they knew this was a real four-point game. Not a great start. The Marlies potted three goals on only 7 shots in the first to have a 3-1 lead with only forty to play. The Dogs then barred the door and scored the only remaining goals of the game to come back and win 4-3. What's more remarkable is that Toronto fired 32 shots at Marc Denis in the last two periods and the Dogs only managed 19 all night. No matter, two points in the bank, and finally home after five straight on the road. Super Sergei was there, got no points (he might have been distracted), had three shots on net and was a -1 tonight. Desharnais had two goals and Ryan OB and JT Wyman had the other two. Dan Jancevski was a rock on D and also ended up with three helpers tonight. Bleu-blanc-rouge wins over the Blue and White are good in any league!! stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1005591

I LOL when I saw the summary & spotted Hollweg's name. Way to waste a draft pick Fletcher. OB decided to welcome Hollweg to the AHL by totally crunching him last night. OB also levelled Tlusty twice in the game. The big man's play continues to evolve nicely. He was too timid to hit earlier fearing getting caught out of position, so nice to see that element of his game coming back. I think he needs to be able to hit to be effective in his game.

Dogs keep up with their winning ways tonight, beating the Wilkes-Barre Penguins at home in their first home game in a while. Denis made 26 saves in a 4-1 victory. Ryan Russell had a great game with two markers and the first star. Dallas farmhand Shelast also had a two point night, with a goal and an assist. Brock Trotter rounded out the scoring and he has been on a nice little tear of late, so that line of Lehoux, Trotter and Desharnais is definitely the top offensive line for the Dogs these days with injuries and callups. Sergei still skunked on the scoresheet. The boys are now within five points of second place Grand Rapids with a game in hand. Although they are third in their division, they have the 6th best record in the AHL. WB Penguins are one of only five teams with a better record, so a nice win tonight all around. Welcome home boys. stats.theahl.com/stats/statdisplay.php?type=standings
