Kostytsin was in there, wearing number e2. Is this 170 in hexadecimal? ;-)

This just in: Ovechkin is good He wasn't invited to the U-20 team cause he's been named to the senior national team at 17. (Perezhogin was 19 when he made the team, and didn't register a point) Edit: meant to say wasn't invited, but that doesn't make sense, as Perezhogin played both junior and senior national team. Also, I wonder if this game wasn't with CSKA-2 cause Anshankov and some other prospects played in the game that are with CSKA-2 not CSKA (unless they got called up) I was told it was CSKA that he played for in the 6-0 loss, but now I'm not sure.

I am positive it was CSKA not CSKA-2. There is no reason not to believe their official website. It was a so called friendly game that is why some players from CSKA-2 were called up. I know that both teams (CSKA and CSKA-2) are practising together now.

Is this 170 in hexadecimal? ;-) Actually, in hex e2 = (14 * 16) + (2 * 1) = 226! 170 = (10 * 16) + (10 * 1) = aa ;D

Well i'm glad Kastitsyn is playing in the CSKA, as much as i'd like ot see him play in the CHL, the CSKA is the best thing for him I hope he sticks with them for the whole season. Just so you know another guy over on the HF boards who speaks russian has comfirmed that Kastitsyn is playing in CSKA through some reading.

Just to reiterate from the official CSKA Moscow Web site: The CSKA roster lists three goalies, 10 defensemen, and 20 forwards (of which Kostitsyn is one). The CSKA-2 roster lists four goalies, eight defensemen, and 17 forwards (Kostitsyn is not among them). The CSKA-2 roster is composed largely of 16 and 17 year-old players. It seems that Kostitsyn is a CSKA reserve. www.cska-hockey.ru/?roster

Ah Kostitsyn Shmastitsyn. Much ado about nothing! Sorry. Well, we are Habs fans, and the word fan does have its origin in the word fanatic. Btw, I noticed on the CSKA site that Tikhonov has chosen the 23 members of the Russian team that will compete in the 2003 Ceska Poistovna (first leg of the EuroTour series) beginning September 4th. Vadim Tarasov and Aleksandr Buturlin were both named to the team. Not tea bags at all.

Vadim Tarasov and Aleksandr Buturlin were both named to the team. Not tea bags at all. Is that to say Tikhonov feels Buturlin is a better player that Kats right now??? If so, I am totally confused. Why aren't we trying to bring over Buturlin ??!!!

I don't know him much, but I guess so, since we drafted him a few years ago. You can't expect a 17-18 years old to compete again a grown man with more experience. Remember that Kasty wasn't drafted because he is good. He was drafted because his POTENTIAL is good.

Tarasov and Buturlin were chosen by Tikhonov for the Russian international team which will be competing in a tournament beginning September 4th.
Kostitsyn is on the CSKA Moscow team roster. CSKA Moscow is a Russian Super League team.
Tikhonov coaches both Team Russia and CSKA Moscow.
Kostitsyn cannot be named to Team Russia because he is from Belarus.
The Habs tried to sign Buturlin while he was over here playing for Sarnia of the OHL. Buturlin declined and went back to play in Russia. After initial struggles he has obviously been developing quite nicely.
I hope that clears up any confusion.

Why is this thread still going? It's like some sort of nasty space amoeba.
Where's Spock, a shuttlecraft, and some Antimatter when you need it?

After initial struggles he has obviously been developing quite nicely. I feel the Habs should keep Buturlin there until he truly dominates that league AND shows the desire to come over here on a permament basis. He's only 22-23 years old, so there is still plenty of time.

Why is this thread still going? It's like some sort of nasty space amoeba. Good question. And it all started with an article that nobody read from a Czech reporter on a Belarus player, quoted by a Russian in a prospect forum. I can't stand waiting for the training camp any longer. I want it NOW. At least we'll have Koivu signing between now and then. We can log at least 100 posts just on that.

How much longer do we own his rights? I feel the Habs should keep Buturlin there until he truly dominates that league AND shows the desire to come over here on a permament basis. He's only 22-23 years old, so there is still plenty of time.

After initial struggles he has obviously been developing quite nicely. I'd really be interested to find out if Buturlin has at all been persued recently as far as bringing him back over is concerned. It's unlikely that he'd be willing to, but it seems as though he has developed into quite a good player as can be read in his bio on russianprospects.com. His talents were highly praised upon his drafting if i'm not mistaken, and after an off year upon returning to Russia he seems to have become a strong, physical, two way player that would definitely benefit our team within the next few years if not as soon as this year. www.russianprospects.com/profiles/profile_%20buturlin.htmwww.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid%5B%5D=45101

How much longer do we own his rights? If a European player has been drafted, but *not* signed, by an NHL club, that club owns his *NHL* rights until he reaches age 31 (as long as he remains unsigned by the club, of course).

When I asked this guy (Tichonov) on the HF boards he answered me this; Actualy it was not a big interview and it was only one quetion about Kasts. Q. Andrey Kostitsyn would be very useful for the Belorussian team or CSKA .However, he appeared neither in the bellurasian jersey nor in the CSKA jersey. Tichonov. Andrey had heatlh problems , and I dicided not to play him in this tounament . I did not want to force his recovery. But I rely on this fellow, and soon he will be on the ice. Hope that will help you. So I hope this enlightens a couple of us helped to reassure me thatz for sure
