Bert Olmstead. Are we going to have to go through all of Beliveau's linemates before we get anotehr hint? No. I'm going to make a total guess .... ... Dickie Moore when he was asked to unretire and played for Toronto in 64-65. I know this caught him totally by surprise. (Or when he unretired again to play for St Louis?) And no. Hint:My guy was close to retiring and Beliveau had not been with the Habs for that long. Try a 5 year span after Beliveau started, that should get you the answer

No .. although Maurice did score 3 or more hat tricks in a season many times . The trade of this guy led to us drafting Petr Svoboda

Skilly, I looked it up. Hard to believe the opposite of Latendresse would be the answer. And not even in the season you'd think.

And we are still waiting for an answer to the original question... Question:Who reported to training camp with a toothbrush and a handkerchief? Hints:-handkerchief is a clue [it's an old guy, you guys] -not our training camp and he got there on a train -played with Beliveau for 4 years before retiring -he has really good hair for such an old guy -he's still alive, it that helps at all... PS: If you guys would like to suggest a question, feel free to do so, but please use the mailbox... I will give you credit for the question as well, so have no fear that people will suddenly think I've developed this incredible hockey brain

Elmer Lach
But he didn't play 4 seasons with Beliveau before retiring. That's the clue that's been stumping me.
Beliveau played only 2 games for the Habs in 50-51...then went back to the Aces for all of 51-52 and all but 3 games of the 52-53 season.
So Lach played only 1 full season with Big Jean....1953-54....and little else.
53-54 is the year Detroit beat the Habs in 7 games in the finals. In OT, Tony Leswick wristed a shot toward Gerry McNeil, then skated toward the bench for a line change...Doug Harvey tried to knock the puck down with his glove, and it deflected into the net. Reports were that the Habs didn't even shake hands, they were so disgusted.
Don't know if Lach was in the lineup for that game (as stats say he played in only 4 of the 11 playoff games that year.)

Retired at 36...seems young, eh? My bad on Beliveau, I was going with what the Canadiens' site has in the all-time roster section So, Elmer Lach is the answer we've been struggling to get to, because I misinterpreted the internetz and gave a bad, bad clue The training camp in question was for the Regina Abbotts, a junior team he was invited to when he was 16. "I took the train into Regina and there was a fellow waiting for me at the station. He said, 'Where's your baggage?' I said, 'It's in my back pocket.' I'd left home with a tooth brush and a handkerchief."More randomness: -he learned to skate on blades borrowed from a neighbour -his nickname was Lach the Unlucky: in the only game he played during his sophomore year 1941-42, he broke his wrist, shattered his elbow and dislocated his shoulder [in July 1942 doctors operated on his elbow, rebroke his wrist and reset it. He was in uniform to start the 1942-43 season.] In 14 seasons, he fractured his skull, leg, thumb, jaw (x2), cheekbone (x2), and nose (x7). -he looked real good on Friday for such an old, broken-down guy Nah, he looked great!

said and ignored my thought was that it might have been given to Elmer Lach. Dude, your answer of Elmer Lach was about the puck... we had moved on from the puck and on to the next question Sometimes we will have repeat answers, because my hockey knowledge is somewhat limited. We are trying to expand my hockey horizons by playing this game and I get to dazzle or blind you with random attacks of inanity

So... I've been told my idea of trivia is obscure and I should change the format of this thread [thanks hon, love you too ]. And I should make up google-type questions with answers that do not relate to my current fave Habs players, namely Cammy, Marc-André, Metro, Moen, Yappy Lappy, Spacek or "Well Hello Big Boy" [that wasn't actually said in so many words, although there was a brief moment of excitement when I said I would never mention Cammy or Marc-André ever again... so I took that statement back pretty quickly ] So please, please, pretty please, someone answer the question correctly and I promise to move onto "real" trivia questions, ok? Thank you, and I'm sure other people will thank you as well ;D *** So for the last time... Trivia question:Who recently said: "You can never be too careful." Hint:He took a stick to the face in last night's game... Hint #2:There's a clip on HabsTV Hint #3:He's in that list up there of my current fave Habs players. *** And here's a thought as well... if someone wants to post a question that they would like me to find the answer to, go ahead. It might be funny to see how long it takes me to get the answer or it could simply be painful
