Tampa's really going for it. If anyone's watched Coburn lately, has he been playing well, or is he on the downslope? That's definitely a high price. Coburn's 30, has this year and next left on his 4.5MM CAP hit. According to hockeyBuzz figures, Tampa is over the CAP limit now by about $1.8MM. Seeing that Gudas is out for the year, Tampa's improved their back line, for sure. Interesting. It might work out well for the Lightning, or it might be one of Yzerman's few mistakes. Gudkas was reportedly hard to play against. Tampa's problems lately have actually been in goal. Bishop has been quite inconsistent with a lot of games having a sub .900 save percentage.

The Michalek deal is him, and a conditional 3rd for Letunov. The conditional pick is if ZM can't play. Letunov is a Russian kid playing in the USHL and will be attending university in the US.

The Smith/Desjardins move makes sense for the Hawks. Desjardins is a UFA. He won't be re-signed. Smith is an RFA and would have been a real issue for them with the cap next year. So, they get and older, similar player for a guy they couldn't re-sign.

He's had a terrible season. Why on earth would anybody want him. 7 points in 54 games. Unless Jokinen learns how to play goal he won't be helping the Blues. |

Flames send Baertschi to Canucks for 2nd rounder. Theres a kid I thought was going to be a big time goal scorer. Saw him in an emergency call-up to the Flames in 11/12 and he scored 3 goals in 5 games, and looked really dangerous. Things have gone downhill for him since then. Travis Green, his former coach when in Portland, is in the Canucks organization I believe, and must have endorsed him. A fresh start might be what he needs. If he's a bust, that's a great return for Calgary, but if he turns into the scorer I thought he could be, then its a steal for the Canucks. Both teams flipping a coin, I guess. |

Buffalo got "snowed" on the trade…..but a shot at McEichel might be worth it.
Kessel and Phaneuf not moving has to be a real disappointment for Leafs' fans….good!
