We lose 4-1 to the Penguins farm club, the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins. Now at a .538 clip. That feels more comfortable. I was having extreme discomfort rationalizing a .750 record with a Lefebvre coached team. Now that its down to .538 it feels less odd. Just a few more percentage points to go to get it to a really comfortable level. Sub .500 should do it. theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014835The Pens are a top AHL team right now. They moved to 9-1 after last night's game at home. The fourth goal was an empty netter. By all accounts I read, the IceCaps started strong and had a good forty minutes. The last twenty, not so much. Seems like a trend this season, as Lefebvre indicated in an article I posted earlier in this thread. That being said, I still hope the Berg is shopping for someone else to lead our farm team. Three years of futility is far too long a leash. RDS just announced it will be showing 12 IceCaps games this season. Hmm, whether to get RDS back again. I did go with the Rogers French game centre pack this year since RDS Habs games are blacked out here. Mrs NWT will no doubt love the prospect of more hockey on one of the tv's.

IceCaps win in Hershey in a SO. Salvage a nice win at the end of a long road trip. Fucale with 38 saves, Lernout with his first goal. Carr and Ellis with the others.

McCarron with an assist, putting him 17th in AHL scoring (with 11 points), though the IceCaps have played more games (14) than anyone else. He also has 27 PIM, way more than anyone else in the scoring race. I'd like to see what McQuaid does when Mike stands in his crease. Mikey is no Pleks, whom McQuaid loves to push around.

After losing those games on the road, Lefebvre mixed the lines up a bit. McC is now centre on the top line with Carr and Holloway. He should get some good chances. Hudon has been moved to wing, DLR is now his centre (he has very few points, so maybe playing with more offensive guys can kick start things), and Thomas who has been producing is now on the third line. The IceCaps reversed a trend last night. They have often started strong and faded this season. Last night they overcame a 3-0 deficit after one period, on the road, and came home with two points. McC is having a very good pro career debut do far. Now if Scherbak can get healthy and get back playing, we will see how he can do as well.

The video from last night's come back win. Lernout with his first AHL goal. Ellis with a blast and Carr with some good hard work in the dirty areas. Galiev is a fast and talented player (#22 on the bad guys). m.youtube.com/watch?v=OyZK1fzRiII&feature=youtu.be

A few little roster moves, all related to injuries/recovery there from.
Tim Bozon, who has not seen any action to date this season, has been cleared to play and has been assigned to the Brampton Beast of the ECHL. I expect he will be in the AHL once he gets back into game shape.
Nikita Scherbak returns to action this weekend after missing a number of games due to an undisclosed injury.
Jacob DLR is on the IR now after crashing into the boards in a recent road game. No estimate of how much time he will miss at this point.

Anyone watching the IceCaps tape delay game on RDS? 2-1 in the third, goals by Hudon and Dietz, and some guy in the ugly Marlies jersey. Fucale in net.
The Leafs continue to stack their AHL with guys not drafted. Not sure how tons of tweeners and AHL vets help you get your crappy NHL team out of the basement.
2-2 PP goal, them udder guys.

3-2 OT. Thomas with a nice snipe. Fucale solid with 35 plus saves. Let those two in the third. Bend but don't break. Good stuff.
Still unbeaten in regulation at home.

Fucale not so solid tonight. Eight goals against on 31 shots. Weird game. St. John's took an 8-4 lead early in the 3rd and lost 9-8. the only good news IMO is that McCarron was the first star with 2 goals and 3 assists. He may be up sooner than we think. Our new 2nd line center. I'm beginning to lose faith in Chucky and all the while, McCarron just keeps producing more and more. I wouldn't object to bringing him up and moving Chucky to the left wing on that line. theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014884

After watching those, NWT, I think I would have pulled Fucale after the 3rd goal. That one looked very soft and one might think this was not Fucale's night. A couple of the other goals were unlucky bounces, but most were just stoppable and weren't. Unless Zach experiences some kind of epiphany, I think he's playing himself out of professional hockey. Lefebvre left him in for 8 goals against. Does that remind you of another coach that did that?

I agree, Lefebvre should have put Pasquale in way earlier and given Zachary a pat on the back and a little "next time" encouragement. Fucale has actually done better than I thought, so here is hoping he can continue to develop. What coach leaves a guy in for 8 goals? Yikes.

By his numbers won't be long before McCarron will be to Montreal. Even if it is just for a cup of coffee

Jacob de la Rose: 13 games, 0 goals, 2 assists, -6.
I don't know how he's being used but those are pretty weak numbers for one of the better scoring teams in the AHL.

I know he's not the most offensively skilled guy, but he's better than that.

Looks like Scherbak's return from injury was short lived, as he left Friday night's game part way through. Reports are that Lefebvre is hinting that he could be out "quite a while". Not good for the rookie.

I wouldn't mind seeing him given a chance on Chucky's right. He's more of a set up man than a goal scorer, but Chucky's a shooter and Eller is learning that part of the game as a winger (Eller's not much of a set up guy) so maybe Holloway would work on that line. It sure seems like Semin is done, and this is a cheap experiment to try.

Bud Holloway could end up being our Prairie version of Mathieu Darche. And then there is Big Mike McCarron. What a great start for the youngster. They are grooming him at centre, so if was called up some shuffling would be needed as there are already a lot of centremen on the roster.

He could very well end up a centreman, NWT, but I see little downside with using him at RW to start with. Mike certainly is progressing at a very good rate.

My buddy and I were saying that Lefevbre should pull Fucale after it was 3-1. But that first goal was a laser, one was a back break, the other weak, but you could tell he didn't have his mojo. They stormed back, as soon as the 5 th goal was scored to make it 8-5, you could tell it was unravelling. It didn't help that 60% of the rink was yelling "Go Leafs Go". The Marlies changed their goalie after the 8th goal, but even more strange was Lefebvre left Fucale in and yanked him after the 8th goal with about 2 minutes left in the game .... That was a definite head scratcher. The back up, with no warm-up, in the game for 2 mins and the OT.

After 5 goals, most goalies are pulled, just because you hate to see someone pummeled. You might wait until the end of a period to avoid the ignoble skate to the bench, but I have a hard time understanding waiting till 8 goals go in.

The words Lefebvre and head-scratcher turn up in too many sentences for my liking.
