Is it possible we have 2 coaches who confound us? Not just us. I'm sure the players are sometimes utterly mystified as well. At least MT can back up his actions with results. Lefebvre, on the other hand, is just plain frustrating to watch behind the bench.

The highlights from Friday night's OT win against the Crunch. Andrighetto led the way with two nice goals (and then promptly received a pay increase with his call up). www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4Y9f6USLdsAnd Saturday's OT loss against the same Crunch. The IceCaps were outshot and Fucale kept them in the game, although he does not always look that comfortable doing so. He does seem to play back in his net and look a bit "small" in net. He is getting results. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ms4e28Vik0

IceCaps are on the road this weekend, and have a very depleted lineup due to both call-ups and injuries. Andrighetto, Holloway, Tokarski and Thomas are all up with Montreal. Crisp, DLR, Johnston, Eisenschmid and Scherbak are all injured. They have called up Pasquale and Bozon from Brampton and signed one of the other forwards from Brampton to a PTO due to not having enough players right now. They will only have 11 available forwards (including their Brampton Beast PTO guy) for this weekend's games. With games against rivals Rochester and Toronto, these are big point up for grabs.

Hudon named AHL player of the week for last week. Great performance. The roster-depleted boys really stepped it up on the road, taking 5 of the 6 possible points in three games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The last two were against division leading Toronto Marlies, and they had two convincing regulation wins (6-2 and 5-1) despite all those injuries and call ups. www.stjohnsicecaps.com/article/hudon-named-ccmahl-player-of-the-week/Friday's OT loss to Rochester. www.youtube.com/watch?v=niWK9glzEdQSaturday's big win against the Marlies. Note that Bud Holloway was returned after his 7 minutes with the Habs on Friday night, and scored once, added two assists and was named the game's first star. Hmmmmm. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5qRtbHiXPgSunday's even bigger win, way to go IceCaps! www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaPikk8Ecy8Morgan Ellis is having one heck of a year. I had all but written him off after last season, but that just goes to show you that development is a long and not-always-linear process.

Tokarski playing well tonight. Has stopped 29 of 30 shots with 2 minutes to go in the game against Albany. Ice Dogs not doing so well, with only 16 shots on goal. Being dominated tonight. Hopefully St. John's can pull a Carey.
Continued: Tied at 1 going into OT. Albany Devils are not a young team. One guy is 20, 3 others are 22 and the remainder are 25 and up. The young guys are hardly great prospects, which shows New Jersey's good prospects are not at the AHL level. Nothing coming up for them soon, unless Pavel Zacha impressed like hell as a 19 year old next year
McKenzie Blackwood in goal and John Quenneville are decent prospects, but the pipeline is not very deep. Can see why Lucky Lou was let go.
part 3. halfway through OT, still 1-1.
Part 4. Damn. 2-1 Devils. Outshot 36 to 17, so can't say we wuz robbed.

That OT loss to the Baby Devils was the IceCaps ninth straight game with at least one point. Despite their very young defensive corps, a question mark in net (how good would Tokarski and Fucale be compared to Condon last season), being one of the youngest (at times THE youngest) team in the AHL, injuries and lots of early season call ups, the Berg has to look at St. John's season as a success so far.
Bournival cleared waivers, so he will help their depleted lineup for their upcoming pair of games in Utica (the last two games of a six game road trip).
Good to see Tokarksi have a solid outing for the start of his short conditioning stint. Having not started since October 28th, there was concern that he would be very rusty. With Carey out for six weeks at least, it will be good to have a backup that they can count on to even the work load and not burn Condon out.

Really good road trip. Last game is tomorrow, also against Utica. Bournival did not play tonight, so we shall see if he gets his first action in tomorrow night. Bud Holloway with the winning goal, Pasquale with the win with 30 saves. Those that watched said it was a night of them dumping and chasing, and coming up with big saves. Not great viewing in my books. Tokarski got the night off so should get the start tomorrow.

IceCaps are on RDS tomorrow. Game is on a tape delay, starting at 8:00pm ET versus the Rochester Americans.
Injuries and callups have had a big impact on their lineup of late, so a little bit of good news on that front. Both Bournival and DeLaRose will be in the lineup. For Bournival, this will be his first game action of the 2015-16 season after a long recovery from a concussion.

IceCaps are on the ice and the tube tonight, as RDS is showing a rare mid-week game in their continuing coverage of some IceCaps home games this season (yeah RDS!!). The Caps are coming off a big 3-2 win last night against the same Albany Devils, backstopped by a huge 44 save performance by Fucale. It is likely Pasquale's turn tonight. Will this be the IceCaps debut of Lessio and/or Kassian tonight (I cannot imagine the latter is anywhere near in game shape however). Highlights (Nice goal by MacMillan. What a blast by Barberio. Nice tip by the big man.): www.youtube.com/watch?v=80EGRwYvIa4Who is Lucas Lessio? Glad you asked... www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/person-of-interest-new-canadiens-forward-lucas-lessio/

I know there were a few posts about tonight's game on the other thread, but I will try and lure it back to this thread!
Four points in two nights to head into the holiday break. Easy peasie, right? They faced 92 shots in two nights and Fucale and Pasquale combined to only allow three goals. Big McC (with four) had more goals than Albany in the two games!! Their PK went 9 for 9 tonight (not all were for a full two minutes, the ref called everything and more). Barberio is definitely the leader on the back end, but Ellis has been playing some vastly improved hockey with him this year.
Lessio looked good in his IceCaps debut and played on the top line with McC and Holloway.
I am liking that RDS is playing some games this year.

It's getting harder for Berg to keep Big Mac down on the farm.

Were not able to catch the IceCaps game on RDS last night? No problemo, here are the highlights from last night's 5-1 win, McC's hat trick, and Pasquale's 45 save effort. Newcomer Lessio is wearing #19 and you can see he was implicated in the play. I thought he played a good game overall. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bojq134_zi4

It's getting harder for Berg to keep Big Mac down on the farm. Wonder if Lefebvre will put Kassian on McCarron's wing after Christmas when play resumes? That would be a lot of beef heading to the net!! With both Gally and DSP skating again, I would expect a number of the current call ups could be headed back to St. John's by sometime in January. McCarron sure has done himself no harm with his great play in the absence of a strong supporting cast. He warrants a look at some point.

Anyone know why McCarron's not playing tonight? Injured? Checked the box score and game roster after the game, and it looks like he played last night in Utica...unless he left the game with injury. I cannot find ice time stats.
