Sens not getting into game mismanagement....yet....
If Boston loses in regulation, Detroit clinches 3rd.
All Philly would have to do is get 2 pts. in their final two games.
The Flyers are at home to the Pens today at 3:00 ET....and Pittsburgh is resting Crosby and Letang.....Malkin is still out.

9:26 to play....Sens penalty....
And Julien pulls Gustavsson for the 6-on-4...
Pageau puts it into the empty net....
5-1....with 8:27 to go.
Fans streaming out....
I wonder if pulling Gustavsson will seal Julien's fate.....besides, the Bruins were not ready to play this game.
Garry Galley thinks it was the right move...they were desperate....

Hoffman goes off for playing with a broken stick...Julien pulls Gustavsson again....6-1 empty net.
Don't mind seeing Boston potentially miss the playoffs at home via humiliation by an eliminated team.

6-1 final for Ottawa. Step #1, check. Step # 2, Philly has to get at least a point in one of the next two games. Step #3, Jeremy Jacobs stays true to form and fires Claude Julien. Step #4, Bergevin replaces Therrien with Julien - Nirvana.
What are the odds? for 2 and 3 pretty good, for #4 probably non-existent.

Flyers need 2 pts. in the their next two games.
1 point would tie them with Boston (93) and the Bruins have more ROWs. (38-36)

Lovejoy blatantly holds the stick of Couturier (clamped under the arm).....a 2-on-1 ensues....and the Pens are up 1-0.
Flyers' crowd already discontent with their team's play.
Imagine if they lose both games and Boston gets in? That'd be 5 straight losses to end the season.

Interesting development in Philly.
Schenn goes hard across the crease....knocks Murray's mask off with his body....Murray goes off to the quiet room....Zatkoff comes in.
Mason with a huge save for Philly.....then the Flyers tie it on the next shift.

How does the tiebreaker work? Boston has one more win than Detroit, but they have the same amount in points.

Philly takes a 2-1 lead late in the second. Simmonds with his second...off his body in the shooting lane....

Flyers fail to score on a 5:00 third period PP.
Still 2-1 Flyers.

Flipping Sabres win in OT against the Isles after losing to Columbus last night. Needed that win last night to move up a spot in the draft.
Oh well, it is all done. Tank Nation can hopefully go on ice for a long time!

1. Chara didn't even go over to his goalie to console him. He rifled the puck down the ice, went to the bench and then just walked the tunnel.
2. I had to laugh when I saw an article the other day about 'what went wrong with the Canadian teams". Are you kidding? Everything has gone according to plan in Toronto. Here's hoping the lottery gods don't shine on them.

Jack Todd's best guess for Claude Julien leaving Boston would be 50/50 ... if he does bolt Todd thinks he might be in Ottawa ... I really wouldn't want to see that happen ... Julien would give Ottawa a new-look system and they'd be tough to beat ... Senators improved their defence corps when they picked up Dion Phaneuf but I think all they might need now (after Julien) would be a goaltender ... Craig Anderson is a good goalie, but I'm not sure he'll win a Cup for them ...
Cheers.

New GM will make a difference too.

Problem in Ottawa is that the owner remains the same...cheap, cheap, cheap.

I live in Ontario & I still saw people wearing Leaf gear. Even saw some car flags. It's easy to demolish something, not easy to build it up again.
