Jagr scores 2 goals to pass Brett Hull and moves into 3rd place on the career goals list with 742
He is also 5 points away from passing Gordie Howe, and 42 points from passing Mark Messier on the career points list.

And most of it with a mullet, even more remarkable. Quite a darn impressive career. Wonder if any of those free agent rumours linking him to Montreal over the years had any real substance.

Getting hard to watch Sportsnet geese days. The 2nd intermission discusses 2 things. Whe's is going to be better - Nylander or Marner? Nylander has played what, 2 or 3 games in the league. Marner hasn't even played pro yet. I even saw an article on their website talking about a comparison between Nylander to Tavares. Tavares was a phenom that was playing major junior at 15 & was touted as a # 1 pick for several years. Would this comparison even be talked about if the Leafs weren't involved?
Then they moved on to this - which # 91 do you want on your team - Stamkos or Tavares? It was a very thinly veiled attempt at getting people riled up about these guys going to Toronto.

Mike Johnson just mentioned that Toronto leads the league with 15 bench minors. Coaching issue?

Cheers.

Well, maybe tell that to the guys who have made sports journalism their lives ... Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger, James Duthie, Pierre Lebrun, Stan Fischler, Red Fisher, Jack Todd, Pat Hickey, Dave Stubbs et al ... some of these guys represent a different network, sure, but I've heard the Stamkos/Tavarese thing on both sports channels ... Cheers.

I think many of them parade around like journalists, but most are preoccupied with maintaining relationships with team and league execs than actually reporting "news".

Independent Arbitrator: Wideman's Suspension Cut in Half, FinanciallyHe gets back $280,000 after serving 19 of the 20 games. Don't know what to think about this one. 1. Happy that the NHL doesn't get to protect its officials to the max while they use a sliding scale for player-on-player predatory hits. (see Gudas who got nothing for 3 such plays). or 2. Angry that Wideman's lame explanation was finally bought. or 3. Justice was served. "10 games" is what the penalty should be anyway.

Interesting week coming up on the Eastern wildcard front. Detroit is now in the last wildcard spot with 79 points, and 13 games left to play. Philly is next up with 76 points and 15 games left to play. On Tuesday, the two teams go head to head in a huge four point game. Pittsburgh is just one point up on Detroit with 80 points and 14 games left. Right now this sure looks like a tight three horse race for those two wildcard spots down the stretch.
In the west, Minny and Colorado are tied in points, but Minny gets the edge on the last wildcard spot with one game in hand right now. Colorado does have one more ROW so would win the tie breaker.

If he was concussed then he should have left the bench. And that text, blaming the 'stupid'refs tells me he's not sorry. The linesman is still out yet nobody says much about him.

Bruins lose 5 - 2 to Rangers. This their 4th loss in a row & they are now 7th in the East. Philly & Detroit are 3 behind with games in hand. Something to cheer for in this dismal season. Bruins dropped 5th in a row - to FLA.

Are the Caps going to be one of those teams who bullies their way to win this year? I hope not.

I'm not a fan of Washington and I hope they get eliminated early. They have won a ton of one goal games this year. That could indicate that they are just that little bit better than everyone else, or it might indicate they've enjoyed a lot of luck this season. We'll see which it is.

This isn't Keith's first violent use of his stick. Did it in the playoffs a few years ago and lost a game for it.

I see what you mean the comments in the Kadri story are some of the dumbest I've seen. Even though the Toronto media openly discusses this issue, some fans are in denial, referring to the Gaudreau incident without looking at his "body of work". One genius even claimed that Kadri is a diver because he grew up as a Habs fan. Don't know if that last part is true but it's hard to believe how dumb some people are. Also the moderation is terrible as I saw some F bombs among the posts.

Trolls ran the place. The worst of the Internet existed there. It just wasn't a fun place to visit. I can tolerate 'bad language'. It was the personal attacks, incendiary comments, and general clutter of garbage posts you had to sift through. hfboards may be full of dummies, and some passive aggressive trolls, but given the size of the place it's reasonably well moderated.

With some luck and hard work by the Tank crew, we could end up in 7th last place. That would be quite the achievement after winning a few games.

Cheers. I recall the Sportsnet forums. Had to be about 15 years ago now. I attempted to post there a bit but it was futile. Most users were hell bent on trolling. You were even able to change your username as you pleased so trolls would impersonate reasonable posters. I recall somebody mentioning this place. I checked it out and have never left.
