Not sure ... let's ask Dick ... Irvin didn't have a lot of catchphrases...but one I recall fondly, used when describing a weird goal for any team.... Well, Danny! It's a classic case of follow-the-bouncing-puck! He was a real pro...along with Gallivan, his voice and delivery are etched into all those Cups. He's around 84 now...and can still hold an audience with his style.

I don't care if some people think it's self promotion or branding... those kids love what he does for them. And anyone complaining about this needs to give their head a shake and give thanks PK is doing what he does.

I love the charity work that PK does for children, but I'm not sure why he always needs a video production crew to accompany him. Yes, the kids love what he does for them, but they would love the gesture even if a camera crew was not present.
So if people are complaining, it's not about the charity work he's doing, but more about the fact that he has to broadcast it to promote his brand.

I'm one of the few that was happy to see Subban go and don't regret the trade for a second. I also don't wish him any ill will tonight, he played hard for the Habs and pretty much single handed beat the Bruins in the playoffs. I don't need him to turn over the puck or take a bad penalty to justify anything, just hope they keep him off the scoreboard and the Canadiens get the 2 points

He was master of his own destiny. Had he played well last year he would still be a Hab. Fact is he had a bad season, a terrible contract, on the eve of a no-trade clause kicking in and Habs coming off their biggest collapse in 100+ years of history. Canadiens had to make a decision. Habs never wanted to give Subban that contract to start with. They were forced into it. The night Subban got the contract I thought to myself there is about a 75% he will be gone within two years. Just how can you pay him and Price and Pacioretty when they come up for renewal? Price would have to be paid north of 9m, and Pacioretty at least 9. If Subban had played like he did when he won the Norris, then yes can afford to keep him. Because getting a star player. But the Subban of 2015-16 was a country mile from being a star player!......................................

And yet, he was our leading scorer when he went down late in the season with the neck injury. I'd venture to suggest there were others some distance away from their best performances....including the coach and GM. IMO, Subban was one of the very few last year who maintained a solid effort through it all. In other words, I still don't think on-ice performance had anything to do with it. The numbers don't bear it out. Maybe somebody with the numbers can verify.

In other words, I still don't think on-ice performance had anything to do with it. The numbers don't bear it out. Maybe somebody with the numbers can verify. Agreed. He was leading the team in scoring when he was injured. He was playing about 25 minutes / night of top pairing assignments all season and he was a plus player on a bad team. That doesn't even get into the advanced stats. Other posters that understand them better may have to help me here. But saying he had a bad season just doesn't make sense. Yes his contract is high but that contract is a result of the bridge deal that Bergevin wanted him to sign. MB has to share the blame with that matter.

My brother told me yesterday that Kypreos claimed Berg wanted Josi for Subban, but Poile wouldn't budge from Weber. If true, so much for the MB/MT explanation re: "We weren't looking to move PK, but when Shea Weber's name comes up, you have to listen."
And it looks more like pure asset management on Poile's part.

To say PK played poorly last year is to take the mistake in the Colorado game, put it in a bubble and call it the season. It's a narrative that's a complete work of fiction.
His relationship with the coach, and perhaps more important the relationship between GM and coach, is what got him moved. IMO, the 24ch video that shows Therrien laying into him in the video room, PK trying to ask questions to learn and only being rudely dismissed from the room sums up their relationship and Therrien as a coach. No fiction there.
