I think it did affect the outcome, jkr. The play occurred with 1:52 left--negating any advantage with Holtby pulled. It would've take one replay to see it.....way shorter than it takes to determine whether or not a goalie is nudged. It was embellishment of the first order. If players knew that a head snap would automatically be reviewed, they wouldn't do it....especially in that situation. A Bonino penalty would've given the Caps a 6-on-4 advantage. In Nashville on Tuesday night, the Blues' Edmunson took a run at Subban after Ellis made it 1-0 early in the third. Edmunson hit PK in the head and knocked his helmet off. PK, on the ice, raised his hands to his own head for protection. Edmunson, 2:00 for roughing. Subban, 2:00 for embellishment. Like I said, it depends who you are. Integrity of the game....right?

Watched Coaches Corner for the 1st time in years to see what he would say. He ripped Bonino , not only for the fakery, but for 2 icing. Don't agree with Cherry usually but I do here.

Rangers win 4-1 to tie up that series. Just like the Edmonton series, nobody seems to like winning at home. I wonder if those Sens fans have lost a bit of their earlier swagger.

Rangers all over the Sens. 4-1. Karlsson not back for the third, down 3-0. Foot acting up. Condon in goal to start the third, as well.
Galley and Romanuk stroking the Sens and soothing their fans for almost the entire third period...
A Canadian network slanting towards the fans of the Canadian-based team? Who knew?

Will put this here, even though about Subban. It's not to start a run of comments, just an interesting note. Laviolette is playing match ups hard. To counter last change as the road team, he's often putting 7 guys on the ice until the last possible minute to try and match up. He's working very hard to ensure that Subban and Ekholm are the pair on the ice whenever Tarasenko is on the ice. That's his shutdown pair. Despite clear offensive production from PK, he's being used in a shutdown role against one of the best goal scorers in the league.
The Blues worked very hard in the first to keep the puck deep in Nashville's zone. They did a good job leaning on the smaller Nashville D. It's 1-0 Blues on a goal from Jaskin (I believe).

What a heart breaker for the Oilers. Up 3-0 with just over three to play, to give up three to tie (all with the ANA goalie pulled) and then the 2OT winner by Perry.

Just saw the replay. IMO, Kesler is using his hands to push Talbot on the tying goal. It's almost the definition of goalie interference yet it stands. Still, with less than 4 minutes to go that was an epic collapse.

Still, with less than 4 minutes to go that was an epic collapse. Kesler does make contact with Talbot's right leg....but I guess not enough to negate the goal. Yep...that's reminiscent of the Leafs-Bruins... Lucic with what looked like a feeble attempt to stick-check Perry on the winner.

I didn't watch after the first. Did the Oilers call a time out during that stretch that tied it? Anything at that point: "broken stick" before a face off, problem with Talbot's gear, swap Talbot out at a draw and put him back in at the next one.
Lucic's line with RNH and Eberle, going into the game, was a combined -11 for the series. They were getting eaten alive. Two soft players who can't play defense and a cave man.

I think it's pretty simple and excuse me for being a conspiracist, but the Oilers moving on is a death knell for US television rights. I think Canadian teams can expect to get the short end of the officiating stick as long as Bettman is in charge. It has happened, it still happens and it will continue to happen.

I thought the penalty shot call call was bogus ... But the tying goal, Kesler was pushed in, while he probably took advantage and stayed there and didn't try to get out m he wasn't given much opportunity by the defenseman
The NHL must have the most stage-fright refs in all of sports. They do a terrible job of explaining their calls .. Just "after video review we have a good goal" It wouldn't hurt to explain WHY it's a good goal.

I also thought that the ref totally blew the call of Lucic on Getzlaf. Lucic backchecked hard, pushed and shoved and threw Getzlaf off balance, but did nothing outside the rule book to impede him. It's as if the ref made up his mind it had to be a penalty (shot) even before the play actually happened. Getzlaf on a breakaway, Lucic chasing...has to be a penalty. While the Oil have made their share of playing errors, they don't need to be battling 8 players on the ice. No proof of course, but Anaheim moving on has to be much more desirable to NHL Head Office for US tv ratings. They might lose a bunch of Canadian viewers, but they don't seem to care about that part.

Pinball goal for Ottawa ties it at 4 late.
The Habs didn't get one bounce. The Sens got 3 on one play....

Gotta say, it'd be nice if this Lundqvist was around in the first round.
Sens have played 6 OT games already. They won 3 of 4 in the first round and both this round. They won't win the 10 in a row Montreal did in 1993, unless they go even crazier with the OT games, but they've been finding guys to score in OT. They've got to feel pretty comfortable at this point when it comes to OT.

Crosby in. Caps will target him.
Sad...but that's what they gotta do.
Sure hope Crosby and the Pens are right about this decision...

Anyone else find it funny that Dr. Recchi works for the Pens and Sid was cleared to play?

Good one, blny.
======================
Cole and Millen singing Fleury's praises for what seemed like 30 seconds...stopped abruptly by a Washington goal to tie the game.
Love it when that happens!

Preds have the we-can-go-to-the-3rd-round-for-the-first-time-with-a-win-at-home jitters.
Pietrangelo and Bouwmeester doing a great job on Johansen, Arvidson, and Forsberg....but they've got to fight through it....
Habs-style anemia for the first 20-minutes....

A team DID get better after that trade....
Subban with another masterful job of keeping the key Blues in check...some early-game bobbles, as the whole Preds' team was jittery.
Somewhere Shea Weber's never been...Round 3.
