Scherbak and McCarron healthy scratches today for the Rocket.
Possible call-ups.

They have been really managing Reway's use as he adjusts to getting back into game shape after his health battles and year-long lay-off. Hopefully, this is just a point of reflection for the young man. At the end of the day, your long term health has to be first and foremost.
I am still cheering that he can battle back and be that promising forward that we were seeing prior to his health issues emerged. Doesn't always happen unfortunately.

That would be very sad. Not just for hockey reasons. His family is not well off and his salary goes a long way to their standard of living.

I will wait until we hear something formally from the team or the player, but the media closest to the team seem to be have their sense of things.

Well, there were strange noises about him in Junior as well, as I recall. I got the feeling he was a guy who needed to be a top-line, 25 minute a night kind of player to thrive. If he's not getting more than 3d or 4th line minutes, he might just find that unbearable.
He might also simply be physically unable to compete in the AHL.

The body may just not be responding as well as he or the medical staff would have liked.

Rocket lose to Rochester last night 4-3 in OT. Leading by two with less than 2 minutes to go and they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Lindgren stops 44 of 48 shots, so it wasn't the goaltending. Lefebvre whines again about lack of discipline, as if he has nothing to do with it. What's with this organization and their lack of accountability? Everything seems to be the players' fault. Anyway, they are now in 5th place in the Northern division amongst a pack of mostly mediocre .500 teams. Change can't come swiftly enough for me. theahl.com/stats/game-summary/1017222

Rocket sweep the Crunch this weekend, 6-5 in a shootout last night and 5-2 today on the back of Peter Holland’s hat trick and four point game. Fucale picked up both wins.
Big wins without Scherbak, McCarron, Terry (injured) and Lindgren (called up due to Price’s injury).

Big wins without Scherbak, McCarron, Terry (injured) and Lindgren (called up due to Price’s injury). Peter Holland would love to see him put it all together and make it back to NHL to stay. I remember him with Leafs...he had wheels, size, decent offensive numbers in junior, former first round pick. Bit of a mystery why he never put it together....there is a lot there

Daniel Carr is having a pretty decent year in Laval ... scoring some goals I see ... don't know when he'll get a sniff at the show again ... Cheers.

I have to think McCarron is going down to get more ice time while Froese is an extra spare forward whose development we don't need to care about. I have to hope that nothing here indicates they think Drouin is out long-term.

Rocket come back with a 3-2 overtime win over a .467 team, the Hartford Wolfpack. On the plus side, McNiven only gave up two goals, one of which was deflected by him by his teammate, Lernout. Also on the plus side, Jerabek had 2 assists and was +2. He now has 8 points in 12 games and is +10. It should be time to consider him for a recall, give what we have up on the big team. theahl.com/stats/game-summary/1017318

Jerabek has 10 points in 13 games and is +12 after last night’s game. He is third in the league for plus/minus. As seventeen has mentioned above, I wonder at what point he gets a look with the big club. I am guessing that both Davidson and Morrow looking okay with their play of late has likely taken the finger off the panic button. Schlemko is skating alone again, so here we go again with the possible return of the mystery man. They have also been really cutting back Mete’s ice time. He has not played 14 minutes in the last five games, and had a season low 8 minutes in the Vegas game. Do they send him back to juniors in time for the World Juniors and to a avoid the 41 game mark and losing a year until he can become an UFA? With our defense so slow, his skating would be missed but all of Schlemko, Jerabek, Davidson and Morrow are more mobile than Weber, Alzner and Benn.

I'm fairly sure Mete is going back to London after Schlemko returns. With Jerabek's 'emergence' and Schlemko returning, it becomes a numbers game and it's too enticing to send him back. It's probably for the best. Another year working on getting a bit stronger and Victor will be fine (I think he's ok right now, but Julien is discounting his strengths, where he jumps into the play much better than any other defenseman we have) and focuses on the defensive side. Normal for a coach but not the best approach to develop a player. MEte is just 19 though, so it's not that big a deal to send him back.

I'm fairly sure Mete is going back to London after Schlemko returns. can he? is he excluded from the 9 game rule? He's not excluded, but GM's tend to care less about the 9 game rule nowadays... 39 seems to be the new magic number. Beyond the 9-game mark, you burn the first year of the player's ELC. Beyond the 39-game mark, you burn one of the years before free agency. I would have been more than ok with keeping Mete up with the big club, letting him sit for the heavier matchups and keeping him in the lineup otherwise, not exceeding the 39 game cap. And letting him play in the WJC obviously. But considering he's played 18 games already, it's unlikely that would work. He would be sitting a bit too much.

I believe the rule is rule is whether the player spends 40 games on the roster, whether he plays or not.

Been thinking about Jerabek of late. Glad to see he's doing well. He's sort of become the forgotten man.

Rocket win a mid week game (they have not had a lot of late) 5-4. McNiven is now 2-1 in his young AHL career. Goals by Carr (two more...up to 10 now), Waked, Holland and Boucher. Taormina with three apples..if only he could play D.

He's got an out clause in his contract. If he hasn't been called up by mid December he can opt out of the rest of the year and go home.
