He's dumber than a bag of hammers. Instead of keeping his head down, serving the suspension, and learning from it, he takes it to arbitration, comes back, and does that. There's an argument online about whether there was actually contact to the head. IMO, it doesn't matter. The hit was late and from behind. And he's making nearly $5.2 million for six years. Word is that he's avoided any suspensions for the play.

In other words, one less than the number of games he got knocked off his suspension.

Capitals almost got rangered by Anaheim today. The Ducks were down 1-5 with 6:30 to go in the 2nd period and won 6-5 in regulation. Chapeau!

Looks like Leafs are clearing some salary. Carcone can stay in the AHL and not affect the Leafs' CAP. They're not giving up much in Leivo, but he might be better than some of Vancouver's bottom guys. Talent wise, Canucks get a slight edge in this deal, but the Leafs don't really lose much and they need the CAP space after the Nylander deal.

NHL announces that Seattle will start play in fall of 2021. Team name and jersey not announced. Also, as expected, SEA joins the Pacific division and ARI moves to the Central division to render 4 eight-team divisions. The expansion draft rules will be the same as they were for Vegas. Vegas will be exempt from the expansion draft.

Tortorella will be in fine form post-game.
Blue Jackets were up 4-1 early in the second period at home vs. the Flames.
Outscored 8-2 the rest of the way. Only 1 PP goal for Calgary among the 9.
Torts kept Bobrovsky in for 8.

According to TSN, the Flames have had four 5 goal periods this season. The rest of the league has three.

Torts was pretty laid back in his post-game PC.
Basically,
We didn't stop playing. We didn't let the foot off the gas. They (Flames) had 11 scoring chances and they scored 9 goals. There were some deflections...and I thought about taking Bob out....but he's played great for us, and I wanted to see if he could work through it. Didn't happen. Just one of those nights. We'll get back to work tomorrow at noon. Bob's going against Philly.

Wilson gets a bit of his own medicine last night. It was hilarious, listening to Todd Reirden's post game presser. He gave all the arguments why it was a dirty hit, (late, unsuspecting, etc) basically describing every hit that Wilson has been suspended for, but his guy is an angel and that Reaves.....baaaaad man. Earlier in tht game, and I can't recall if Reaves checked Wilson or a teammate of Wilson's, but Wilson charged toward Reaves, who didn't back up and Wilson 'let' the linesman push him away. Reaves was laughing at Wilson at that point, and it looked like he was inviting him to tango any time. Amazing how his courage disappears when the other monster is bigger and badder. I certainly wouldn't tangle with Reaves. He's the one guy who might take Chara in a fight.

Torts played that perfectly. The team's playing well, they scored 6 goals, Bob had a weak game and they lost. No need to pile on to the team. Nothing to see, move along.

Might be a toss up between Buff and Reeves who's the strongest atm. Peak Chara likely beats Reeves, but it would be close. Ovi did try and step up. Laid a pretty good hit on Reeves along the boards.

Turned to the Leafs third period (from the Habs game) and forgot to MUTE.
Leafs, down 4-1, have roared back to tie it against a further-weakened weak Detroit team with Bernier in net. (The Leafs will no doubt win it.)
But...Teen Beat Millen was in fine form on the 4th Leaf goal.
Matthews shot the puck at the net from the slot...it hit the inside of the dman's skate....went off the end boards and back to Johnsson, who put it in in the short side. Bernier played it poorly.
Millen didn't even mention that. Instead....
"I think Matthews might've done that on purpose!" He repeated it at least twice while watching replays.
With any other player on any other team it's called a lucky bounce against an inconsistent/average NHL goaltender. That's the syrup I can do without.
EDIT: Wings hit both posts on a point shot with 8 seconds left.
EDIT: Larkin gets the OT winner.
Eat THAT lemon, Millen!

I think Millen is challenging Bob Errey of Pittsburgh for the biggest homer on the air. A few more calls like that & he will have the title.
I'd rather listen to Edwards & Brickley.
