The Jets may well replace the Caps: built to win on paper, but unable to put it together. The Jets have yet to learn the kind of effort needed to win the Cup. In each of the games (I saw much of some, bits of others), the teams that won were generally outworking the others. It's amazing how much the effort level goes up in the playoffs. Seeing those games, I have to think that even if the Habs made it, they'd get swept. They don't have that extra gear because they were already going flat out when they were playing well. And they're too small overall. It will be interesting to see which teams can keep up that effort level. It has to wear on you.

Leafs Bruins. Leafs making Chara’s life miserable with their speed. Preview of Weber next year?

Marner with 2 points. Matthews with nothing. Last year, Marner with 9 points in 7 games, Matthews with 2 points in 7 games.
Calling all Bergevins. Offer sheet, offer sheet.

The dislike just runs too deep.

When you look at the 2015 draft, Marner should have gone #3 ahead of Dylan Strome, that's a no-brainer. What were the Coyotes thinking? But maybe he should have even gone 2nd ahead of Eichel.

Boston looked flatter than a pancake at various points. Stats said they fired 20 some shots at Andersen in the second period, but Toronto had 2 break aways and a 3 on 1. Chara got exposed a few times. First period was downright boring.

There were not many Bruins who played well in game one. I thought that Coyle was good but unfortunately for Boston a change of scenery did not improve his sniping ability. He has played 500 games in the league and is far from being a guy who you can count on for 20 goals. He is what he is. Their other acquisition, Johansson, looked putrid. I would stay far far away from him in the summer UFA market.
Boston needs their big line to dominate Toronto in order to win the series.
I think that Cassidy was convinced to allow the Bruins play a flowing brand of hockey, but his guys just turned it over at the blue line. One would have to imagine the new marching orders will be to get pucks in deep and try to rattle Toronto d-men.

Leafs were full value for the win. I think Boston over achieved in the regular season. I look at their line-up and except for a few key guys, it just doesn't impress a whole bunch. The top line is great, McAvoy and Krug are very good. Krejci, Carlo and Debrusk are very solid players. After that, it's a bunch of hard working, good skating guys. Rask has never impressed me as a money goalie and I wouldn't be surprised to see Halak in there at some point. So if you shut down the top line, it puts a lot of pressure on the supporting cast to lift their games. Easy to say, "shut down the top line" and more difficult to do, but that's how you beat Boston. I wouldn't put them in the same league as the very top contenders. One rung below. TO has the ability to beat them.

Toronto's D and goaltending are their Achilles heel. They can be pressured and scored on. Last night the Bruins had a few sequences that could have changed the dynamic (Coyle hitting a post), but turnovers and transition offense is what Toronto feasts on and the Bruins served that up on a platter.

Columbus off to a fast start tonight, 2-0.
Tampa looks out of sync. They have not created good scoring chances thus far. The Lightning highlight was probably Point making the significantly larger Werenski look kind of weak in their fight.

Torch has his team motivated. They're playing a heavy game and their key guys are scoring. Kucherov and Stamkos gotta show that they're engaged for the playoffs.

The elite guys on Tampa -- Vasilevskiy, Hedman, Stamkos, Kucherov, Point -- are not making their presence felt whatsoever. And some role players like Killorn are absolutely killing them.
Duchene with three points thus far.

PPs may be Tampa's only hope.
The Jackets are doing a great job of clogging up the neutral zone.
Textbook road game.
Bolts got out to an easy 3-0 lead early in Game 1. They haven't been nearly intense enough, given their talent.
Fans were booing at the end of the second period.
Sad effort so far from the Cup favourites.

I think Hedman's stick deflected Nash's shot high...fooling Vasilevsky.
4-1 Jackets.
Who'd a thunk?

So since the 1st period of game one when it was 3-0 for TB, it is now 9-1 Columbus. I'm stunned that the Bolts look so bad.
Any one watching the Isles series. Now 3-1 NY in the 3rd. Isles playing great hockey & Barzal/Eberle look terrific.
Great atmosphere as the crowd is really in to it.
Isles win 3-1. Lead series 2-0.

Galley going on about the Pens being ticked about "liberties" taken against Malkin and Crosby at the end. Should anyone be feeling sad for Geno? He's one of the most sneaky dirty players in the league. Have no issue with him taking something in the mush.

Tampa's losing their heads. Two devastating losses. Cooper looks stunned. Talked about adversity. They haven't faced adversity all season. They react to it by taking cheap shots, as Kucherov did last night.

TSN played one this morning. They made up a song for Josh Bailey after he scored. I'm impressed.

Pacioretty with two multi point games to start series. Scored one of his patented off the rush off wing snipes. Vgk even series at 1-1.
Jets down 0-2 after losing both at home. Helleybuck wasn't sharp. With Binnington at the other end, he can't let in a bad one. Imo, he gave up at least 2 he should have saved.
