I may be the only one that likes what Kadri did. If a player tries to injure someone, the NHL can't be depended on to take appropriate action. Does anyone believe that DeBrusk would be suspended? So break someone's face to remind them that you wont tolerate that kind of play.
Then Kadri did the right thing....although he should of been sneaky.

That was a deliberate knee on knee, Kadri had every right but his timing was stupid.

Eberle lighting it up. Brutal trade by Edmonton.

The Pens are on the ropes... Iskes took them down 4-1 in Pitts...

Very few people had the Islanders pegged for a playoff appearance back in August (I certainly did not). Credit to Trotz for installing a system and building up the confidence of the blue liners. They are far from an offensive juggernaut (1 guy over 60 pints and three others over 50) but they stick to the approach that gives them the best chance to win hockey games. Interestingly, Lamoriello was not aggressive at the trade deadline.

To think that only 9 years ago, this hit received no suspension.
I don't think Cooke was even awarded a penalty.

The plays that Kadri and the Leafs took exception to were borderline type deals in my opinion. Obviously a couple of body checks that Kadri absorbed were perfectly legal and he can take a number in those cases and reciprocate with a legal hit whenever the opportunity arises. The elbow that DeBrusk planted in McDermott's face should have been a two minute penalty but it happened after a whistle and while it bloodied the nose it was a sneaky quarter-force chicken wing rather than an actual full speed blast to the face/head. I agree with blny regarding the knee to knee, DeBrusk did not stick his knee/leg to impact with Kadri, though the Bruin did bend his own knees at the moment of impact (Kadri was far less aware of what was about to happen) which raises the question of whether he could have averted the contact at the last split second. The hit on Marleau was not interference so technically it was legal though given the proximity of the stanchion one could definitely be classified as ill-advised.
However, of all the incidents that transpired, it was Kadri cross-checking DeBrusk in the face that can be qualified both as reckless (full game- speed blow to the head of an opponent) and completely intentional.

The bending of the knee is the issue, he knew contact was going to take place and he continued his trajectory... regarding the stanchion... that's a Bruins thing... assholes.

I take considerably more issue with the hit at the stanchion. Update from Tampa series ... Hedman is out. Coburn draws in. IMO, has to be related to the concussion Hedman took late in the year. He hasn't looked sharp at all.

Keep in mind that Kadri is the type of player who looks for scenarios like these. He picks his spots, and waits until players are at their most vulnerable. Then he strikes. He's out there to hurt people--this will be very obvious to the league right now. He didn't learn anything from last year's playoffs, so how can you say that he will learn anything now? That type of selfishness should earn a benching.

Geez. Too many passes, not enough shot attempts for Tampa. This sounds familiar...

Winnipeg with a dominant 2nd period; they've taken the lead.

Stamkos is a really good hockey player with an elite one-timer, but he simply does not drive play.
He is just invisible right now, picking right up where he left off in the Washington series last May.
Nice to see Winnipeg playing with some confidence tonight.

And that doesn't count the time he was suspended by the Leafs. www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/leafs-beat/kadri-embarrassed-by-extended-suspension/article23452810/

That Stone-Stastny-Pacioretty line has been excellent.
Jumbo should get at least a game for that.
