That Stone-Stastny-Pacioretty line has been excellent. Jumbo should get at least a game for that. That was a deliberate chicken wing to the head... he'll get nothing He's got a hearing, so I expect he'll get something.

... kind of sorry I missed this ...
Cherry's love in for the Bruins supersedes his love of the Leafs. I remember in the Boston/Montreal series in 2014, he was complaining about the Canadiens not getting penalized against Boston. MacLean shyly replied, "Embellishment, probably," and Cherry scoffed at him.

Has a President's Trophy winner ever been swept in Round 1?
I know the Bolts missed Kucherov in Game 3....but they appear to be "healthy Hedman-deep".

Big Joe has always been sneaky dirty.
Pacioretty must be very pleased with the way things turned out. Stastny is not really elite, but when you think about it he is probably the best centreman that Pacioretty ever played with. And what can you say about Stone, he is just a special hockey player.

People may remember that it was Thornton who put David Perron out for almost a year with a hit like that. Perron was in his 1st tour with the Blues.
That hit on Nosek was totally unnecessary.

Joe has always been full of himself. Now he's just a grumpy "old man."

Wow. Ovechkin fights Svechnikov and hurts him badly.

What in the world was the kid thinking? Ovechkin is built like a grizzly bear and since Svechnikov initiated it with the slash the bear woke up angry.

He got owned, but it magnifies my complaints about how pathetic NHL helmets are. Worn too loose by too many, and don't afford much real protection.

Those helmets might indeed by insufficient, but they can't really be designed to prevent concussions, more like skull fractures. The brain bounces around in the skull whether or not you're wearing a helmet.

The brain bounces around in the skull whether or not you're wearing a helmet. Nothing can truly prevent one. But, the helmets are borderline as useless as when a guy like Komarov or Hagelin puts a visor on so high that all it does is protect the logo on the helmet. Guys wear them so loose, they flop around with minimal contact. Svechnikov got decked and in the process of falling to the ice his helmet shifts forward and exposes the back of his head.

If you really want safety, start handing out game suspensions for loose helmets. Same thing for the NFL. I hate "big brother", but sometimes one needs a big stick to get through thick skulls....

Or just kill two birds with one stone and require full face masks. Everyone grows up playing up with a full enclosure. The helmet is secured tightly on both sides instead of simply depending on the snap under the chin.

I see what you mean. The manufacturer might argue that it's the player not fastening them properly, but that's going to happen. One has to engineer around that.
