Habs lose, Leafs win & to complete my hat trick of hockey misery, the Bruins win.

Stamkos put for 6 -8 weeks. Surgery for abdominal core injury. Will probably miss first (only?) round of playoffs 😇 and not be as effective for another.

Draisaitl with 3 points last night, that's 102 points in 65 games.
Florida continues to sink, they lose a SO to the Hawks.
Penguins get spanked 5-0 by the Sharks. 6th loss in a row.

Florida looks really bad right now. I cannot see them fighting for a spot any more. Heck, we might even pass them and just drop a spot in the draft. I will admit that I am looking forward to the buzz that surrounds playoff hockey again in this city (E-town). Holland added some nice complementary pieces even though Green is already down with injury. The long suffering Oil fans deserve something to cheer about after years of brutal GMs. It will be fun to go out with a few buddies who are Oil fans and watch some games in local watering holes, and soak in the atmosphere...a crappy consolation prize for yet another season without meaningful Habs hockey.

I dare say quite a few of us saw this coming. Fortunately, so did Berg and his team and got some picks back at the right time.

Yes. I wonder if he saw that with Galchenyuk as well. Not concussion related, but knee injury related. Insider information.

McDavid and Draistl... what a combo... Leon gets 4 goals and McDavid assists on all of them as they romp the preds... looks like Yamamoto is fitting in nicely as a setup man... The Oil look like a fun team to watch...

When I see McDavid & Draisaitl play I feel a little sorry for Buffalo fans.
Tim Murray had the Sabres perfectly positioned in McDavid's draft year - dead last. And then EDM won the draft lottery - again.
They had the #2 overall pick in 2014 & chose Reinhart & left Draisaitl for the Oilers. The best 1-2 punch in hockey could be playing for the Sabres & dominating the Eastern Conference. A little bit of luck & perhaps more foresight in 2014 would have changed everything.
They tanked at just the right time but it still didnt work out.

Imagine being the favourite for the Hart Trophy and being considered only the 2nd best player on your team? Sigh.

Crazy how Columbus keeps moving forward without their best d-man, Jones, and their best forward, Atkinson. No matter, Bergevin and Julien will strike up the injuries excuse.

In fairness, we have lost our 2nd best defenseman for 6 games and our 5th best forward for 41 games and our 6th best forward for 42 games.
Sorry, sounds kind of silly when you type it out.

Hate to say it but how about Toronto?
Marner was out for a while & their questionable D has missed Reilly, Ceci & Muzzin for significant amounts of time. They are still in a playoff spot.

Despite their poor play, Florida is still within striking distance of the Leafs. But after one period against the Bruins, they've got only 4 shots. They are lucky the game is scoreless.
FLA loses in the last minute of OT. Leafs are shutout & lose in the shootout.

Philly beats the Canes for their 8th win in a row. Now 1st in their division.
Rangers beat Caps 6-5 in OT, Zibinejad with 5 goals. Now has 38 for the season.

Colour me shocked. That trade for Brassard looks pretty golden right now (with NYR also getting a second in the deal). Another painful daily reminder for Sens fans on what could have been.

Not surprisingly, this trade was driven by financial considerations more than hockey ones.
The Tkachucks do not back down at the negotiating table so it could be interesting to see what happens with the Sens young star. Chabot got a fair deal but the money is mostly back loaded and he did not get any signing bonus money. I have a feeling things will be far more complicated with Tkachuk.

Ouch. Leafs leave California 0-2-1.
Scoring only 3 goals.

Sabres beat the Caps, so we need another 8 game losing streak so we can try to sneak into 6th place... it's the best we can hope for because the bottom 5 are not reachable

Florida looked done about a week ago but they won their game in hand last night against the Blues. Now just one point behind Toronto.

But Morgan Reilly is back next game, so he will fix all that ails the Leafs now! It is fun to see Florida suddenly putting pressure on the Leafs. They cannot keep playing their very inconsistent hockey any longer without some consequences. Looks good on them.

Koskinen stood on his head and made 45 saves in the battle for top spot in the Pacific last night. Vegas won in OT. The Oil were without McDavid, but Vegas was also missing Stone.
The Oilers have put together a few very mediocre performances in a row. They are still hanging onto 2nd in the Pacific, but things are tight in that division.

The Oil are a top-heavy group that can't seem to score much 5-on-5.
