There is a decent slate of games tonight. Buffalo v Washington and Lightning v Islanders are intriguing ones in the Eastern Conference.

... good on Jake Voracek; we don't always see that kind of honesty when $$ are involved ...

Watching a bit of Sens/Bruins, and man, you will need to have a lot of patience to watch Ottawa this year. Lots of offensive zone time, but not many scoring chances generated.

Entertaining hockey tonight in Washington. The Caps and the Flames putting up some goals and hits. Also, the Capitals are honoring the MLB Champions, Nationals, and the boys up in that suite seem to be having a good time with a few cold pops. Ovechkin, Oshie, Wilson and some of the those boys would no doubt approve.

In the third period after a whistle, Deslauriers and Shaw with the sticks high, exchanging pleasantries.

The Rangers making the Sens look like a real NHL team tonight. I guess what is most notable in this game is the sheer amount of edgy hits, scrums and bad blood kind of coming out of nowhere.
Lemieux is trying to get Tkachuk to drop the gloves. I can understand why Ottawa does not want their young gun doing much fighting in the league but a kid who runs his mouth like him and is sneaky dirty may have to oblige from time to time or be labeled the way guys like that get labeled. Lemieux is a tough but it's not like he is Kane or Wilson.

The Wings trade pays off immediately ( I don't know for how long )as Fabbri scores twice in a 4-2 win over Boston.

He blamed immigrants (those who aren't 'real' Canadians) for not buying poppies ( ?). It was racist, without a doubt. Other things which don't look good on any of the participants - McLean didn't interject or dispute that ridiculous comment at all. One tweet said he gave a thumbs up (!). The other sad aspect is that Sportsnet posted a clear, unequivocal apologgy saying Cherry's views are not those of Sportsnet. The problem is that Cherry himself didn't apologize and secondly outside of posturing Sportsnet is doing nothing about it. If it was my call, neither Cherry nor McLean would have a job tomorrow. Something they could both 'remember'. Cherry's spouted nonsense for far too long and McLean has not called him on it nearly enough. Sheesh, if I was Cherry's straight man, we'd be having fistfights on set. (And since he's 20 years older than me and surely slower, I'd probably win. Yay!)

Bruins have a 4-0 lead going into the 3rd. Panthers score 4 in the 3rd period & win in the SO. Nice.

Yeah, always nice to see the Bruins blow it. However, given these are two talented teams in the Atlantic with expectations of playoffs, I hate to see a three point game.

I think Florida need to be concerned though. Bobrovsky allowed 4 goals over 2 periods & was pulled. They won it with their backup playing shutout hockey over the last 25 minutes.

Leafs thought that Hutchinson was holding them back, but those were some brutal defensive zone lapses. Andersen isn't as lights out as he was last year. I'm wondering how much they're missing players like Zaitsev and Hainsey.

Lundqvist & the Rangers getting lit up by TB. After two periods it's 8-1.
Lundqvist will be 38 in March & has one more year on his deal (after this season) at a cap hit of 8.5 million.
I hope that's not a glimpse of Price's future.

I hope that's not a glimpse of Price's future. Henrik has largely been very good the life of the contract. The team in front of him? Not so much. As the league shifts back to a platoon style goalie system, it only bodes well for Carey. Primeau might be ready next year. Even if he isn't, and you want him to get games in, worse case scenario Cayden is playing for Montreal in 2021-22. If it's next year, Carey, at 33, plays a 55-60 game season again. Cayden plays the rest. The next year you keep Carey at 50-55 games. Cayden plays the rest. Carey is rested for the playoffs. At 2023-24, maybe it's an even split of games and Cayden starts to take the reigns. Carey mentors. Henrik's cap hit hasn't hurt the Rangers. Carey's hit at the time of signing was for only one percent more of the total cap iirc. It'll only get smaller.

I didn't get it across in my post but I was feeling a little sorry for Lundqvist. He's been loyal to the Rangers & hasn't asked to get out from under a rebuild.
He's been generally great for NY & it was disappointing to see him lit up, especially with some former Ranger teammates in the TB lineup.

Kind of amused watching Craig Button go off--he now thinks the Habs are a Top 3 team in the division, and the Leafs are "not a very good team" because of their consistent defensive woes.
Button likes to flip-flop, so take his word for what it's worth.

I don't think a great deal of his draft picks. I think he's being generous with that ranking, but they're better than they were at the start of the season.

Vultures starting to circle in Toronto? Leafs lose 6-1 to Pens. HNIC after 40 bringing up Berube coming into the Blues on November 20th.

Berube had studs like Peitrangelo & Parayko on D when he came in. Who plays that role on the Leafs? The defense is generally horrible, particularly in the last 4 games where they have given up 20 goals. There's so many factors involved, it is not an apples to apples comparison.

The D shouldn't matter because Don Cherry said Frederick Anderson was the best goalie in the world.

Always easier to blame the coach than the GM who put the team together without a decent d.

Nice one about keeping Babs another five years.
The defense is bad, and those that thought Barrie could fix that haven't watched him play. Their larger problem defensively is that they don't play in structured 5 man units. Their forwards bail on defensive duties and cherry pick. More than that, they're a one dimensional team. They can't/won't lean on you. If you're fast enough to beat them to pucks, you won't pay for retrieval.
Until they fix those two issues, they're not going anywhere.
