Was that the lady doctor who use to be known as Dr Chopit? What a brilliant re-purposing of a wire cheese cutter! Better than a cheese grater Any side-effects? Try not to get too excited and start licking door knobs and hugging strangers! Or is it the other way around? I forget..... Anywho...don't drop your guard! It takes a couple of weeks for full immunity from the worst and it still won't stop you from getting covid. At least now it won't kill us....until the next varient.

To update my previous varients post which is 4 days difference.. April 8 to April 12.... UK....from 23,611 to 34,404....Doubling every damn week. I thought that it would slow down a bit and we wouldn’t hit 35,000 until Friday. Forget it. Now it looks like we're sailing for 50,000 SA.....345 to 365. Thankfully this varient is slow. Because of how it slices through the vaccines, I'm still nervous it isn't a nuke on a big parachute. Slowly getting closer and... Brazil....1039 to 1222. This looks like it was hot spot driven. It's still very contagious because last week it more then doubled in a week, but it looks like it slowed down. There should be a 2 week or so lag between lockdowns and slowing numbers, plus the vaccines should dampen the spread. "Should be" and what is happening is disturbingly resistent to logical expectations....or perhaps expectation is based on too much hope. It looks like April is gone to hell.... health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/epidemiological-summary-covid-19-cases.html#VOC

Sidebar..... My father was born just before the Spanish Flu so I was kidding him about starting this one too..... He laughed and quipped...."I didn't start the pandemic but I am responsible for overpopulation". His body may be aging but his mind.....still a razor....

I called my doctors office 300 times this morning to try to get an appointment... I finally got through and am getting my AZ shot at 5:45 today... I found out they got 12,000 doses
Edit: Ottawa got 12,000 doses

Got my dose of Pfizer this afternoon. My original appointment was made two weeks ago and it landed at the end of April. I called my public health group and was lucky enough to land an appointment 2 weeks sooner, a cancellation apparently.
I live north of Peel in a smaller community. It was well run, friendly and quick. I was out in less than 30 minutes and that included the 15 minute waiting time.

Look for symptoms a few days later. It's just like getting sick, it takes TWO weeks to go through the infection and anti-body build up. And remember, you are not immune to getting covid, you just wont die from it.....so don't drop your guard because you are far more likely to be a asymptomatic carrier without knowing it. Signed Dr Uber Cranky P.S. my advice on those pesky STD's shall remain private. I will never tell anyone about THAT night. Nope. Not I.

Dis,
It looks like it's targetting woman so if we are desperate enough, just let men under 55 take the AZ and JJ.
This is worse news on a different front. It goves anti-vaxxers more ammo and the hesitent ones more excuses.
The way it's going, thid f***** virus is going to become an anchor to civilization.

I noticed on another board a lot of people are complaining abut after effects to the vaccines. OBVIOUSLY they are not Hab fans. They don't have our natural good looks AND pain immunity. Given our decades upon decades of painful mediocrity, needles in our arms look like a fun distraction!

April 12 to April 15....3 lousy, miserable days UK...from .34,404 to 49,371...mostly in Ontario (27,278 ) SA.....from 365 to 396....mostly in Quebec (163) Brazil.... from 1,222 to 1,885...concentrated in BC (1,532) Brazil variant is actually spreading faster then the SA. The only less miserable news is the SA variant spreading slowly. STAY SAFE..... health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/epidemiological-summary-covid-19-cases.html#VOC

They now passed a law that all investigations to their labs must be approved by their kangaroo courts. 140 million infected, 3 million dead, trillions in damaged economies....this is at a level of a crime against humanity. But hey.....why ask the tough questions?

An outbreak occurred at a local legion only 10 minutes walk from where we live, so it's in our neighbourhood now ... 109 cases in Kingston as of right now, 40% of which, are variants ... on the positive side, as of yesterday ~ 30% of adults in Kingston have received their first shots ... that's ahead of the provincial average, or so the local stations are reporting ... the new lockdown restrictions imposed on the province are now the strictest in North America, but Kingston City Police have already indicated that they won't be conducting random stops ... a full list of restrictions can be seen here ... Cheers.

Good luck Thanks ... most folks are trying their best to comply with the restrictions, and the low numbers here in Kingston reflect that ... in the previous waves, we've gotten our numbers down to the point where the province has reopened the city early ... that's been good and bad ... good for businesses, bad for having visitors from Toronto, Ottawa, and other "red" areas, just so folks can get relief, and the increased numbers in K-town reflected that each time, as well ... Cheers.

My mother-in-law use to call some big number about something she couldn't understand....telephone numbers. So here are some telephone numbers from hell.... Time span.....April 15 to April 19.....4 lousy days UK...from 49,371 to 63,543 ..mostly in Ontario (36,579) SA.....from 396 to 415...mostly in Quebec (163) Brazil.... from 1,885 to 2,201...concentrated in BC (1,810) Again, SA variant very slow spreading faster, Brazilian one slowed down considerably over the previous two weeks, UK variant, well, at this rate, 100,000 is a real possibility despite how fast we're vaccinating. Plus a real concern will be the next few weeks because Moderna vaccine shortage. 550,000 vaccines short at the very worst time. Nothing good to report. On a personal note, every day I call my people in Greece and every day there is one depressing question we ask each other...."anything positive to talk about" and the answer is always..."other then being alive one more day? No." When is it going to change? As the world burns.....*sigh* health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/epidemiological-summary-covid-19-cases.html#VOC
