So, two pieces of Rocket news today.
Belzile, Ylönen, Vejdemo and Myšák all cleared to play tomorrow.
The league has also moved two future games against the Sens to Friday and Saturday night. The Rocket go from a long COVID layoff now to action with three games in four nights. Nice time to get those bodies back. Those Belleville games were originally scheduled for April 30 and May 6. So, my guess is the league is trying to fit the two postponed Marlies games into that general time slot - late April, early May.

Cole better be flying back from Out west... They are flying Lindgren to Edmonton to join the club on the taxi squad by private charter to avoid quarantine implications, so a private charter going back will have loads of room for little ole Cole. I can only wish, as it would be nice to see him get some game action in this weekend rather than just practicing with the Sulky Bunch.

First game action in over 11 days for the Rocket ended up with a 5-4 win. It was 5-1 with just over 13 to play, but at least they held on. Vejdemo score two in his comeback game, and Belzile had three assists after being off for a month. Bisson, Teasdale and Poehling with the other goals. McNiven picked up the win.

3-0 win for the good guys. Poehling with the first star with a 1+1 game. Veilleux and Teasdale with the other goals. McNiven with the shutout. Ylönen with a helper and the second star. He could have had more if for finish of others.

Highlights from the Rocket 3-0 win last night. Both teams are back at it this afternoon, for the third time in four days. Might be a little bad blood by now.

Hillis with his first pro goal and Ylönen on the PP so far in the game. Sweet passing on that PP goal.

4-1 final. Poehling with three helpers and another first star performance. Rocket win their fifth straight and sport an amazing 16-1-1 record since March 13th. Demchenko with the win.
Poehling almost had his fourth point on this play.

I have not talked about the Rocket for a while since they have been off on another really long break. They return to action tomorrow night and play their last seven games of the season between May 4-17. Six of the seven games are against Toronto, with this Friday’s tilt being against Belleville. Five of the seven games are at home, so their only travel will be to TO for a pair of games. All the home games should be on RDS, for those who have access.
The Rocket need two points to clinch their division and win that trophy as there are no playoffs for them.
Nice of them to play on an off night tomorrow for both the Habs and the U18s. Ditto on Friday!

And in more Rocket news, some big injury woes as thee regulars are now done for the season. The Rocket injuries this season sure seem to have happened in bunches.

Game Day (finally) for the Rocket who are at home against the Marlies tonight. The injury woes continue as Poehling is out for tonight with an undisclosed injury and Belzile is unavailable due to the Habs calling him up to the taxi squad. Of course, the Rocket will be without Blandisi, Teasdale and Pezzetta for the rest of the season. That’s a lot of talent out of the lineup, so it will be up to others to step up in their absence.

It does not seem to matter who is in the lineup or who is missing, they most often come up with a very similar high energy relentless performance. They heavily outplayed and outshot the Marlies last night only to come up short 4-3 in OT thanks to a goal with 11 seconds left in the extra frame. They fired 60 shots at Marlies goalie Joseph Woll who was, ahem, a wall all night. Rocket goals from Ouellet and Veilleux with a pair. McNiven took the loss. Lucchini alone had three posts, including two in OT. Nuts.
With the one point, the Rocket do win the divisional title trophy. I am sure it did not quite feel like the right way to get the job done though. They are back in action at home on Friday against Belleville.

Just how good has their season been so far? They are division champions with 6 games left in a 36 game shortened season.

Too bad they don’t get to test the playoff waters this year, but they will get a good year in when others have not had the chance.

This sucks. After a very good and consistent season, he will miss his chance to play with the Habs in the playoffs.

This sucks. After a very good and consistent season, he will miss his chance to play with the Habs in the playoffs. Just reading what I've read on him over the past season, Ryan Poehling brought his game to a new level this year ... it's a wrist injury, and I'm hoping this injury doesn't affect his chances of making the team next year ... too bad we couldn't get to Belleville this year ... the Rocket have been playing lights-out hockey this year, and I'd have paid $ to see that team ... funny thing about winning; in a normal season it puts butt$ back in the seat$ ... Cheers.

The news about Poehling is unfortunate. He was very good this season for the Rocket.
It is not even so much that Poehling is going to miss out on NHL playoff action because I fear it is safe to say ten biblical plagues could not force Bergevin/Ducharme to stop penciling Staal's name into the lineup.
It is really about the 2021-22 season. The organization needs Poehling to solidify the progress he made and take the next step. Graduating high picks who come through the Laval system is vitally important. In particular, with some awful anchor contracts complicating things for the Habs in a flat cap world, Montreal needs the flexibility to replace a guy like Danault (if he wants Pageau money) from within.

whenever I read about Danault and his demand for Pageau like money I really do laugh out loud. He isn't even close to Pageau offensively despite his many opportunities to play with offensive wingers. He has had one 20 goal season - that was 10 years ago in junior.
He needs to give his head a shake & realize what his ceiling is - 3rd line centre.

He will get a fat contract from Montreal, if Drouin doesn't come back, he's the last man standing, no way they don't resign him and I am pretty confident his agent knows this... The only way they let him walk is if the GM can bring in a quality quebecois player or a french speaking player, don't know if Brendan Lemieux is bilingual but he's a left winger, an area where we need players

I doubt Lemieux is fluent because his mother is American, but unfortunately that ship sailed (for a fourth round pick), which is less than Bergevin gave up to get old man Staal.
Danault may be back, but it will not be the Pageau contract. Pageau cashed in a month before the pandemic changed everything.

The injuries are adding up, and now Veilleux is suspended for one game (his third suspension of the short season). As a result, Laval will only dress 11 forwards tonight against Belleville and will have 7 D in the lineup.

Plus Pageau has a lot more offensive skill than Danault. It's not even close and Pageau is making a straight 5 million across the length of his contract. If Danault wants to use that deal as a benchmark fine; but start going downwards from 5 million, not up.

Danault is a better distributor of the puck, but Pageau possesses a much better wrister and JGP also has serious playoff pedigree, which no doubt counted for something in negotiations. Time will say and it is not like I am betting my house on it, but I would be shocked if Danault gets more than $4.5 per.
Willie, yeah, Bergevin did what I said, lol, in the offseason and traded for Anderson but he did not come through on my request for Lemieux. I know one thing, when that goof Robinson on Calgary almost took Chiarot's head off, unlike Staal who was the closest Hab and did nothing, Lemieux would have jumped the dude.

No argument there, if we did get Lemieux, I assume he would be wearing his fathers #22 instead of CC?

Caufield would be safe. Claude wore #32. I think his son was wearing #48 with the Rangers and I do not watch any Kings games.
