Caufield would be safe. Claude wore #32. I think his son was wearing #48 with the Rangers and I do not watch any Kings games. You're right, he wore 22 for team canada

Luccini just scored a beauty from the slot. The rocket are fun to watch He scored two beauties last night. He actually had a third late in the third that would have tied it, but the refs missed it and called it a no goal. It clearly crossed the line, but there is no video review in the AHL this season due to COVID restrictions (I don’t get that either). Lucchini has been snake bitten this year with only one goal entering this game. He had a bunch of chances last game against the Marlies including two posts in OT. It was a tale of two games for the Rocket last night. The first forty were some of the poorest periods I had seen them play this season. Poor defensive coverage, losing most puck battles, and generally out of synch. They had even given up the dreaded late goals in both periods, with both scored within the last 30 seconds of the periods. Down 4-1 and looking lifeless. Yuck. Whatever was said in the room in the second intermission worked though, as the old hard working Rocket were back for the third. They scored a pair to get it to 4-3 and then the Lucchini missed goal. They pulled McNiven and just could not get the last goal to tie. Those are the breaks sometimes. Goals by Lucchini (2) and Amorosa (his first AHL goal - he is on a PTO). Next up are a pair in TO on Monday and Tuesday. They actually play all of their last five games against the Marlies.

Rocket beat the Marlies 4-2 tonight. Ylönen with a goal and an assist for the first star. Demchenko got the win and now has a record of 3-0-1 on the season. Pretty good for a guy who rarely plays. Other goals from RHP, Veilleux and Dauphin (EN).

Rocket came up short and lose 3-2 this afternoon to the Marlies. Goals by Veilleux and Vejdemo. They actually outshot TO, but the lineup was pretty ravaged with only 10 forwards dressed and available and 8 defenders playing, including two PTO guys. They play three in four starting this weekend against the Marlies to wrap up the season. All games are at home and on RDS.

The Rocket lost a second straight 3-2 game to the Marlies last night, despite having many much needed reinforcements in Primeau, Ouellet, Ylönen, and Belzile. They started slow and Primeau let in two on his first three shots. They did rally back with a much better second and goals from Veilleux and Belzile, but the Marlies got a PP goal late in the second in what would be the game winner. The Rocket threw everything at the Marlies in the third, and despite the 40-21 shot count, just could not get that tying goal (again).
Both teams back at it at 3:00pm this afternoon. Game is on RDS for those who get that channel.

Price allowed 2 goals on 17 shots over 2 periods, coughed up the puck behind the net resulting in one goal. Pretty much what we expect from him now

Rocket coach Joël Bouchard takes stock after successful AHL seasonCoach refuses to publicly speculate about his future, although his contract is up and he rates to garner attention from NHL clubs.Author of the article:Herb Zurkowsky • Montreal Gazette Publishing date:May 18, 2021 • 16 minutes ago • 3 minute readHe called it the most coachable group he’s ever had. But on the day after the AHL season ended — without the benefit of playoffs — Joël Bouchard also was slightly emotional, knowing he won’t get that opportunity with these same players again. “The partnership between everybody was so smooth,” the head coach of the Laval Rocket said Tuesday, during a video conference. “I had a vision, and I never had to correct the guys on anything at all. A really good signing to get the league’s top goal scorer and points leader, and un gars de chez nous does not hurt these days. There was a rumour he was headed to play CIS hockey. The nice thing is the organization will have their ECHL team in Trois-Rivières, so players can move up and down as they adjust to pro hockey.
The undersized forward scored 42 goals in 40 games this season for Charlottetown.

Laval has added a couple of Quebec born forwards on AHL deals over the last little while. Justin Ducharme signed his first pro contract and definitely is a guy who could see action next year with the Trois-Rivières Lions in the ECHL. They also signed Gabriel Bourque, who sat out this past season after looking like a promising young, bottom six forward in the NHL prior to that. He accepted an AHL deal, so I guess it is a bit of a show-me deal to get back playing.
The Rocket D should look different next season, as Otto Leskinen has opted to head back home to play at Jokerit in the KHL. That is a loss as he was very good all year for the Rocket. The rumours are they are also expecting Gustav Olofsson to sign elsewhere as he clearly wants to play in an org where he sees a better path to getting another shot at the NHL.

Lukas Vejdemo, who is currently one of the Habs' nine Black Aces, chooses, unlike the Finnish defender Otto Leskinen, to sign for another season with the Habs. - Translated from Swedish by Google

Good to see Lukas back. He was consistently good for Laval this season. He was good on faceoffs, is fast, great on the PK, and plays a lot like Jake Evans. I would have no problem with him as one of the spare forwards, as he would fit into how the Habs play right now.
You also have to figure that Poehling will be in the mix for a bottom six spot next fall. I liked his game a lot this past season. He also would fit in with how the Habs are playing right now.

Dauphin, a pending free agent, will be back with Laval (in all likelihood). Same deal as Vejdemo and it locks up another of its veteran forwards.

Bouchard weighing his options. Sure hope they don’t lose him. I am sure the entire league has seen his success with the Rocket.

Sad to see Veilleux go, but a two year deal in the German league offers some security and no doubt better money.

Joined Clarkson in NCAA as assistant coach when he retired from hockey. Coaches 4 years in Q, including winning coach of the year once. Head coach for a year in ECHL. Last six years as assistant at Bakersfield in AHL (Oiler’s farm team). Big communicator and teacher.

I am okay with this hire. Time will say.
Is Norlinder coming over not only for training camp but also to begin his career in North America?

I am okay with this hire. Time will say. Is Norlinder coming over not only for training camp but also to begin his career in North America? The Norlinder situation is “fluid” for sure. He is still under contract for one more year in the SHL but he can come over for the Habs training camp. He might even start training with his SHL team as their camps are quite earlier than the NHL. We shall see there. He can play this season in the NHL despite still being under SHL contract. If the Habs cut him and would like to send him to Laval, they have to give his SHL team the first right to take him back this year because he is a third rounder, and not a first rounder (in the latter case the Habs could assign him to Laval). So, he could end up playing in three different scenarios/teams depending on how camp plays out.

This is an unexpected development. Jan Myšák played 22 games with Laval this past season. If this happens, the Habs could have a choice between him playing in Laval (AHL) or Hamilton (OHL). This rule change would impact the OHL teams the most due to their entire season being lost. Prospects in the other two leagues would have played in their junior leagues primarily.

Another really good and experienced hire for the Rocket. They may actually have a better coaching staff this season once the dust settles.
