They have gone with 7 D again, so Norlinder is playing. They took out DSP for a more talented forward.

The Rocket come back from 2-0 down to tie the game with 38.7 seconds left in the game. Off to OT. Goals by Belzile and Paquette. Need one more in OT to advance!

I appreciate the highlights, NW. I was not watching the game, but I was pleased to hear about the outcome.
Digging deep in a winner takes all game on the road is an incredible character building for all the boys involved tonight. In particular, I am happy for Primeau.

Primeau with 32 saves was the first star. He went 3-1 this series. Good to see him pull some good games with the season on the line.

Utica-Rochester play game five on Thursday. The Rocket series against the winner starts on Sunday. The Rocket will host if Rochester advances and they will start on the road if Utica prevails.

OT and Series win thanks to Gabriel Bourque. The Lefebvre curse has been expunged! That’s worth popping the cork on a fine bottle of Prosecco.

Next round opponents set. The upstart Rochester Amerks keep upsetting teams. That needs to end next series 😝.

Kidney officially joins the Rocket on an ATO. Heineman returns to Sweden to finish his medical recovery. I guess we won’t see him in action until the fall (or development camp this summer, actually).

Primeau is definitely feeling it right now and playing with a ton of confidence. Hopefully he can keep it going.
I listed to a recent EOTP podcast where an analyst (who is a goalie coach) broke down his strengths and weaknesses. He mentioned how Primeau does not anticipate and get ahead of the play (hockey IQ for goalies) and has to rely on athleticism too much. He also felt he needs to work on his core strength more. Hopefully these are things the Habs/Rocket goalie coaching staff see and can help him with. Maybe the humbling experience with the Habs this year got him working on some corrections to his game.
For now, we can enjoy his good ride and hope it continues.

Houle has gone with 11F and 7 D for a while now, mainly to maintain chemistry with his six D that got them here down the stretch and also to get Norlinder into the game. Norlinder did get his first AHL playoff point with an assist on Schnarr’s goal that made it 6-1. Norlinder was then hit with a blindside head shot by Holmstrom, who along with fellow goon Boka, were just on the ice late in the game to hurt people and cause crap.
Game two is tonight, so they get back at it right away. With a best of five series, you definitely want to be up 2-0 versus 1-1 when you head on the road after tonight’s game. Go Rocket!

Typical goon crap and then the other moron falls on him.
What's AHL discipline like? That looked suspension worthy.

The Rocket will be coming to Alberta next season as the AHL has approved the move of the Flames farm team from Stockton, CA to Calgary. A road trip to YYC for the Rocket will have to be in the plans at some point. They also visit Abbotsford, BC and Winnipeg, MB each year now too.

Insane! 6-1 Rocket late in the third. Four goals from Martel. I keep having nightmares thinking Martel is going to be signed to a one way contract at 1.1MM for the next 2 years and then I wake up and realize Hughes is the GM and breathe easier.

Well, I would not hold my breath on AHL discipline. Unfortunately, with the league overwhelmingly dependent on gate, I think there is still an implicit tolerance for idiotic thuggery.
If the Pegulas own the Amerks, they should be embarrassed because this Holmstrom moron was suspended a couple of months ago for using anti-gay language and yet here he is still on the team.

In have no evidence other than my own impressions but it seems that when the Pegulas assumed ownership, the Sabres have suffered, even more than usual. I remember Tim Murray and Dan Bylsma getting fired after just 2 seasons. Murray had positioned the team to tank and finish last for McDavid . Unfortunately for him , Edmonton moved ahead in the lottery. The GMs hired since - Botteril, Adams - have been uninspiring. P
Pegula ownership seems to equal poor decisions.

Nice win for the Rocket in front of a full barn. Primeau is really locked in right now. The boys played a good first period and then kept skating hard and defending the house.
Apparently Holmgren the resident moron did not play, so perhaps the league office informed Rochester that he is suspended, despite the fact that no public pronouncements to the fact seem to have been made.

It was a wild one. Rochester jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. Laval score four unanswered in the second. The Amerks battle back in the third and have a 5-4 late in the third when they get called for a penalty. Laval pull Primeau to get a 6 on 4 advantage and Ylönen roofs the tying goal with 1:07 left. It takes a third OT period before Ouellet feeds Dea with a feed on the PP, and JS rips a wrist shot blocker high for the win. The top line finally had a good game offensively with Dea 2+1 including the GWG and Ylönen with a 1+1 night and flying out there.
The boys get to come home and await their next opponent. They will be the underdog in that series, but it won’t matter to the Rocket in the way they will come out for that next series. A fun run for the boys so far.

The Springfield Thunderbirds (St Louis Blues) will be the Rocket’s opponents in the conference finals. They have cruised through the playoffs so far not losing a game yet. The strong goaltending duo of Hofer and Charlie Lindgren have been excellent. They have veteran James Neal and ex Hab Matthew Peca up front along with a number of productive forwards. They just got reinforcements on D this week as Calle Rosén cleared waivers from the Blues.
The series starts this weekend with a very quick B2B. Saturday night and Sunday afternoon in Springfield. The games then alternate to every two nights and follow the 2-3-2 format, so the middle three games are in Laval. All of Laval’s home games have sold out. What fan support this playoffs!
