Sens win in OT, closing in on us .. woohoo Ya, with Brady Tkachuk ( wearing the C now), intercepting a pass and ripping the winner on a breakaway. I know, it's early in their careers but what the hell were Bergevin and Timmons thinking at the draft table.

He most likely would have turned out ok but I've watched a number of Sens games and they dont bench the kids when they make a mistake like Clod and Clod jr. Plus his holding out during contract talks would have Been a problem for Berg... Even if we had him we'd still have a problem at the C position...

Wow some major house cleaning going on in the league... who is next I wonder if this isn't, maybe not the beginning, but the acceleration of the change from the old boy's network to something more modern. Julian Brisebois was one example..a guy hired into the hockey world, but didn't get his base from the hockey world. Darche is the same sort and some other names could be tossed in there as well. I'd discount whatever Vancouver does because their owner is a numbskull.

That was cool, its those types of plays that bring interest and visibility to the league on ESPN etc... I'm sure the Dinosaurs won't like it though

Canucks Aqulini true to form. Made a good initial decision re Bruce Boudreau and follows that up with a stupendously idiotic hiring of Jim Rutherford. Sigh.

As long as Bettman is commish, the coyotes will get league support... just move the team to Houston...

Brady Tkachuk scores a hat trick in a 4-0 beatdown of the Lightning who took it to us last game.
If only we could get the opportunity to draft a player like that 😉

Anyways, the guy does have 3 Cups. It's kind of a hybrid for now until they find a GM. I could go on for a long time about his 3 Cups. It helps tremendously to have a key member of the other guys team get injured early in your series or just before you meet them (Koivu and Roloson in 2006 and Johansen in 2017). To give him credit, Rutherford isn't a bad trader (Kessel for example), but he's gotta be one of the worst at scouting. His draft picks during the Carolina years were brutal, despite having a lot of high picks (gee I wonder how he got those). He specialized in coming in after a team had accumulated elite talent (Malkin, Crosby, Letang). Then there is Matt Murray, who was stellar in those 2 Cups and is now leading the charge for....errrrr.....ummmmm...oh yeah, the Belleville Senators. Rutherford's not just a little lucky....but galaxy style lucky. Cam Ward for the Canes, Matt Murray for the Pens. Where are they now? Having said that, as long as the actual GM merely nods his head at the dinosaur's advice and does what he thinks himself, the Nucks should be ok. I'm assuming they don't hire Bergevin. That would be a real circus. Rutherford as the POHO and Berg as the GM. I might actually enjoy that.

Rutherford has a history with Botterill, so that might scare Vancouver fans just a tad. And Brandon Pridham's name seems to be high profile these days as well. He seems like a smart guy but I am not sure his talent evaluation and man management skills are as proven as his cap management skills.
I suppose anything is possible and Bergevin could be in the mix, but it seems like a long shot.

This is the second feel-good story this year involving an ex-Habs goalie or goalie prospect. Zachary Fucale making his long awaited NHL debut and winning was cool. Charlie Lindgren’s resurgence is a pretty good story too. He had a great start to his career with the Habs too, but then just wallowed in uncertainty and inconsistent play for the last few seasons. Being the taxi squad #3 last season did nothing for him as he barely played except for a few conditioning stint games in Laval.
Anyway, good for him.

I can see the Sens moving up, they are playing with a lot of confidence, tkajerk is showing leadership and scoring goals and Forsberg is playing well in net

This is unusual, huh? Very few coaches resign. They'd rather get fired and collect what's left on their contract. Resign and you get nothing past your last paycheck. Mind you, at what coaches are being paid, he's probably just fine financially. I'd think this is a real sign of Maurice's character. He's right in that enough players on the Jets need a new voice. It happens to all coaches.

I like Maurice -- honest, straight-talking dude. And he goes against the grain in the sense that he answers questions in a lucid, substantive manner rather than the typical bench boss who constantly speaks in vague, evasive, or cliche-driven drivel.
