Ottawa had their military appreciation night last night. A family friend dropped the ceremonial first puck. It was pretty cool for my wife to see her do that!

This will likely get its own thread the closer he gets ,...however ... Ovechkin. Prolly going to be the last player any of us sees to score 700 or 800 goals Ovechkin = 0.606 gpg Gretzky = 0.601 gpg Hull = 0.584 gpg If Ovechkin plays until age 38, at the current pace he will pass Gretzky's 894 goals Four years later and his goal per game pace is now 0.613 Gretzky played 1487 games. Ovechkin currently has played 1209 games Last night Ovechkin tied Brett Hull for 4th all time with 741 goals. Gretzky had 894 goals. EDIT. And what a lot of people forget, is that Ovechkin was drafted in 2004, and missed an entire season (likely another 50 goals and 100 points) due to the lock out of 2004-05. And now he lost games due to Covid, but we could call them "on-par" to Gretzky's injury seasons.. But that first year, when he was a real scoring force, who was guaranteed over 50 and to threaten scoring over 60, were always going to be hard to make up to threaten Gretzky's total. |

I still think he is going to break the record. It might take him an extra year or two to do it but he will play until he does. I think it is the only thing left for him that he wants to accomplish in the NHL. I think he also wants to get a gold medal and a KHL cup after he is done in the NHL.

Fucale gets the win in a 2-0 game. I wouldn't use the SO as an omen. The last goalie to get a SO in his first NHL start was Garrett Sparks in November 2015. However when I look at his travels around the minor leagues, I have to give him a ton of points for perseverance. |

Watching a bit of the Flames - Leafs and saw that Calgary's backup - Vladar is getting the start. I find it odd that Sutter started his number one goalie last night against an inferior team.

Watching the Devils/Panthers game. Subban looking really good. Set up 2 guys for Grade A chances but they didn’t go in. It happened to him again.. he makes a great outlet pass, the forward carries it in and drops it to Hamilton who scores. PK gets an assist but no + because he’s on the bench.

Doesn't this league care about their reputation? A douche like Lemieux brings the league into disrepute, makes it a laughing stock, and all he gets is 5 games?
Ten was my minimum but clearly this league doesn't care if it is down there with WWE.

Yeah, the Sens are truly awful.
The Leafs regular season point totals since 2016-17 have been crazy good, and consistently so. But obviously their fear will be what awaits them in the first round of the playoffs. If Florida can get Barkov and win the division, then Toronto will be playing Tampa right out of the gate. No pressure.
