Koskinen was a Cheralli resigning, days before he got canned. But I agree, he should of traded for Fleury. As much as I love Price, I hope Edmonton makes a move for him, even if that means we eat 50% of the contract.

Now he wants to sign one of the most toxic players in recent memory? Don't talk about 2nd chances Holland. Kane has had way more than that and continues to not GAS for anyone but himself. Kane's behavior indicates that he's lacking in the ability to make rational decisions in life. No amount of "second chances" or reasoning with him is going to change that.

But where was Holland when Vegas was giving away the reigning Vezina winner? I realize there were salary cap issues and perhaps, Vegas didnt want him in EDM, but this was a chance for Holland to get creative and solve his goaltending, at least for a year our two. now he just looks desparate.

Vejmelka with 45 saves in a 2-1 Yotes' win over the Leafs.
Points-wise, the Habs are now #32.

If I had to guess, I would say Kane ends up in Vegas (he played for DeBoer) or Tampa (just because). Kane would inevitably be under more scrutiny in Canada, so something tells me he signs on for a stacked team in a warm climate where he can walk around and basically no one would recognize him. Oilers one of the top three apparently. A pure desperation move by Holland. Hey, can he stop pucks or play D? Maybe fix that crap show first Kenny. I used to respect McDavid but after his dismissal of Kane's behaviour he comes across as just another a-hole who will tolerate anything if it helps you win. The gambling issues, the allegations of abuse, the Covid lies. Doesnt matter that he's disrupted 3 other teams already. What a moron. This team separately needs a quality goalie and NHL calibre D men but he'll skate alongside this toxic idiot. ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/connor-mc-david-downplays-evander-kanes-off-ice-issues-amid-oilers-rumours-025828754.html

Should have been "I don't discuss rumors. Next question".

He's being a team player, since Holland, in a presser, went on a long discourse about giving people second chances. It's obvious the Oilers are in hard on Kane and McDavid is supporting Holland.
That is not my stance. Kane should be barred from the NHL. But who are we kidding? Rich people are not used ot natural consequences, so are readily able to use a guy like Kane. They'd be signing Vlad the Impaler if he could score 40 goals a year.
Having said that, I wonder if Edmonton would be interested in a young, right handed defense prospect? To go along with Carey, of course.

To go along with Carey, of course. McDavid is the best player in the league and has the clout to speak his mind. Instead he supports a GM who's done very little to improve the team and continues to ignore the goaltending problem. BTW, Smith is injured - again. Good luck getting out of that slump with a stiff like Koskinen in net.

interesting, as Madden wasn't allowed to talk with the Habs about the position, the thought being that he would be next in line for the Ducks position.

Madden never really seemed to be the frontrunner in Anaheim because they named their other Assistant GM (Solomon) as interim GM when Murray had to depart. I am sure that they are being methodical and seeking interviews with a few outsiders so it makes sense that Darche could get a call. I suppose ownership really wants to keep Madden is the role he occupies now because he has done quite well.

This dancer guy is going to get roasted by nucks fans when they see this So he based the decision about the biggest contract of his career on one reporter? What kind of reporting did he expect to find in NY?

I was watching Isles highlights this morning and saw someone in the stands wearing a Ziggy Palffy jersey. I thought, wow, that's been a while. Hockeydb says he last played for NY is 1999.
I had forgotten how good he was. He had 3 straight 40 goal seasons before being traded to LA and averaged over a PPG for his career.

The Oilers need a GM that's going to solve the goaltending issue. They have a 40 year old who is injured again and an overpaid stiff backing him up.
I think these guys are just frustrated with how long this issue has been going on.

Kenny Holland has not done a good with the Oilers. Going into the season with Koskinen and 40 year old Mike Smith was really a miscalculation. Not to mention the d-corps that he assembled is not much to write home about.
EJ Hradek was on the NHL Network today skewering Bergevin for totally mishandling the relationship and contract with Kotkaniemi.

The only true NHL D men he has are Nurse and Barrie. I didnt get the Bear for Fogele deal, especially after losing Larsson to Seattle and knowing Klefbom would not be back. But the goaltending duo hasn't changed since he got there. Did he even attempt to sign Markstrom when he was UFA? What about Fleury. He was coming off a Vezina season and Vegas just dumped him. I know, there are cap issues galore. But man get creative. It doesn't matter how many goals you score if your #1 goalie is injured all the time because he is too old and his backup is a totally unreliable. Even Tippett openly expressed his frustration with Koskinen after the loss in NY last week. And openly musing about a toxic presence like Evander Kane just shows me that he is out of answers. Your goaltending stinks, you barely have any NHL D men on your roster but yeah. I want Kane in the lineup.

A couple of rare events in the Rangers - Leafs game last night. No, not the Leafs giving up another multi goal lead.
Ryan Reaves, of all people, scores twice, his first goals of the season. And Toronto loses a challenge . Late in the game Matthews scores but its clearly directed in with his foot. I was surprised to see it called back because I've seen similar goals allowed this season. Just another example of the inconsistency of league reviews.

About $1MM in cap savings and opens a roster spot. Hmmmm. A deal for a goalie wouldn't surprise me. Too bad Allen got hurt so recently. Our bad luck keeps right on ticking. I bet Chiarot suffers a season ending injury before the TDL.

I bet Chiarot suffers a season ending injury before the TDL. Trading Allen if he was healthy would have been a decent move. Oilers are desperate. Kick Holland while he is down. Had Gorton/Hughes done it while Price was still MIA with no sign of even being on the ice would have sent a clear Tank On, full Panzer mode message to one and all. In the end, we get the same result with no return. The season from all the rings of you know where.

Kreider got 3 tonight and has 29 for the year and takes over the league lead. Not bad for a guy who makes 4 million a year. Meanwhile, our 8 million dollar center got his 8th goal tonight
