Dumb. Simply dumb. When will Mailloux learn? He has lost pretty much every fight I've ever seen him in. BADLY. He has got to understand what his role is because it just isn't fighting. Sticking up for your teammates is great but adopting the role of team punching bag will result in injuries and time off the ice. He has got to be smarter.

Lucas Condotta called up to replace him. Stealth tank.

Big win for Laval last night, with Mailloux potting two more goals (without his buddy Xhekaj as his partner too). Now if they can stay healthy and get their injured guys back…

The Rocket are about to part ways with Beaudin. Houle never played him much, so not a total surprise. With the other younger and more promising defenders in the wing, this is not a total shocker either. Another contract spot open to use on signing some of the upcoming kids in the near future.

The Habs are off until February 6th, so he might as well play games in Laval. Not sure if Newhook will be back by then. If not, someone likely gets a call up from Laval down the road.

Condotta back up with the Habs post All Star break. I am guessing only until Newhook is cleared, as they also now have Gignac up with the big club. No idea why Lias Andersson is not getting a look. He has been pretty effective this year when healthy.

Laval has lost 4 of their last five and now sit in 6th place, just outside a playoff spot. It is a very tight race, but losing key guys to call ups will not help. Although, they score goals, they just need to stop giving up so many.

He has been pretty effective this year when healthy. I'm in agreement on the Andersson thing. Hard to understand. He may not be a prospect anymore, but he could be a contributor, say on the 4th line, if he adapts his game. It won't be the first time a guy has done that and succeeded. I think Gignac does deserve a chance, and he's a centre, to that gives him an advantage, but Andersson has deserved some love.

A big 5-2 win for the Rocket last night spurred on by Davidson’s hat trick night. Good enough for the game’s first star and the AHL’s third star of the night. Here is one of his goals.
And number two, from a nice cross ice feed from Kidney.
Third was an ENG.

Houle does not use Myšák much, but he tends to punch above his weight with the ice time he gets.

Heineman’s quick ripper was the only Laval goal today in a 2-1 OT loss.

We've got several 4th line cnetre candidates....Mysak, Kapanen, Eriksson. Gignac for now, it seems, until he is supplanted by someone better.

Roy and Struble now eligible to play for the Rocket in the playoffs…IF they make it down the stretch. They could also be bolstered by guys like Reinbacher, Hutson (if he signs this year), Tuch (if he signs this year), and Engström (if he signs). Once the unsigned prospects’ seasons are over, the Habs can even sign them to an ATO for the remainder of the season and start their ELC next season - so contract options exist. Right now the Habs still have 5 NHL contract spots open for the rest of this year.
More reasons to cheer for those Rocket to get back into the post season this year!

I can’t find my way to liking Jf Houle. Here’s some comments after a 2 game sweep of the Nothern division leading Lowell Lock Monsters.
We’re near the bottom of the standings,” Houle said. “We’re not that good. We need to keep learning, keep battling, try to push up and get those important points. We’ll enjoy our wins but it’s going to be back to work and making sure we’re ready for our next opponents.”
Nothing earth shattering but “we’re not that good”? You don’t need a PhD to see the Rocket are near the bottom , but they’ve faced all kinds of challenges. They’re just now getting back to full strength and can be strengthened with the arrival of Hutson or Reinbacher or Tuch. Their goaltending has improved. You’d think he could find a different approach than the Therrien negativity. Man, they need a different guy behind the bench.
