We can't catch a break. Meanwhile some other teams go on their merry way with nary a scratch.

Well, we will get to see how Struble, Mailloux and maybe Roy fit in with the team
See, I can be optimistic

I may sound heartless (it's questionable if I have a heart), but the loss of RHP and Harris is an opportunity to possibly replace them with better players. Roy should be an improvement on RHP and Struble or Mailman may (or may not) be an improvement over Harris.
With our brilliant downward trajectory to the basement, it's not like we lost another Dach level of a difference maker.

I feel bad for the boys sidelined for considerable periods of time. That is tough. But in terms of what Montreal can do without them, I am reasonably optimistic with the likely subs provided the entire group begins to hear and absorb a message focused on the absolute necessity of structure and team discipline.
If no one delivering that message, that is a problem. If it is being delivered, and no one is taking it seriously, that is a problem.

Anderson was suppose to be a decent scoring power forward...turns out he's more like a crash test dummy in a baby carriage.

Roy should be an improvement on RHP and Struble or Mailman may (or may not) be an improvement over Harris. With our brilliant downward trajectory to the basement, it's not like we lost another Dach level of a difference maker. Dach may be a very talented player. We were able to aquire him because of his history of injuries. Surprised he was injured? We have a lot of good promising players but no proven superstar. Suzuki and Caufield are very good but rank 70 and 71 in the league in scoring. We have a very promising 160 pound defenseman who MAY become great. How many years have we been told our draft picks may become great only to watch them struggle before leaving the team. The last few years we cheered for the team to lose and get back great draft pick. We definitely saw the team lose and we saw great draft position but mediocre picks. The worst teams in the long history of the team. We are told our coach is great, our medical staff and management teams replaced but the results are not there. We aren’t going from a contender to a championship team. We hope to progress from terrible to just weak before our future gets better. Goaltending is below par and hope may continue to be just that. Fill the seats while expansion teams progress from zero to contenders in short order.

Newhook out 10-12 weeks with a high ankle sprain. It's hard to beleive this string of injuries keep going. Are the Hockey Gods that pissed with us? I'm trying to think what we did: 1) karma for those 24 Cup winning seasons? 2) leaving the Forum and leaving the ghosts behind? 3) Molson turning Habs into a money grabbing entity and foresaking the game? 3) trading Patrick? This is not normal

Newhook was on pace for 25 goals & almost 50 points. Who is left on this team that can still score?

Xhekaj is healthy and ready to go but demoted to Laval. Struble stays with the big club for now

Struble stays up and X goes to Laval?
Not happy about that unless the intent is to make X their number one and get him a LOT of minutes.
1st..problem with that is that the NHL is another of speed and quickness.
2nd..the kid may try to do too much and land up with the same question marks.
On the other hand, I love to see him and Mailman get real comfortable with dishing pain and getting points. Or then again it may be too much hopium from me.
I still have to clear out the machinery but after that, I'm going to scout any games they play the Marlies or maybe go to Belleville.

I think Xhekaj is just down there to play a game or two and get his timing back.
The Newhook injury is more bad luck, for sure. Some teams have guys drive the net hard with speed all season and no one gets injured. Montreal, on the other hand, always seems to have guys get hauled down awkwardly in semi-greasy plays (Anderson last season was the same deal).

Since then, according to this reporter, Xhekaj's game has deteriorated, and Xhekaj is playing as if he is trying to not upset MSL, instead of carefree like he used to

I'm not happy about Savard's return. I would much rather let the kids play. Lindstrom has actually gotten better with every game. I'm really happy with Struble. In my mind he is a keeper - much prefer him to Harris. I would rather have X, Struble, and Lidstrom playing than Savard. The only reason to play Savard would be to increase his trade value at the deadline as he we don't need him anymore, if we ever did.

So give him a purple heart and still bench him. He's one of the worst offenders for causing us to spend a lot of time in our end. He'd win a race against Hal Gill and Douglas Murray but by no more than a length.

So many mistakes by many players this season & we're supposed to believe that MSL ripped Xhekaj for being too aggressive?
That's his game & he shouldn't change it. Some of the veterans - Savard, Gallagher, Anderson for example have been far worse. I think Laraque is stirring the pot in order to stay relevant.

Meh, I would not put much stock in the veracity of anything that Laraque says.
