if you get the pick right on you get 10 points if you're 1 off you get 5 points (ie. turris you have going at #3 and he goes at #2) 2 off you get 4 points 3 off gets 3 points 4 off gets 2 points 5 off gets you 1 point
FINAL STANDINGS
NWT 135 (the king of the draft, amazingly nailed 11 of 30 right on the head, this is a record that may take years to beat) Buzz 94 (good job runnerup prize) Skilly 84 (you got me skilly 3rd place) Anard 83 (4th place, 1 point outta 2nd) H&C 81 (5th place, respactable) TSN 78 (beaten by 5 of us) Roke 77 Ropo 68 Ryan 65 (too bad you didn't put in 8 more names) P.Roy 62 Hali 60 BC 59 MikeG 57 Cranky 52 (better luck next year cranky)
if i'm wrong on any score, please let me know!

I have no clue about the junior players ...... just the ones that the media choose to hype (which are basically none this year).
But I'll be your huckleberry and give this a shot .....
#1. Chicago: Patrick Kane ..... Chicago almost has to pick him.
#2. Philadelphia: Kyle Turris .... well thats the easy part over with.
#3. Phoenix: James Van Riemsdyk .... since Gretz took over, 3 first rounders have been from Europe, two were american, and the one kid they drafted from the WHL was a total bust. They go American.
#4. Los Angeles: Karl Alzner ..... They need defense more than they need a flashy forward who may play.
#5. Washington: Alexei Cherapanov ..... I bet everyone will hear a big yell after the Kings pick .... it will be Ovechkin yelling at his mother to give him the phone , McPhee is on the speed dial. They need defense too and I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick Ellerby .... but can you imagine Ovechkin, Semin, Cherapanov, Backstrom, ..... gulp!
#6. Edmonton: Sam Gagner ... congrats he just fell into your lap.
#7. Columbus: Jacob Voracek .... they can't pass taking him, so I don't see them dealing the pick ... unless Voracek is off the board and Cherapanov is still on. MacLean won't take the Russian. Call it Zherdevphobia.
#8. Boston: Keaton Ellerby .... the Bruins need defense, they need defense who can move the puck.
#9. St. Louis: Logan Couture .... a solid pick to bulk up their offense. They need safe picks.
#10. Florida: Lars Eller ..... they need top 6 talent
#11. Carolina: Kevin Shattenkirk ....... they need defense and Shattenkirks stock is rising
#12. Montreal: Angelo Esposito ... Gainey's worse nightmare, the forward and the defenseman he wants are both on the board. Which to take?
#13. Toronto: Ryan McDonagh .... JFJ throws a dagger Montreal's way and grabs that defenseman.
#14. Colorado: Mikael Backlund .... they had alot of success with the last Swedish center they had.
#15. Edmonton: Brandon Sutter ... Gagner and Sutter... Kevin Lowe leaves the draft thinking he won the 6-49!!
#16. Anaheim: Nick Petrecki ..... Burke loves guys who can hit.
#17. Rangers: Colton Gillies ..... why not, his father played in New York.
#18. Calgary: Alex Plante .... Sutter loves the WHL. He'd rather a forward but Plante is the BPA on the board from the west.
#19. Minnesota: Dave Perron
#20. Pittsburgh: Maxim Mayorov
#21. Phoenix: Thomas Hickey
#22. Montreal: Bill Sweatt ..... been a while since someone named Bill played on the team.
#23. Nashville: Brett MacLean
#24. St. Louis: Logan MacMillan
#25. Vancouver: Zach Hamill
#26. St. Louis: Jonathan Blum
#27. Detroit: Tommy Cross ....someone has to replace those old foogies
#28. Washington: Max Pacioretty
#29. Ottawa: TJ Brennan .... my sleeper pick.
#30. Edmonton: Dana Tyrell

There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say, we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know.

My turn!!! Chicago: Not hiding who they want. Pat Kane. yup Flyers: IMO staying with their tradition "bigger is better." JvR yup Phoenix: BPA. Kyle Turris. yup L.A: Again BPA. Jacub Voracek. Hickey? what the hell?! Capitals: 1st hard choice for me...Go for a need. Sam Gagner. no Oilers: I've read that they'll avoid Russians. Karl Alzner. nope Columbus: Keaton Ellerby. 1st disappointment for me. steal!! Boston: Saves Gainey some grief. Angelo Esposito. ok.... Blues: Happy to have this guy last this long. Alex Cherepanov. no Florida: Another happy team. Zach Hamill. nope Carolina: I swear tons as they pick... Ryan McDonagh. no... HABS: THEY PROBABLY LIKE LOGAN COUTURE, BUT PASS DUE TO SKATING CONCERNS. I'LL GO WITH A PERSONAL PREFERENCE, IF THE DRAFT FOLLOWS MY PATTERN (YEAH, RIGHT!). LARS ELLER. PICKED WRONG, BUT MAN AM I HAPPY! Toronto: Won't care about skating concerns. Logan Couture. Colorado: Read that they like this guy. Plays nearby. Billy Sweatt. Edmonton: Like skaters. Brandon Sutter. Anaheim: Stick with winning formula. Nick Petrecki. Rangers: Mikael Backlund. Calgary: Their style of player. Logan MacMillan. Wild: Brent Burns Part II. Colton Gillies. Penguins: Liked how he finished Tavares' passes. Hope for the same with Crosby. Brett MacLean. Coyotes: Pleased that he lasted this long. Kevin Shattenkirk. HABS: I WAS GOING BACK & FORTH BETWEEN 2 D-MEN. I'LL GO WITH THE AMERICAN. IAN COLE. (THE OTHER GUY I CONSIDERED WAS ALEX PLANTE.) Nashville: David Perron. (Gainey gets grief for passing him by .) Blues: Alex Plante. Vancouver: Go with a player they've seen all year. Jonathon Blum. Blues: Max Pacioretty. Detroit: Another Swede in the stable. Oscar Moller. Capitals: Michal Repik. Ottawa: Thomas Hickey. Oilers: Dana Tyrell. Just a comment to finish off. IMHO Gainey will get grief for not trading up to get Espo, and also get grief for letting Perron pass. Don't you just love Montreal?

Time to add my two rubles:
1. CHI - Patrick Kane - slowly becoming the consensus #1 2. PHI - James VR - big guy like the old days, also darn good skill 3. PHO - Kyle Turris - he shoots, he skates, he goes to the Dogs 4. LA - Jakub Voracek - good skill, grit and work ethic, and will add to a nice group of young players in LA 5. WSH - Karl Alzner - best rated Dman for a team short of a lot of top end players at this point 6. EDM - Alexei Cherepanov - yeah, the Russian thing but he is so slick and almost NHL ready, with three picks they can gamble on a home run with one 7. CBJ - Sam Gagner - playmaker extraordinaire, great puckhandling 8. BOS - Angelo Esposito - its not always about the last name, but they did turn Kessel into a player when he dropped - Gainey smiles but only inside! 9. STL - Logan Couture - a bad bout of mono hurt him early, but the kid has character and earned his keep under the watchful eye of "Killer", although skating is a little slow 10. FLO - Keaton Ellerby - great skater, a bit of a question about his hockey sense, but they hope he is the mini Bo 11. CAR - Zach Hamill - those great WHL stats don't lie and his smaller stature does not scare them off one bit 12. MTL - Ryan McDonagh - two straight Mr Hockey picks for the Habs, but this guy has the complete package and more beef than Fischer at the same age 13. TOR - Lars Eller - they have been talking to him a lot apparently, and he has speed, skill and size...a gap for the Leafs 14. COL - Kevin Shattenkirk - they have done fine before picking smaller, smooth skating, puck handling Dmen in the past and do so again 15. EDM - Nick Petrecki - big, gritty defender who plays C Mac's style of in your face defense a la Jason Smith and Staios 16. ANA - Logan MacMillan - big mover up the rankings since mid season and Anaheim likes versatile two way forwards 17. NYR - Brandon Sutter - Uncle was ready to call his name next, but the Rags have to like his character, his size, and his two way play 18. CAL - Colton Gillies - they do like their picks from the WHL, and here is a guy who can skate and forecheck a la Calgary Flames 19. MIN - Ian Cole - the U-18's were a major coming out for this young American and his stock has been zooming since 20. PIT - Brett MacLean - sure he had the best linemate in the CHL this past year, but scouts see past that and he earns this call on his own merit - some pretty good young linemates on his new team too 21. PHO - Billy Sweatt - speed kills and the fastest guy in the draft has some questions about his finishing at a higher level, but did I mention speed kills in the NHL these days 22. MTL - Max Pacioretty - big good skating forward from the USHL is too tough to pass by 23. NAS - David Perron - an incredible run during the playoffs did his stock wonders, a really solid finisher 24. STL - Mickael Backlund - injuries hampered his progress but he has a pretty well rounded package 25. VAN - Oscar Moller - they like Swedish skilled guys and this one played in their back yard in Chilliwack 26. STL - Jonathon Blum - two forwards already in the first, so they go balance and get a decent offensive defender with some nice overall game - will need to fill out before making the next step 27. DET - Simon Hjalmarsson - late picks, no problems, this smaller guy has skills and good wheels, a nice fit in Detroit 28. WSH - Maxim Mayorov - they got their Dman with their early pick and get a really skilled forward with their second and plan on using the AO factor to get him over here within two years 29. OTT - Thomas Hickey - good solid skater with some decent offensive skills on the blueline, a little in the Ottawa mould 30. EDM - Patrick White - good offensive and generally quite good in both ends of the ice, which will make for a nice balanced third first rounder for the Oil
