Pearson in Monahan’s bumper spot on PP1. Such a bizarre move.
I hope we are all ready for a half season of Evans as 2C. Long way to April again.

I suspect the hope is Pearson can pot a few and then hoefully we can get a 3rd round pick for him next. You know HuGo: it's all about the picks. i wonder if they were operating a Montessori in another life?

Armia 8 goals and +1 in 33 games Ovechkin 9 goals and -17 in 44 games Boy has that goal scoring record gone from inevitable to questionable over the past year.
That said Ovi should get a hat trick now that I've posted this

XHEKAJ lining up on the 4th line with RHP and Armia.
Third line consists of Gignac centering Condotta and Anderson
This team may actually lose out the rest of the season

Short term pain, long term gain. What if.....we fall to 4th last and improve our lottery odds, win the lottery and get Celebrini, or improve our odds enough to select Demidov? Suddenly that top 6 looks awfully strong and the bottom 6 improves as a result. I know that if we're looking at a top 6 of Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Celebrini/Demidov, Dach and Roy, leaving our 3rd line composed of a mix of Beck, Mesar, Newhook and one or two guys acquired in trade for our surplus of dmen and picks, I won't remember that we sucked big time in 2023/24.
The one thing, looking at that group above is that it would be nice to have a bit more size up there. There's some, but not enough.

How is he going to learn to play D when he is on the wing? This was done with Yannic Weber & that didn't work either. There has to be somebody they can call up.

Who I point out was drafted by his peers ahead of Suzuki for a 3 on 3 situation. Really?

How dare they put X on the fourth line. We got top spot league wide depending on us winning this and every game....
Just imagine if it works out and all of a sudden we got something closer to a tyrannosaurus then a power forward.

I know Hughes has made treating short-term vets (Dadanov, Drouin, etc.) not accomplishing much of anything on the ice with class one of the hallmarks of his tenure thus far. But come on bro, Pearson was a Canuck cap dump who Montreal took in order to get a third rounder for DeSmith, so we all know the org actually has nothing 'invested' in this guy. Okay, keep him in the depleted lineup 10 minutes a night so he feels good about his season in Montreal, but playing him on the power play is plain goofy. Hopefully after the deadline comes and goes (Pearson will not be traded because even with 50 percent retention no one wants a fourth line winger at that cap hit), he can be a healthy scratch on most nights.
Xhekaj on the fourth line would be kind of silly. As a d-man and that is what he is, he needs NHL reps at his actual position. However, I recall the games earlier in the season when St. Louis dressed a 7th d-man (Kovacevic) and aside from a shift or two on the wing early in the game, Kovacevic basically killed penalties and spotted in here and there with random d-partners. I imagine the same scenario unfolds. It would basically be an 11 forward game.

Arber has good vision and he's not a slow poke, I can see him generating chances, would love to see him on the PP in front of the goalie.... go ahead... try to move him...

I'm good with X playing up front for a few games. Firstly, it won't hurt to give him a different perspective of the game. And he may be quite effective with his take no prisoners attitude on the forecheck or in front of the net. As I recall Rick Chartraw was pretty effective up front when there wasn't room for him on our deep blue line - the good ol' days.

Next year our number one defensive pairing could have Caufield and Hutson clearing the front of the crease. Seriously though I don’t have a problem with Jackeye as a forward, especially as a Phil Esposito on a power play in the slot.

Xhekaj in, Harris sits. Gignac makes his Habs debut in his second NHL game (the first ages ago with NJ I believe).

Lol... we have a 1st line and 3 4th lines
Cc-suze-slaf -1st line Pearson-evans-ylonen - 4th line Condotta-gagnac-anderson - 4th line Rhp-pezz-armia - 4th line

You said it, man. That is four fourth lines. Not to nitpick because this is a roster ready to tank, but why would a guy like Candotta not play center in deference to a smaller guy (Harvey-Pinard) who is not a center?
I was watching some NHL network coverage at the rink after work and names the Caps are running with down the middle tonight (Strome, McMichael, Sgarbossa, and Dowd) are pretty bad too. It looks like Lindgren gets the start instead of Kuemper.

2 quick goals and no posts...... I'm stuck with the Flames. sigh 3 goals in the 1st and they almost got a 4th... Lindstrom played terrible, Kemper is in since Lindstrom was pulled after 9 shotd and 14 minutes... 1st line is clicking but the caps are a bad team... something us wrong with ovie, he has to be hurt... no power and his shot doesn't have that zip to it

I pray for Celebrini. I will be rather elated with Demidov or Eiserman. I would see Catton or Lindstrom as a highly promising piece up front to pocket if the pick is in the 5-8 range. I would be hesitant to trade a pick in that range for Zegras, who is not anymore elite offensively than Suzuki while being less focused on his 200 ft game and who is not locked up long-term.
I think the Rangers trade for Zegras this summer.
Great period for the boys coming off the extended break. Suzuki brought his sniper rifle tonight. Caufield is dancing and dangling out there.
