For sure, Florida is either going to run around in the third trying to take a pound of flesh (the danger is someone could always cross the line and do something stupid and get suspended) or just chew on it and let the clock run.

First game on my brand new 83" baby and it looks great, as did the Oilers.
I joined in on the 3rd period and Florida didn't look good. One period does not a series make, but obviously they have a lot more then the downright average they showed.
Oiler fans are through the moon...but temper, temper, temper, it's a wet mountain to climb.

Panthers give up another short handed goal to Connor Brownn of all people. They are just picking up where they left off in game 4.

Florida looks awful. They went the last14 minutes without a shot & get a really dumb penalty at the 20 minute mark.
In the last 5 periods they've been outscored 11-1.
And I don't know if Tkachuk is injured but he is invisible out there unless he is doing something dumb in a scrum.

I probably goofed on Brown when he was signed (buddy of McDavid from Erie) and he went through an awful drought in the regular season, but man the guy is playing great hockey in the playoffs.
The Panthers have pressured effectively high against the Oilers power play this series. For an Edmonton win, getting the fresh ice with a man advantage to start the second period feels like a potentially pivotal moment (momentum swing one way or the other).

Oilers get a fortunate bounce - Bouchard's shot hits Hyman & goes in with 2 seconds left in the PP. Mikkola's dumb penalty puts his team in a hole. 2-0.

Wild second period. Weird bounces making the goalies look a little worse than they actually are, though to be fair neither guy looks steady tonight.

I was thinking about this comeback hype on TSN and other outlets and I just didnt take it seriously. But now I'm not sure. Florida didnt play well in game one, it was all Bobrovsky and even in game 3, things were coming apart in the 3rd period. They have not looked good since the 2nd period of that game. And they given up a couple of shorties and goals are being scored by guys from the bottom of the lineup.
I'm writing this during the 2nd intermission so the Panthers may wake up but if they lose tonight they're in huge trouble.

Florida is pushing like crazy in the third. It will not be easy for Edmonton to protect the one goal lead in the final five minutes.

I see Tkachuk in a lot of scrums but has he been on thd scoresheet at all in this series? Well, he got a couple of points tonight, but it's kind of the same story with the Tkachuk's. Good individual stats and their team loses. Having said that, Edmonton still has two games to win against a pretty good team. I have seen little of the finals since I'm superstitious. Today, for example. I tuned into the game for a minute and Tkachuk scored. So I did what any sensible person hoping for Edmonton would do....stop watching. Holland owes me. Couple of notes from highlights I saw after the game. Brown's goal was very critical. Not only did he score a shorthanded goal, he stole the puck from Barkov, and then accelerated away from him. I wonder if that sent a subliminal message to the Panthers bench? Secondly, I have been banging the drum to shoot high on Babrovsky. Brown's goal and McDavid's goals were not high, but after that magical play by McDavid to set up Corey Perry, he roofed it from in tight. The other thing I mentioned before the series started and had me looking idiotic anyway, was that the Oilers were the first team Florida was facing who could match their speed and I thought that would derail some of Florida's forecheck and backcheck. Well, that didn't work in the first 3 games, but now that advantage the Panthers seemed to have against everyone by pressing, isn't working quite as well. Frankly, as it always seems, this series really just boils down to goalkeeping. Bobrovsky was good the first 3 games and Skinner has outplayed him in the last two. Who will come out ahead on Friday? And why are we playing 3 days apart instead of 2? That's ridiculous. Someone go kick Bettman in the gonads.

On Brown's goal the blame lies with Montour. He made a terrible cross ice pass that put Barkov in a bad position.
But Florida is shooting themselves in the foot. Mikkola's needless penalty led to the 2nd goal & Bobrovsky just blew the 3rd goal. They are not making Edmonton earn it, they are just handing it to them.

Nice to see Corey "Bad Luck" Perry with the eventual winner.
McDavid sliced his way through a couple of Panthers and found Perry's Hockey 101 "stick on the ice in front of the net".
Bob's no longer "in Edmonton's head".
Skinner's playing solid positional goal.
Oilers have found their desperation gear. Time for the Panthers to find theirs.

It would be nice if this goes 7, maybe even OT, but man I am not thrilled with the schedule, friday then sunday. With the performance McJesus is giving, I hope he gets his cup and the Conn Smythe.

I've might have watched a total of an hour of the entire playoffs this year.....I really have no interest in watching someone other than Montreal win a cup.

It's interesting how hockey is such a game of momentum. Games 1-3 (and even previous in series) Florida were in such a rhythm, with stifling defense in front of all world goaltending. It looked like they were in auto-pilot, making it look easy shutting down elite offensive talents and scoring whenever they needed to. That spell has been broken and all bets are off now.
McDavid all of a sudden has figured out how to be the best player in the world again, at the most critical time. Looking forward to game 6.

With Barkov & Ekblad on the ice Florida gives up a goal to Foegele?
And 8 minutes in & they still have just one shot. And another crap PP.
They are just giving the Cup away & they cant seem to stop themselves.

Barkov with some nice moves leaves Skinner flailing. 3-1
Now if Bennett, Reinhart, Verhaege would show up there might be a game here.

Did Burrows somehow become the Panthers PP coach? It is now 1 for 19 in the series with 2 SHG against. It's really hard to watch.

Florida pulls their goalie and quickly gives up 2 EN goals. The level of ineptitude is hard to believe right now.
There are a lot of key guys who are delivering nothing for Florida right now.

Postgame: MacLean starts off by complaining about a missed trip. Hrudey and Bieksa protecting the Canadian asset.... "If any team can come back, it's the Oilers...."
They all know it's over. Unless Bill Ranford sets a time machine for 1990... This hasn't aged well... Skinner has been better, no doubt. But Edmonton's desperation gear has bewildered the Panthers these past 3 games.

17 probably has a few ready to go - especially on the topic of Tkachuk.😀 I am much kinder than people think and anyways, the Oilers haven't won anything yet and I'm playing the long game. Consider this...if the Panthers can't pull it off, and they end up have lost in two consecutive SC finals, what do you think the atmosphere will be like in their dressing room? Will they be gung ho a 3rd time, knowing how hard a grind it is? Or is it just possible they'll have a letdown and miss the playoffs. I'm still focused on that Calgary pick, which could be gold.
