Four of the last Stanley Cups have been won by teams in no state tax, or very low state tax venues. Coincidence? I think not. 3 in Florida alone. But even with their tax advantage the FLA teams, especially TB, are facing tough personnel decisions.

Also for those who thought the SCF was long, the AHL cup was also awarded tonight but in game 6. Imagine if there was a game 7! Hershey or Coachella? sp?

Anyone else find that Draisatl seemed to choke in the final ? He didn't drive much offense, didn't score despite many strong chances... I don't know if he was playing injured or what, but usually when teams over-focus on McDavid he gets chances and puts numbers on the board, but somehow it didn't happen this time.
It's a shame for Edmonton, since it could just as well have gone the other way - Bouchard's post could easily have gone in, and it would've been tied to start the 3d, at which point anything can happen.

The only way a Canadian team will win the Cup again is if Bettman is gone. He will refuse to take away the 15-20% CAP advantage many of the southern US teams have. Also, I was wrong above. Five of the last Cups have been won by No state tax (4) and low state tax (1) teams.
I can only hope that climate change causes those states to be unbearably uncomfortable in which to live and drives away players regardless of the tax advantages. Let's hope Mother Nature has more clout than Gary Bettman.

Draisaitl has been injured since the playoffs began, something that is common knowledge. He probably shouldn't even be playing. We should wait till we have the full picture (including McDavid, who was unproductive the last 2 games) before making judgment about those guys who didn't come through. You need luck to win the Cup. Skinner makes one more save and that game could have turned out quite differently. Yet he played well enough in 3 other games. For example, I doubt Sam Reinhart comes near 57 goals again. Contract year, bounces going his way etc. I like Reinhart, but if I'm signing him, it's for a 35-40 goal scorer, not a 50. And he'll be 29 in November. Only 2-3 years before the cliff looms.

It will never change because the league is controlled by the American teams and the Jacobs family in particular... interesting considering the leafs and canadians are the financial drivers in the league yet they carry no clout... maybe threatening a breakaway by Canadian teams might scare the US teams.

I think he was hurt, but McDavid and Hyman were completely spent (Draisatl too). They needed more from RNH, and Kane (who was also hurt and out)
