I expect Florida to be much better Monday because their backs are now against the wall. The question is can Edmonton raise it another level to counter Florida's desperation?
If Edmonton can't pull it out, this is going to be devastating for them fighting all the way back for nothing.
But again....why the 2 full days off? Grr.

Barkov with some nice moves leaves Skinner flailing. 3-1 Now if Bennett, Reinhart, Verhaege would show up there might be a game here. The plus minuses were revealing: BArkov -1 Mountour -1, Rodriques -2 Ekblad -2 Tkachuk, Forsling and Reinhart -3 Sam Bennett -4. Now a couple of those are surely empty net minuses, which should never count. Stupid NHL. Even then, a lot of good players at even or minus 1

Because it's not the NHL setting the schedule. It's some hillbilly streaming company which doesn't want a conflict with NASCAR, or bowling, or Cheese hill chasing. They're the guys to whom the NHL has sold the playoff rights in the US, because no one else wants them. Nice job, Bettman, you dolt. Just think of the time being given up by the Oiler and Panther management group, having to attend these games and passing up scouting discussions, trade possibilities, etc.

McDavid isnt the only one setting playoff records. Bouchard's 26 assists are now a record for D men. In 5 more games than Paul Coffey took. in 84/85 Coffee put up 12-25-37 in 18 games for a ppg of 2.06. Bouchard has 6-26-32 in 23 games, so ppg of 1.39. Just a slight difference. Different era, though, right, but these last couple of seasons have been higher scoring than the previous decade.

But yeah I know it's the US companies deciding even though Rogers paid more overall.

Some yokel in Kentucky or Louisiana would rather watch tiddliwinks than hockey.

They prefer watching cornhole... You can sit there in front of the TV and say " I could do that. " It's one of the few sports ( I use the word lightly here) that you can play while holding a beer.

Verhaege with a tip in opens the scoring. But the Oilers come right back with Janmark on a breakaway from Ceci of all set up guys.😀
Their bottom 6 guys have really come through. That's goals on 5 straight breakaways for Edmonton.

This looks like game 2.
Oilers with only 14 shots and no really great chances. McDavid looks off as does Draisaitl.
McDavid had 8 points in games 4 & 5 and nothing since.

jkr, yeah, for sure. If the big dogs for Edmonton cannot step up in the third and generate a bunch of high quality chances there is probably no chance. Because the refs are not calling anything in the third, so the Oilers have to will themselves to win shift after shift 5v5 in the third if they want to get to OT.

When leading after 2 periods over the last 2 years of playoffs Florida is 18-0.
Kind of an unbelievable number.

OT in game 7 of the Finals- dont think that's happened since the mid 50s.

Seeing it again, Reinhart's 2-1 goal went under Skinner's glove....so not too much short-side space given...but still ugh....

The best chance they had after they tied it was Bouchard hitting the post and that was in the 1st period.

Florida is locking it down. No risky plays, no room in neutral zone, sticks in every lane, short shifts.

Four of the last Stanley Cups have been won by teams in no state tax, or very low state tax venues. Coincidence? I think not.

Too bad for Edmonton. I think their window is closing.
Canadian teams (and other high tax jurisdictions like New York and California) have to pour excessive resources into non-cap controlled portions of hockey ops (coaching, scouting, etc.). It is the only way to close the gap.

With the cap rising, it is going to be even that much harder for those states or provinces with high tax rates as the numbers will get bigger in time. What is sad is this will soon be forgotten as a final because it wasn't a fairytale ending. Edmonton really needed to score first or have the lead, to win. I don't think they came back once to win from down 1 in all the stanley cup finals.

Also for those who thought the SCF was long, the AHL cup was also awarded tonight but in game 6. Imagine if there was a game 7!
