It will come down to the 3rd period in Dallas. The teams are tied 1-1 after two periods.

The current draft order
If Vancouver beats Edmonton, EDM drafts 24th
If Vancouver, Dallas AND Florida all lose then MTL drafts 24th

That would have been a worse loss for Boston than it was for Toronto. You have no idea how freaked out Bruins fans were going into that game and the prospect of blowing another 3-1 series lead.
Love the 2nd round matchups. Boston/Florida grudge match, Avs/Stars is a great throwback series, and a Canada matchup in Vancouver/Edmonton.
Now just need some lady lottery luck tomorrow.

In the last few minutes of play I saw Verhaege knock down Pastrnak after he passed off the puck and then he was high sticked by Reinhart. Florida's strategy?

Yeah, for sure. These are not the big bad Bruins and, okay Maroon but whatever, but it just not their roster personality/DNA to dish out punishment. So Florida probably figures let's go out there and pound Pastrnak whenever the opportunity arises. Toronto had the same idea. Knies was trying to get him. And in game 7, Edmundson drilled him cleanly once behind the net.

Those clips showed showed some truly awful goaltending by Andersen. I enjoyed the Habs recap of course but the series that really left me wondering was Columbus. How could that Leafs lineup lose a best of FIVE to that team?

folatre - I did see that sequence with Knies and Pastrnak. Knies was saying DP was going after Reilly. First of all, Pastrnak is not that type of player and 2nd - so what. People get special attention in the playoffs. So Knies wants to fight the guy?

I'm very surprised given their recent schedule that Boston is in control here - 3-1 after two periods after FLA opened the scoring. They have goals from Geekie, Lohrei and Carlo, not exactly all stars but they are leading.
Not impressed with Ekblad tonight. There's been a couple of giveaways ( one the led to a goal) and he did a great screen job on Carlo's late goal.

I enjoyed the Habs recap of course but the series that really left me wondering was Columbus. How could that Leafs lineup lose a best of FIVE to that team? Another paper bag moment that season was losing at home to Carolina, who had to use Dave "the Zamboni driver" Ayers, 42, as an emergency backup for the last half of the game. The Canes were up 4-1 when Ayres went in, winning 6-3...allowing only 10 shots. So sure, the Canes circled the wagons, but still...

In the last few minutes of play I saw Verhaege knock down Pastrnak after he passed off the puck and then he was high sticked by Reinhart. Florida's strategy? It's always their strategy. They are today's NHL goons. Funny, Maurice's teams were never like that, but since that rant last year and the Panthers run, they've become the Jacka$$es of the league. I think he pushes that narrative because it worked. I sure hope a goonish play costs him the series. On a separate note, I am really annoyed at teams pulling their goalie when down by 3 goals or more. All they're doing is padding the stats of the other team. Florida is down 4-1 and with 5 minutes to go, Maurice pulls Babrovsky. Bingo, 5-1. The odds are so incredibly high, I bet you could play 100 seasons and never overcome a 3 goal lead by pulling your goalie. Two maybe, but never 3.

By history, I hate the Bruins with intensity. But honestly this version of Boston is not going to win the Cup, and Florida is so unlikeable based on a handful of games the Habs played against them in the last 18-24 months, frankly it would not really bother my hockey obsessed household if Florida loses this series.

That's exactly my reasoning, and I detest the Bruins. Recently I'm detesting the Panthers even more. Besides we need some trigger for them to fall apart next year and improve our draft pick. A loss to Boston after being such heavy favourites might do it.
Convoluted deal, but if Florida misses the playoffs next year, making their pick a lottery pick, then they keep their pick rather than having to give it to Calgary (who gets Florida's 2026 pick. If Calgary doesn't get Florida's pick, the prize depends on if Calgary finishes out of the top 10. If so, we get their pick. If Calgary wins the lottery and picks #1, we get the Flames 2026 pick (Mckenna?). If, however, they finish 2nd to 10th worst, we get their 2025 pick.
So get those voodoo dolls out. Both Calgary and Florida need to miss the playoffs next year (Don't laugh, it's possible).

Maybe it's the Rempe factor but the Rangers are looking like cheap shot artists & divers.
Guentzel & Fox exchange gloved punches but only Guentzel goes off because Fox drops like a rock. And Trochek acting like a tough guy in scrums is laughable.

Fox is a great d-man, no doubt about it. But he is a card-carrying member of the Thespian-Club just like that German kid in Ottawa is.
Both goalies are facing danger, whichever one can settle down probably carries their team to the win tonight.

Just saw Fox elbow Jarvis in the head with the ref looking on. No call.

Guentzel ignored in the slot by Kreider & buries the feed from Aho for his 2nd tonight. Canes take the lead into the 2nd intermission.

Trouba takes a flying leap at Necas who is smart enough to duck under hit. Trouba goes face first into the glass. Sweet.

Trouba takes a flying leap at Necas who is smart enough to duck under hit. Trouba goes face first into the glass. Sweet. One can only hope that Trouba gave himself a concussion. That was another typical dirty launch by Trouba. You can see him extend the elbow well out from the body trying to make contact with Necas' head. He only missed because Necas lost an edge trying to avoid him. More guys should do that. Fall to the ice as Trouba launches himself. Face plants into the glass can't be that comfortable. If I was in charge of player safety, Trouba would be out of the series and maybe the playoffs for intent to injure. No doubt Colon Campbell and Parros will look into it.

Down 3-0 after 1, powerful 4-3 OT comeback by the Avs in Dallas. Wood with the wheels and finish to win it.
Tough way to start the series for the Stars.

Bruins up 1-0 after one period. Could have been worse as Coyle put one off the post and Marchand put a shot behind Bobrovsky but straight through the crease

That's a back breaker - Panthers score with .3 seconds left on the clock in the 2nd to take a 3-1 lead.

This game has become an embarassing display of cheap shots and fights . Numerous misconducts handed out. Even Tkachuk and Pastrnak fighting.
Is this what the NHL wants for their playoff telecasts?

The Panthers have a handful of a-holes, no doubt about it. But that entire scrum where all those misconducts got handed out seems to me to have been premeditated by Frederic. The refs called a penalty against Florida before the scrum erupted, but Bruins #11 dropped his gloves and tried to land a couple of bombs when no one else was doing anything out of the ordinary in a playoff scrum.
The stuff that happened later after the Panthers shortie started to be pure and utter nonsense. I hate the rat Marchand, but what the frick was Montour doing celebrating the 6-1 goal in his face?
The fight a few shifts later between Tkachuk and Pastrnak seemed normal in the sense that Tkachuk did not jump Pastrnak or make him fight. But Tkachuk did get a little greasy while Pastrnak was getting wrestled down, which is no surprise considering his POS DNA. Moving forward, Boston had better just play whistle to whistle because chasing Tkachuk around is waste of time because that tool is not going to fight Maroon or even Frederic.

Watching highlights of Oilers/ Canucks. Edmonton loses after running up a 4-1 lead & only have 8 shots in the last 2 periods.
If I was an Oilers fan Skinner would make me nervous. The Canucks 5th goal was from a poor angle & stoppable.
I'm not sure how long Vancouver can keep winning with their # 3 goalie but it's working for now.
