MTL to the PP
Will they get any pucks to the net?

Xhekaj had 2 - is this why people want him on the PP? Check your facts before trying to make a point with them. X had 3 goals total, 2 were slap shots. That's 66% of his goals were with his over 100 mph slapshot. When other then never has X been a power play fixture. And no, getting pop gun floaters to the net won't get you goals. Otherwise Hutson and Matheson would have a field day in primary assists. As recently as one game ago Guhle had two assists...from his shot from the blueline. Suprise, Guhle also has a 100 mph shot.

Skilly, those stas are very detailed. It's something that I am surprised to see. Who compiles them? Is it the player's team? NHL.com Well, there you go. The NHL is the last outfit I’d trust on data. They’re not like Putin’s pollsters, they’re just inept.

Second pp unit does it again. Lane should get another assist.

The great news is that TVAS has the game and I'm not blacked out...which means 79 games to go.
The bad news is I still won't watch it live. Too stressful for me. I'll just talk to myself and curse/praise them 3 in the morning.

Hutson’s unit less skilled but creating better chances than the 1sr unit.

Matheson makes a good but unspectacular pass and Caufield tskes an elite shot. That’s reminiscent of other Matheson assists.

That is joke of a call. A fringe NHL/AHLer fighter dives and gets the call.

Where were my facts wrong? So the only "fact" I stated was he got 2 slap shot goals. Checks it. Yep, he got 2. So those facts are right Now, you want analysis, not facts. Ok Xhekaj had 61 shots on net, he had 68 of his shots blocked, 31 of his shot attempts missed the net So he had 160 shot attempts , 42.5% of them get blocked. Of his 160 shot attempts, 8 slap slots actually hit the net. Yes he scored on 2. But it's a low percentage play The point shot throughout the NHL (regardless of type of shot) only results in a goal a very small percentage of time. I'll try to find the research, but it's like 5-10% of the time. So the slap is taken less than most, hits the net less , and result in a goal less. I'd prefer to find a way to get the puck to the high scoring areas in front of the net

Nice sharp angle snipe by Caulfield. 2-0 Nice to see his shot seems to have fully returned. I understand now why Hutson is on PP2 rather than PP1. If it wasn't for his movement and jitterbugging, the rest of the crew wouldn't move at all. His moving forces their hand

So Lane touches a puck, before a Sens has it stripped by Dvorak and you praise his "assist" Matheson make the right play and you suddenly want his points to be spectacular. It's just too funny

They don't ask how, they ask how many. Seems silly, but it’s all related to MM’s point totals last year, which then lead to his value and where his skill sets lie. IMO he’s a good, solid 2nd pair guy who is being paid like one. Best skater on the team, but not the best hands. How do you use a player like that?

HNIC shtick about Canadian hockey heritage is getting old tired and more than a little corny. Find a new theme for a while. And fire that knob Ron McLean I think the Rogers deal ends in 2026. I'm hoping he will be gone by then.

Emil Heineman is very noticeable tonight ... one goal, one penalty, and two good checks ... he's having a good game ...
Cheers.
