I'm not sure if they're laughing it off now ... ever since the media broke the story that Kent Hughes was looking to make a trade to "shake up the team" they've won two straight (St Louis/Philadelphia) ... they're still making mistakes, only now they seem to give a hoot ... at least for the last two games, anyway ... just an opinion ... Cheers. They cannot be allowed to become the leafs I don't see anybody maximizing their earning potential at the cost of the team. I see a manager and his players understanding the value of a strong team and signing reasonable contracts. They will not become the Leafs.

I don't mean monetarily, I mean accepting losing, especially in the playoffs

As for the Leafs players, I don't agree that they accept losing. You may think that but you don't know that. They're a team that has so much salary invested in a small number of players. That's tough to build a winner around. Life in the salary cap era.

Then, perhaps subconsciously, they have accepted losing because it seems they stop working hard when it counts the most... that is what makes their fans nuts because there is no denying the skill level.

I can't shake the feeling, regarding the Leafs, that some guys are just not winners. Oh, sometimes they win a championship but its usually because other teammates have dragged them along (IMO). Is Matthews that guy?
I can't understand them making him captain. Without being inside the locker room, I don't see any evidence that he's the leadership type (no teammates coming out and proclaiming how much he helped them, blah, blah). I also firmly believe you don't make a guy the captain because he's the best player on your team. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I also think the chemistry on that team is just wrong, and their D has never been very good from 1 to 6.
So....enough problems for Berube and Treliving (who I also think is a below average GM)?
