Yesterday, the dogs were in town against the wolves. The wolves fighter was pissed off because he got cheapshoted a few times so he saw Linhart in the corner and just decked from behind. The when the player from the dogs came in to help him the wolves player decked him in the face and broke his nose.

www.andrewsstarspage.com/grizz/grizz.htmThe game winner came courtesy of Eric Chouinard, who has been on fire as of late and is definitely showing his injured groin is fully healed. Chouinard showed some of the power forward play the Montreal Canadiens want to see out of him, fighting off a defenseman who had mistaken him for a mechanical bull, gaining a step on him, and rifling a wrister past Mason top shelf.

Could Chewy be the ultimate dark horse Just when you expect nothing out of him...BANG he explodes and becomes what we all expected him to become What are his numbers like this season? I always felt that if Chouinard ever worked on his skating (and moved his feet a little more) that he could develop into a player. At worst a Jonus Hoglund type, at very best an Eric Daze. Not sure that he will ever get a chance in Montreal, but with a good season this guy could get a few people interested...

Chouinard has 8 points (4+4) in 14 games, but that is not a true indicator of his play this year...He re-aggrivated his groin in the first perod of his first game here, and after resting and more rehab, it took him four games to get back into the groove. So essentially he has 8 points in 9 games. He is definately making himself known on the ice and is using his size well. Chouinard very well may be one of the top three Grizzlies players over the last month.
We have been very happy here in SLC with the prospects the Habs have sent down, with the exception of M-A Thinel. Landry is a great player who never quits, Chouinard is rounding nicely into form, and Descoteaux, while not the best D-man on the team, is one of the solid #5-6 guys a team needs to win. Thinel is a waste of space IMHO...a perfect example of why some of the QJMHL 150 point-a-year wunderkinds are totally worthless at the higher levels of hockey. He's always muscled off the puck, and if any team employs any type of neutral zone trap, he is lost. I'd want him in a league that is always going back and forth up the ice, but not in the AHL.
Hey, thanks for posting a link to my website up there!!! I can use all the pub I can get!!! If you go to the features page on the Grizzlies Faniste you will find a "quarter season in review" and there is a link on there where you can submit questions to Salt Lake Tribune Grizzlies beat writer and NHL.com columnist Brett Prettyman and he will answer them on the site.

hey Grizz, do you think Steve Gainey will be a NHL regular? Does he play like his father? He could be useful in Montreal. As can Erskine...

Gainey an NHL regular....I dunno...He has the grit to play, but I cannot seem to put my finger on what is holding him back. The Stars made two callups this week, and neither of them were Gainey. I never watched his dad play, so I cannot comment on that. And Erskine WOULD be the #6 D-man in Dallas if the Stars had not aquired Robidas on Waiver Draft day. He is certainly the most NHL ready D-man in Utah.

To be honest, I didn't even know about this board until I was looking at the hit report for the Grizzlies website, and saw someone had visited the site from the link legaspesien posted above. I figured since someone had mentioned my site, I would come on over and add what I could.

Thanks for the updates Grizz, much appreciated. Keep 'em coming!
One thing about Chouinard, is that people forget how young he is. He is still only 22, and when you consider that big men take longer to develope, and that he suffered two serious injuries (dislocated shoulders both times) during his first two AHL seasons, and its not hard to see why his developement might be a little behind. This is, after all, only his 3rd AHL season, and yet it seems we have been calling Chouinard a bust for like, 4 years now. Damn that Simon Gagne. Just as a comparison, if Marcel Hossa doesn't make it to the NHL as a regular by next year, will we call him a bust too? It will be Marcel's 3rd year in the AHL...
Having said that, its all up to Eric. He has the talent, he just has to put it together. I doubt he will get the chance with Montreal (if AHL points leaders Benoit Gratton and Jason Ward can't get shots...), as Marcel Hossa is probably ahead of him in the depth chart now, but if he shows enough, some one will give him a shot.
He'd look pretty good in Atlanta, in my opinion...

Update from Sweden. Eneqvist picked up an assist, has 5 pts on the year, is 8th in the SEL in rookie scoring. Niklaus Anger, and Kim Staal have been picking up points lately, but I dont have there season totals.
The Baltic cup starts on Monday. For Team Sweden, Niklaus Anger will be there. For Team Finland, IIkkla Mikkola will be there. I don't know who is on the Russian team yet, maybe Tarasov, when I find out, I'll post it.

one stupid question if you guys will allow:
What position is Hossa playing ? Is he playing the right side or the left side ? Which side is he best suited for ?
thanks.

He is playing left side now on a line with Plekanec and Ryder
Natural position is center, he is more comfortable at LW and can play RW.

Duncan Milroy had 1g 1a today, as 1st cuts are Saturday morning. Milroy has 4 pts so far. I read a quote of his saying that him and his roomate (Eric Staal) will not get much sleep tonight, as they worry about being cut tomorrow. Ah, I don't think that the WHL playoff MVP and Memorial Cup, plus getting 4 pts in 2 games, I dont think he goes down in the first cuts. Ferland, I think will get cut, but not Milroy.

I posted the same in the HF forums...feel free to ask away!!! Eric landry continues his torrid pace...this guy is a machine!!!! He's got goals in each of the last two games, including the game winner. He's still buzzing around the puck constantly too. One thing I have noticed lately is it often seems he will go into the boards with an opposing player, and get "hurt". He won't writhe around, but he's often getting the trainer to come out and tend to him. Rarely does he miss a shift afterwards either. Is this some sort of method of working the refs or getting in the other teams heads??? Chouinard has continued to be a big-bodied power forward lately. He was held scoreless last night, but he used his size well along the wall to get position on the puck and make some plays. He also got off a nice shot on a breakaway that Chris Mason had tomake a great save on. M-A Thinel got the callup back from Lexington, and it seems the four games at that level did him well. The ECHL is an extremely physical league and he showed much more determination in working through people and trying to lay the hits to people. He's still having some difficulty with getting rubbed off the puck, but he is improving. A full year in the ECHL would probably be the best in M-A's interest. Descoteaux played last night as well...nothing spectacular, but solid positioning and good stickwork. Took a goofy penalty though. Thanks for the update GoGrizz. Landry is on the small side, so he does get hurt, but he's fiesty guy that trys to get under players skin. But he knows how to score. Last year he was our leading scorer with 75 pts and that was 3rd in the AHL.
I also agree that a year in the ECHL would be the best thing for Thinel. I saw he picked up a few goals/pts in Lexington, but he should have been sent there last year, and I never understood why he wasn't.
