McC in front of the net on the PP. hope his next two coaches use him that way too.
Smith with a perfect screen on Fucale. 3-2 Gens.

Off to OT. All three games of this tourney have been very good.

Fucale has made some big saves in this game, despite 4 against. McC, watching for the little things. He gets from the blue line to the net quick. He drives the net hard from everywhere. He's not the stickhandler that Nash is, but the net drive is reminiscent. He also gets to the slot with one thing in mind - shooting. He's ready, stick primed. I like that.
Remparts dive all over the place. Flop flop flop.

Desrocher with a laser to win it. McC with the game's first star. Fucale faced a lot of rubber and kept Quebec in it. IMO.

Would love to see McC go to Gary Roberts training camp this summer....this kid would be scary with another 10 lbs of muscle. Maybe some power skating on the side as well!!

If everyone went there it would negate any advantage. I wonder how that works? Does Roberts take anyone?, or is he like the Supreme Court, choosing who comes to him for punishment?
Some added strength would probably help all our prospects and some of our current roster players (Galchy, Beau).

Not sure how it works....if the Habs or any team was smart, they would hire him to work with their entire team full time.

Or someone like him, yes. I don't doubt that they have a strength and conditioning 'coach', but Roberts is at a different level and you'd want someone who can produce those kinds of results or close to them. I'm a bit leery of whether Roberts accomplishes those through pure training or if 'supplements' are involved.

But according to Don Cherry hockey players don't use "supplements" (he said this a few years ago when steroids were a big issue in baseball). Edit: Cherry's "denial" came about back in 2006 around the time of the winter Olympics. At the time Dick Pound, president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was saying that the NHL was not free from players using banned substances (particularly stimulants). Here's a bit from a January 29, 2006 article in the Edmonton Journal: " People in and out of the game said there was no need for a doping policy because there obviously isn't an abundance of square-headed, pumped-up juicers on the 30 rosters. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said it. Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said it. Former NHLPA executive director Bob Goodenow and successor Ted Saskin said it.
And World Anti-Doping Agency president Richard Pound heard it once too often.
"That's what led to the interview in London. I thought If I hear Gary say that one more time I'm going to throw up."
Instead, Pound spewed out a statistic he knew was going to stir things up. In November he told a reporter for the London Free Press that one third of NHL players were using or had used a performance enhancing substance at least once. He was challenged by NHL officials to produce evidence and berated by CBC personality Don Cherry.
"Denial, denial. Circle the wagons. Then they say you can't show any examples of positive tests in the NHL," Pound said at his Montreal office. "But fellas, the reason there are no positive tests is because you don't allow your players to be tested. What's interesting is all the guys who circled the wagons talked only about steroids."
Pound, who said he will debate Cherry on a Coach's Corner segment after the Olympics, wanted attention focused on the NHL's much larger substance abuse issue, pseudoephedrine and caffeine "cocktails" as he calls them.
"Stimulants are by far the most abused drug of choice," Pound said." Here's the full article.

Big difference between supplements and Steroids. I take supplements everyday, Creatine, NO2, Amino's, protein powders whatever I need to keep moving lol.
I believe Gary Roberts works with Biosteel and their products.

Seen in that article that Gogie posted they talk about ephedrine and caffeine, they are mainly used in weight loss. Once or twice a year I will do an ephedrine stack to drop a few pounds...it works fairly quickly, approximately 5 to 10 pounds the first week, then drops to about 2-3 pounds a week after that. You have to be careful using ephedrine, it's a blood thickener and if abused can cause strokes. That's why most people stack it with aspirin.

Fucale in goal for the Remparts against Kelowna in the Memorial Cup opener. On Sportsnet now. Big win, with Kelowna up two men for the last stretch. Have not seen a 6 on 3 too often. Fucale with some cool saves down the stretch. I consider this result an upset. The Rockets are solid. Fucale first star. I thought the reffing on that sequence was awful. There is a scrum in the last minute. Instead of taking two guys or even just one, he puts two Remparts in the box to create a 5 on 3 which became a 6 on 3 with the goalie out.

Big game tonight. Oshawa vs Kelowna. If the Gens win, it is a berth in the finals for them. If Kelowna wins, then potential tie breaking scenarios abound depending on what happens tomorrow between the two Q teams. Kelowna is a very strong team, and showed a lot more of that last night than they did in their very flat opener against Quebec. Tonight's matchup was my finals preview before the tournament started. We shall see.
Hoping McC can have another strong game.
7:30pm Eastern (5:30 Mountain/4:30 Pacific) start.

Oshawa's a balanced, disciplined team, but they don't have any real stars (unfortunately McCarron isn't a star). Kelowna has Draisaitl and Morrissey, both of whom are juniour 'elites'. The rest of the team isn't chopped liver either, with Bowey, Merkley and Chartier amongst the better support group. Should be a good game.

2-1 Gens after two. McC with a great first period. No point yet but a post in the first, great hits, good face off wins, a nice rush and lots of crashing. He was a bit quieter in the second, but still lots to like.

I thought the Rockets looked like a tired bunch. Not quite enough finish, partly due to Oshawa's checking and partly IMO, due to having played yesterday. They hit a few posts as well. Good showing by McCarron. He sure doesn't move much when he's hit.
