I'd love to hack the Air Canada centre during the leafs 1st home game and put a Ballard meme saying 'I'm Back!!!'on the jumbotron... it would ruin their season. you means "ScotiaBank Arena" . . . name change this fall. I like this reasoning for the name change . . . That's funny |

That's definitely more than I'd give him long term. AFAIC, he's making what he's worth. Maybe you stretch to $6 million if he is fine with 4 years. That might be a little more than I was thinking, too ... thought he might have replaced Max Pacioretty, but if he's looking for that kind of term I'll move on ... and Pacioretty is still with the club ... He would have been part of the 2019 UFA class, but it appears official that Doughty is resigning with the Kings for 8 years/$88 million. Toronto fans must be disappointed.

Not surprised. Several months ago Luc Robitaille stated that his # 1 priority was to re sign Doughty. No game playing there. Looks like he got the job done. Must be nice for a player to be supported by the team president.

If PK said that when he was with the Habs the centre of the universe would have exploded and dumdum Cherry would have been on his soapbox telling all the kids not to do that. But Doughboys got character and PK doesn't... I can't stand Doughty |

I read a New York Newsday article that mentioned that Tavares strongly asked not to be dealt at the deadline. If I'm a GM that says to me that you want to stay & work things out. And that was during the old Islander regime. If he leaves NY after requesting to stay, that IMO, is really screwing the Islanders. They could have received a very good package for him at the deadline. Now it seems they may get nothing.
